Review – Sustainability2314183

The study examines green travel in cities located in cold regions, China a case study Heilongjiang province of China. The study found significant results indicating that green energy transportation medium is becoming more and more popular in majority of the cities of the province. But there is still gap in terms of green travel infrastructure which needs to be addressed. The study is well-written, interesting, and innovative. However, there are a few issues that should be addressed.

First, the study did not define or conceptualize "green travel." This could be added to the literature for the benefit of non-technical readers so they can grasp the idea of the study.

Secondly, considering the relevance of green travel, particularly its climate-friendly nature, the study has revealed the need for infrastructure improvement. To this aim, I believe it would be more plausible if the study can avail the cost implications of adopting this system so that policymakers could evaluate the investment's cost/benefit ratio of the project.

SNP survey was conducted to evaluate the satisfaction of public transit facilities in Shanghai, China. - I recommend you put year information in this sentence.

line 66-68. With the wide application of Internet, online surveys are becoming more and more popular [4].  Although offline survey tends to last longer, its accuracy is higher because of the better interactivity. This study combined the offline and online survey to collect the data. - For the literature review, I don't know why this information is needed here.

As we all know, service quality will affect residents’ travel choices. - Still, needs references although we all know.

Line 130-135 There are three reasons why questionnaire surveys are widely used. Firstly, it has high efficiency and is easy to operate. So this method can save manpower, material resources, financial resources and time. Secondly,  the survey results are relatively objective. If the real names don’t need to be signed on the questionnaire, the respondents tend to freely express their real thoughts. Thirdly, it is uniform. All respondents face the same questions and we can identify the respondents with different social consciousness. - This information might not need in this paper since we mostly know why we do conduct survey questions.

Regarding the conclusion part, Please try to add more about the practical part.

This manuscript is organized well and has a good chance to publish in this great journal after addressing the following concerns:

1.     I encourage you to add more detail about your core contributions in the abstract. Abstract has five-section and you should follow the best practices in your area! Please also mention the novelties and findings in the abstract.

2.     Some facts in the Introduction section need to be referenced. For example, the following sentence is mentioned 15% of total carbon emissions. This fact requires a reference. Please add references for the same cases.

"Carbon emissions in the transportation sector dramatically increase as accelerating motorization in China, accounting for about 15% of total carbon emissions".

3.     What is the purpose of using abbreviations? The complete wording of some abbreviations is mentioned again in the rest of the article. For example, "traditional energy buses (TEB)" is repeated in its entirety in the Conclusion section.

I suggest you write the complete phrases without mentioning abbreviations for phrases that are used only once in the manuscript.

4.     The conclusion of this manuscript is poor. Good results are presented in this manuscript. The recommendations of this paper can be discussed more in the conclusion section.

5.     The limitations of this research can be discussed more in the conclusion section.

Round 2

Reviewer 1 Report

The language and presentation is significantly improved, but some parts demand further improvement.

e.g.  Title is ambiguous, suggestion:

An empirical study of green travel in Heilongjiang Province,China

line 9  encouraging measures residents, what means "measures residents"???

line 42-43 "Take more buses, subways, cooperative....cycling" wrong grammar.

..... and more......

I suggest one editor (first language in English) to improve the language and presentation.
