Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The work is well written and documented. I have no significant comments.

Reviewer 2 Report

Well written report, interesting basis on which to expand and improve the method further.

The submitted paper is well-written and presents a nice application of
image processing for medical field.  The algorithm presented has a
potential of significantly improving the automatic detection of the ML
disease. While this may not mean the exclusion of expert judgement, at
least using this system an early screening can be performed by
appropriately trained personnels that are not necessarily experts in
this field. The proposed algorithm also seems to be promising enough for
developing automatic detection of other diseases, for which samples are
also visually distorted. The algorithm is simple enough such that its
implementation is quick. I also hope that the publication of this paper
will spark further discussion and development of other algorithms for
similar purposes.

Reviewer 3 Report

The paper is written well. Good work by authors.
