Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

There seems to be a lack of detailed explanation of definitions such as "indicator layer A" and "sub-indicator layer B" in Table 2. Could you please provide more clarity?

In Table 3, using RAWDATA/MM as a unit appears unusual. Might it be more appropriate to use 'mm simply'?

The description of Equation 3-9 mentions a 'condition' when discussing the error between the network's predicted value and the actual output value. However, this condition is not explained. Could you elaborate on what this condition entails?

The role of the network model learning rate (lr) is mentioned as being crucial for adjusting the weights and thresholds between layers. You've stated that it is generally taken between 0.001 and 0.1. Given this range, is it possible that the optimal lr could be less than 0.001? Have you considered an automated way to select the lr?

The manuscript lacks a comparison between the methods mentioned in the literature review and your proposed method. Including such a comparison could enhance the reader's understanding of the contribution and novelty of your work.

Reviewer 2 Report

When assessing the effects of various process factors on product quality, I would expect to use the Process FMEA method. It's not a mistake, I'm not asking for the article to be revised. Rather, it is only an incentive for the authors to consider the possibility of using this preventive method in future research. I recommend publishing the article without modifications.

Reviewer 3 Report

This paper introduces the strategies for process quality prediction and control in flexible production lines for spindle housings. The paper should be revised from the contents to methodology. Please refer to the comments.

1. The authors should carefully check the use of other languages.

2. Please check figure and table numbers. Please improve the quality of figure (Figure 1. Processing flow of the flexible production line for 2 spindle housings)

3. The overall contents should be more compact for better readability.

4. Please reorganize and elaborate on writing the equations.

5. The several methods are organized without sufficient explanations such that why the methods are required and which problem can be solved.

Please refer the comments and suggestions for Authors.

Round 2

Reviewer 3 Report

The authors have improved the paper quality based on the comments. There are some minor comments.

1. Please carefully check the figure and table numbers again. There are some same number.

2. How to predict the process quality and how long is the prediction step?

No more comments.
