Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

This article is clearly well documented and deals with a new subject that needs definitively to be investigated, due to the role Sufi plays in contemporary Western art. The choice of the author to select 7 different cases of contemporary artists coming from several parts of the Muslim world (Asia, Middle East, Africa), involved in this art, demonstrates how various are the reception of such contemporary Sufi art which reveals the different interests of Westerners toward it, and also. It shows also how art is instrumental in the interpretation of social and political issues in the Middle East and in northern Africa. Finally it gives an insight on a new aesthetic that mix Eastern and Western art techniques.
