Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

This review aims to examine the performance of different surface-treated fins of fin-and-tube heat exchangers in terms of flow resistance, heat transfer rates and water-

condensate splash.

1.In Figure 8, (a) Uncoated heat exchanger, the title font size is wrong.

2.In section 2, the difference between three types of fins of the fin-and-tube heat exchanger is not very detailed, please summarize their advantages and disadvantages.

3.In section 4.3, in Figure 9, the lines of water splash of the hydrophobic 300 coated surfaces, uncoated, hydrophilic coated are not very clear, please modify the style.

4.In conclusions, the authors should elaborate on any specific applications in industry.

The quality of English is good in the present paper.

Reviewer 2 Report

Total error and uncertainty are missing.

Separate figures not good for comparison, e.g. Fig. 6 and 7, etc., also Fig. 9-a use some y scale modification

Discussion and conclusion should be more quantitatively rather than quantitatively

Some typos and English structural mistakes, e.g. “In his study”, etc.

some correction

Reviewer 3 Report

The research article "The effect of hydrophilic surface coating of fins on the performance of fin-and-tube heat exchangers" has been reviewed.

In general terms, the investigation was well carried out. The experimental design was well established and explained. I consider that a small explanation was missing about the effect of the number of fins, which undoubtedly have an effect on the heat transfer rate. The question is how to approve each of the evaluated designs?

On the other hand, I consider that figures 7a and 7ab lack a deeper explanation of the fact that there is a crossing in the trends of the lines.

Figure 8 is only descriptive but a physical interpretation of the data of the dimensionless numbers is needed.

The same thing happens with figure 9, I consider that it should be mostly discussed in terms of heat transfer and enthalpy involved in the system.

The conclusions lack a perspective on future research in this type of thermal systems

Congratulations for such interesting work.
