Dear Colleagues,

This Topic aims to explore the social and economic dimensions of disability and the role played by the Third Sector in promoting social inclusion, equity, and sustainable development. The economics of disability encompasses issues such as labor market participation, income disparities, productivity, and the design of public policies that foster accessibility and equal opportunities. It also addresses the economic impact of disability on households, businesses, and society, including costs of exclusion and benefits of inclusive practices.

The Third Sector—comprising non-profit organizations, social enterprises, and cooperatives—plays a critical role in delivering services, advocating for rights, and generating innovative solutions for people with disabilities. Understanding its economic contribution, governance models, and interaction with public and private sectors is essential for shaping effective strategies.

In alignment with these goals, we are pleased to highlight the upcoming 39th ASEPELT International Conference, which will be hosted in Ceuta (Spain) from 24 to 27 June 2026 under the same theme. This leading event for the Applied Economics community brings together research, academic debate, teaching innovation, and genuine publication opportunities. The conference features parallel sessions, research awards, and outstanding international keynote speakers such as Sophie Mitra, Muhammad Imran Qureshi, and Ademola Adenle. It is an excellent opportunity to share knowledge and place your work at the heart of today’s economic debate.

We welcome contributions on topics such as the following:
