This article shows the geometric decay rate of the Euler–Maruyama scheme for a one-dimensional stochastic differential equation towards its invariant probability measure under total variation distance. Firstly, the existence and uniqueness of invariant probability measure and the uniform geometric ergodicity of the chain are studied through the introduction of non-atomic Markov chains. Hydrogen (H2) is regarded as a promising option for sustainable energy systems; however, its large-scale use in electricity supply remains limited. This study develops a stochastic network optimization model to examine the applicability of H2-based electricity generation. The proposed Hydrogen Supply Chain (HSC) model evaluates cost and emission performance under uncertainty by considering disaster conditions, transmission losses, depreciation, and the time value of money. The Marmara Region of Türkiye is divided into 24 grid nodes, and a single-period model for 2023 is solved using Mixed-Integer Linear Programming (MILP). The HSC is allowed to meet 10–40% of electricity demand and to replace collapsed grid lines by supplying critical public centers (CPCs) during disasters. The results show that the HSC can meet 24.82% of demand, although at costs approximately 3.9 times higher than power grid (PG) electricity, while producing 3.44 MtCO2/year compared to 65.96 MtCO2/year from the PG. The model is then extended to a multi-period structure (2023–2053) and solved by Variable Neighborhood Search (VNS). Over time, H2 costs decline, and their share rises from 19% to 35%, while electricity costs decrease from 408 USD/MWh to 170 USD/MWh. These findings suggest that H2-based electricity supply can support long-term sustainability and resilience objectives in regional energy planning. Full article

Rapid and non-contact surface inspection is essential for quality control in modern production. Optical coherence tomography (OCT) can image a surface without contact, but turning those images into roughness parameters usually requires specialized processing software. This study examined whether a multimodal large language model (LLM) could estimate roughness parameters directly from OCT B-scans as a screening tool. The study was designed as a controlled macro-scale proof of concept using periodic, analytically defined phantoms rather than as validation on stochastic industrial micro-roughness. Five test surfaces with exactly known geometries were designed, 3D-printed, and scanned with a spectral-domain OCT system. For each surface, roughness values were computed from the theoretical shape, extracted from the OCT image using MATLAB, and also estimated by the LLM from the same image. The repeatability of the LLM was checked by running the same prompt ten times per surface. On a sawtooth profile, the LLM estimates varied by 3.8% for Ra, 4.2% for Rq, 3.5% for Rp, 2.8% for Rv, and 3.1% for Rt. Across all five surfaces, the variation in Ra and Rq was around 3–5%, and for Rt, it stayed below 5%. The results show that a generative AI approach can produce repeatable roughness estimates that are useful for comparative screening. This method offers a flexible option for surface comparison and AI-assisted quality control when calibrated measurements are not required. Full article

With growing interest in automated dismantling operations for hazardous environments, automatically planning safe and efficient disassembly sequences is becoming increasingly important. When a large structure is segmented into parts, the removal order must ensure that each part can be extracted safely without destabilising the remaining structure. This paper presents a comparative study of four algorithms for solving the disassembly sequencing problem in two dimensions: First Feasible Random Search (FFRS), Greedy Search (GS), Height-Decreasing Search (HDS), and Stochastic Tree Search (STS). The present study focuses specifically on sequencing feasibility under geometric and physical constraints, namely connectivity, accessibility, and structural stability. The 2D formulation provides a simplified yet computationally efficient testbed for analysing algorithmic behaviour under varying cutting complexities, with the objective of minimising the total removal trajectory length. Results show that while STS consistently finds optimal or near-optimal solutions, its factorial runtime limits scalability. GS produces high-quality solutions efficiently but can become trapped in infeasible configurations, whereas HDS offers strong reliability and speed at the expense of solution quality. Based on these findings, a hybrid height-based backtracking algorithm is proposed as a promising future direction, combining the efficiency of greedy search with the robustness of stochastic exploration. The results provide insight into the relative strengths and limitations of different sequencing strategies and establish a foundation for future extension to more realistic dismantling scenarios, including 3D and radiologically constrained applications. Accurate customer baseline load (CBL) estimation is crucial for incentive allocation and flexibility potential assessment in demand response (DR) programs. However, residential electricity consumption is highly stochastic, and long-duration DR events often result in missing critical load segments, making it difficult for traditional regression-based and daily load-profile clustering methods to accurately capture the counterfactual baseline pattern. To address this issue, this paper proposes a CBL estimation method that integrates a physics-/domain-informed response-consistency constraint with a conditional generative adversarial network. In the proposed framework, deep soft clustering is employed to extract weekly scale load modes, while mutual information (MI) and autocorrelation coefficient (ACC) are quantified as user-specific conditioning fingerprints to characterize intrinsic consumption behaviors. Comparative experiments on a publicly available real-world dataset demonstrate that the proposed method provides strong event-period accuracy among the recurrent and attention-based benchmark models considered in the main comparison. Under matched response-consistency budgets, PI-ICGAN achieves the lowest constrained DR-period MAE at the tested NRR targets, and the ablation results show that the attention, fingerprint, response-consistency, and GradNorm components contribute to different aspects of the accuracy–consistency trade-off. Lubricating oil monitoring provides continuous health information for early fault warning and maintenance decision-making in industrial gas turbines. However, real-world multi-sensor monitoring streams exhibit pronounced nonstationary thermodynamic drifts that often obscure subtle high-frequency residuals containing critical incipient degradation signatures. Prevailing data-driven monitoring models typically struggle to separate these macroscopic trends from stochastic wear-related fluctuations, and their restrictive distributional assumptions are often inadequate for the heteroscedastic and heavy-tailed nature of industrial residuals. To address these challenges, this study proposes ResAD-Net, a framework for early fault warning in nonstationary multi-sensor oil monitoring that combines trend–residual decoupling, trend-conditioned residual modeling, and residual-domain dependency learning. Specifically, a signal trend–residual decoupling strategy is adopted to separate slowly varying operational trends from stochastic residual fluctuations captured by the sensors, thereby exposing residual information that is more sensitive to incipient degradation. On this basis, a trend-conditioned diffusion model is introduced to characterize state-dependent, skewed residual distributions and generate residual sample ensembles for nonstationary monitoring. Meanwhile, a graph-based variational autoencoder is employed to learn latent intersensor dependency structures from the residual domain, providing diagnostic cues for temporal risk evolution analysis and sensor-level inspection. Experiments on a real-world industrial oil-monitoring record show that the proposed framework achieves an average F1-score of 0.985 with no observed false positives in the predefined pre-alarm reference interval of the finite test set. In addition to accurate anomaly detection, ResAD-Net captures early residual distributional shifts before clear macroscopic deviations emerge and provides diagnostic association cues for interpreting oil-monitoring changes around the system-level alarm. The transition towards sustainable manufacturing necessitates complex optimization that integrates economic goals with environmental factors, such as energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. This research addresses the critical challenge of optimizing the Incoming Quality Control (IQC) policy for raw material batches. The primary objective is formulated as a multi-criteria control problem that jointly minimizes the weekly final product cost, carbon footprint, and energy consumption. To handle sequential decision making under uncertainty, we adopt a scalarized reinforcement learning (RL) reward that combines these objectives into a single value function and explores different trade-offs through alternative weight configurations. To effectively handle the uncertainty in incoming quality and the sequential decision making required for dynamic control, the optimization problem is modeled as a Bayesian Adaptive Markov Decision Process (BAMDP). To maintain computational tractability despite the continuous belief space inherent in the BAMDP formulation, we employ a Deep Q-Network (DQN) architecture acting as an approximate dynamic programming solver. The Bayesian framework represents model uncertainty explicitly, updates beliefs as new inspection evidence becomes available, and allows prior domain knowledge on supplier quality to be incorporated into the learning process. The BAMDP formulation is used to learn a set of adaptive inspection policies that adjust the IQC strategy over time to achieve conflicting goals: reducing inspection costs while maintaining standard quality, minimizing energy consumption, and lowering CO2-equivalent emissions. The goal is to find robust policies that balance these trade-offs under different quality and demand conditions. This methodology aligns with the principles of Industry 5.0 by leveraging advanced artificial intelligence (AI) methods, such as reinforcement learning (RL), coupled with a stochastic simulation of the production system, based on a geometric/physical model of the component’s tolerance chains, to support decision-makers in designing and assessing sustainable IQC strategies. Comparative simulations on the case study, including a benchmark against ISO 2859-1 sampling plans, confirm that this dynamic and risk-aware optimization paradigm can reduce overall cost, energy use, and environmental impact across various quality conditions, while preserving outgoing quality. The digital preservation of built cultural heritage requires precise documentation techniques capable of capturing complex architectural geometries often affected by occlusions and data voids. This study presents a robust multi-sensor fusion workflow integrating Terrestrial Laser Scanning (TLS) and Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) photogrammetry for the 3D reconstruction of the Hasaköy (Sasima) Church in Niğde, Türkiye. To address the limitations of traditional registration methods, specifically the susceptibility of the Iterative Closest Point (ICP) algorithm to local minima in datasets with partial overlaps, this study proposes a fine-tuning approach based on the Multi-population Based Differential Evolution (MDE) algorithm. The methodology employs a coarse-to-fine strategy, initiating with Fast Point Feature Histogram (FPFH) extraction and RANSAC (Random Sample Consensus) for global alignment, followed by TR-ICP, MDE, PSO, and Aquila Optimizer (AO) evaluation, computational-time analysis, FPFH-radius sensitivity testing, and 6-DoF transformation decomposition to characterize both accuracy and operational cost. In the 30-run fine-tuning evaluation, MDE reduced the mean bidirectional trimmed RMSE from 0.4152 m for TR-ICP to 0.3726 m. With a population parameter of 10, MDE retained a low median RMSE of 0.3718 m, while PSO exhibited a wider stochastic tail under the same bounded 6-DoF search budget. AO produced a higher mean bidirectional trimmed RMSE of 0.5233 m. The decimeter-scale bidirectional RMSE should be interpreted as a cross-source, partial-overlap distance metric rather than sensor precision; the overlapping facade objective was approximately 2.4–2.8 cm, and the UAV block was independently controlled with a 1.34 cm GCP RMSE. This study establishes a transparent and reproducible framework for heritage documentation, supporting the faithful digital preservation of endangered monuments with complex typologies. Full article

Urban low-altitude unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) logistics networks face critical operational bottlenecks due to complex three-dimensional spatial blockages, continuous communication diffraction, and severe vulnerability to information-layer threats such as Automatic Dependent Surveillance—Broadcast (ADS-B) signal anomalies. To address these interconnected challenges, this paper proposes an event-driven, cloud–edge collaborative digital twin framework to guarantee continuous multi-link communication and flight safety. The architecture operates through a dual-tier “Teacher–Student” paradigm. Under secure conditions, a cloud digital twin acts as a high-capacity “Teacher,” employing Density-Based Spatial Clustering of Applications with Noise (DBSCAN) to partition heterogeneous user topologies. It then utilizes an energy-guided stochastic diffusion sampling (EGSDS) method to refine initial macroscopic routing, generating precise, outage-free global trajectories by systematically minimizing non-line-of-sight (NLoS) observation penalties and kinematic regularization costs. To counteract signal anomalies, a distributed Time Difference of Arrival (TDOA) anchor network continuously validates UAV coordinate integrity. If a threshold is breached, control authority is instantly transferred to the UAV’s edge digital twin. This resource-constrained edge tier relies on a localized “Student” network trained via progressive distillation. By compressing the computationally heavy iterative diffusion process into a rapid one-step inference model, the UAV autonomously generates a secure, short-range emergency path that strictly adheres to minimum communication thresholds. Once interference clears, the cloud seamlessly regains control to complete the logistics mission. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed scheme significantly outperforms conventional heuristic routing methods in cloud-based scenarios. Furthermore, the edge-based distillation mechanism substantially improves the overall trajectory survival rate under signal anomalies, ensuring resilient and continuous logistics operations. Magnetic anomaly detection is vulnerable to environmental noise and insufficient prior target information, making non-periodic anomaly signals difficult to detect at low-signal-to-noise-ratio (SNR) conditions. This paper proposes a detection method based on a multi-parameter-constrained mirror dual-branch biased monostable stochastic resonance (SR) system. Nonlinear odd-order bias terms are introduced into the conventional biased monostable potential function to build a multi-parameter-controllable SR model. This improves regulation of potential-well width, depth, and wall morphology, enhancing noise-energy utilization and responses to non-periodic features. Considering peak-type, valley-type, and bipolar anomaly morphologies, a mirror dual-branch SR structure is developed to cooperatively detect features with different polarities. To preserve temporal waveforms and time–frequency structures during parameter optimization, a composite metric combining the correlation coefficient and wavelet-domain image structural similarity index is constructed. Multi-fidelity robust Bayesian optimization is used to obtain a unified robust parameter set for the magnetic anomaly signal family. Experiments with simulated colored noise and measured geomagnetic noise show that the proposed method effectively recovers magnetic anomaly features under strong noise. At −19 dB SNR, its detection probability remains above 80%. Compared with orthogonal basis function decomposition, empirical mode decomposition, and complete ensemble empirical mode decomposition with adaptive noise, the method achieves better noise suppression, feature preservation, and detection performance under low-SNR conditions. Reliable spatial georeferencing of mobile mapping platforms is a fundamental prerequisite for high-fidelity urban remote sensing products such as 3D point clouds and digital twins. However, in deep urban canyons, severe signal occlusion and multipath effects reduce visible GNSS satellites, causing ambiguity resolution (AR) failure and degraded observation geometry for UGV-borne systems. Conventional Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) cooperation offers limited improvement due to symmetric ground-level occlusion. To overcome this, we propose an asymmetric GNSS/UWB fusion method that introduces Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) as high-altitude dynamic spatial anchors to reconstruct the 3D observation geometry. Two contributions are presented: (i) an asymmetric heterogeneous stochastic model coupling carrier-to-noise ratio (C/N0) and elevation angle to handle the quality disparity between air and ground sensor links, preventing multipath contamination of high-fidelity UAV observations; and (ii) a dynamic baseline constrained least-squares algorithm integrating Ultra-Wideband (UWB) ranging to stabilize GNSS positioning under high-dynamic relative motion. Validated through high-fidelity simulations and field experiments, the method achieves a 98.2% AR success rate and sub-decimeter 3D accuracy under extreme occlusion (≤3 visible satellites), while urban-canyon tests demonstrate 100% positioning availability across all evaluated epochs and reduce the 95th-percentile 3D error from 7.25 m to 0.19 m under the tested single-UAV/single-UGV configuration. The framework supports smart city modeling, 3D reconstruction, and infrastructure monitoring. Full article

This paper develops a unified asymptotic theory for conditional single-index U-statistics and the associated conditional U-processes in the setting of locally stationary functional time series subject to missing-at-random response mechanisms. The proposed framework addresses, within a single nonparametric inferential architecture, three major sources of complexity in modern functional data analysis: infinite-dimensional covariates, smoothly time-varying stochastic dynamics, and incomplete response observations. The methodology is based on a class of kernel-type estimators combining temporal localization, functional single-index smoothing, and inverse-propensity correction. Temporal localization captures the gradual evolution of the underlying regression structure, the single-index projection provides an effective dimension-reduction mechanism for functional covariates, and the propensity adjustment restores the target conditional functional under the MAR sampling scheme. The principal contribution of the paper is the establishment of weak convergence, in a suitable space of bounded functions, for the resulting propensity-adjusted conditional U-process indexed by a general class of measurable kernels. Under absolute regularity conditions, local stationarity assumptions, small-ball probability requirements, entropy restrictions of VC type, and uniform consistency of the propensity-score estimator, the normalized process is shown to converge weakly to a tight centered Gaussian process. The limiting covariance structure explicitly reflects the interaction between temporal smoothing, functional concentration, dependence, and the random loss of responses. In parallel, uniform convergence rates are derived for the associated conditional single-index U-statistic estimators, thereby quantifying the respective contributions of smoothing bias, stochastic fluctuation, local-stationarity approximation error, and missingness-induced variance inflation. A substantial part of the analysis is devoted to the technical difficulties created by the simultaneous presence of dependence, nonstationarity, functional covariates, and incomplete observations. The proofs combine Hoeffding-type decompositions adapted to weighted incomplete data, blocking and coupling arguments for absolutely regular triangular arrays, refined entropy bounds for kernel-indexed function classes, and small-ball probability techniques for functional covariates. The MAR mechanism is incorporated via inverse-propensity weighting, and its effects on the effective sample size, asymptotic variance, and bias structure are made explicit. The theory also provides a rigorous foundation for bandwidth selection through blocked, propensity-adjusted cross-validation and clarifies its relation to the corresponding oracle risk. The proposed framework encompasses a broad class of statistical learning and inference problems involving pairwise or higher-order functionals of functional time series. In particular, it applies to conditional Kendall-type functionals, discrimination problems, metric learning with incomplete labels, and conditional independence testing under local stationarity. A simulation study illustrates the finite-sample behavior of the proposed estimators and supports the theoretical findings across varying regimes of temporal nonstationarity, serial dependence, functional concentration, and response missingness. Overall, the results provide a mathematically rigorous and methodologically flexible foundation for inference from evolving functional data when dependence, infinite dimensionality, and incomplete observation are present simultaneously. As the core sensor of inertial measurement units, the reliability of Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS) gyroscopes is critical for long-term navigation and motion control applications. To bridge the mechanism-data gap in MEMS multi-mechanism degradation modeling, this paper proposes a physics-informed dual-indicator reliability assessment framework based on Wiener processes. Two degradation indicators under consideration are frequency-related degradation caused by stiffness degradation and Q-factor degradation caused by damping degradation, for which corresponding physics-embedded stochastic degradation models are formulated. The two indicators are normalized and fused through a generalized weighted limit state function, where failure is defined as gyroscope-level performance failure. Closed-form reliability expressions are derived for linear limit states, while Monte Carlo simulation is used for nonlinear cases. Reduced-order multiphysics simulation cases, including a double-ended fixed beam and a cantilevered MEMS mass block, are used to demonstrate the mechanism-to-indicator-to-reliability modeling procedure. The results show that the proposed dual-indicator framework provides more balanced reliability assessment than single-indicator analysis under the simulation setting. The proposed method offers an alternative mechanism-informed approach for reliability analysis and lifetime prediction of other MEMS devices. Full article

This paper develops a boundary-sensitive asymptotic theory for nonparametric conditional U-statistics smoothed by support-adapted asymmetric kernels when the response variable is subject to Missing-at-Random observation. The problem lies at the intersection of three well-established but traditionally separate lines of research: conditional U-statistics, asymmetric smoothing on constrained supports, and incomplete-data inference under MAR sampling. The contribution of the paper is not a novelty claim concerning any of these components in isolation. Rather, it consists in deriving a kernel-specific and MAR-aware limit theory for their simultaneous occurrence, where the estimators are nonlinear complete-case ratios of localized U-statistics and the localization devices are point-dependent approximate identities adapted to the geometry of the covariate support. The analysis covers three principal classes of support-respecting smoothers: Dirichlet kernels on the simplex, Bernstein polynomial smoothers, and multivariate beta kernels on hypercubes, with an additional extension to mixed continuous–categorical regressors. These smoothing schemes are not translation-invariant, and their local moments, effective support, normalizing constants and L2-masses vary with the evaluation point, especially near the boundary. Consequently, their incorporation into conditional U-statistics requires more than a direct transfer of ordinary asymmetric-kernel regression theory. The numerator and denominator of the estimators are localized U-statistics whose stochastic expansions are governed by Hoeffding projections, including canonical components that must be controlled uniformly over the conditioning domain. Under regularity, smoothness and positivity assumptions adapted to the MAR setting, we establish uniform consistency, weak and strong uniform convergence rates, stochastic expansions and asymptotic normality. The results are obtained both on fixed compact subsets and on interior regions approaching the boundary, thereby identifying how support geometry enters the bias and stochastic normalizations. A central feature of the theory is the separation between the deterministic effect of complete-case sampling and its stochastic effect. For the complete-case estimator, the natural deterministic equivalent is obtained by replacing the design density f with the effective complete-case density pf, where p is the propensity score. Thus, the MAR mechanism may enter higher-order deterministic bias constants through the local design tilt, whereas the leading stochastic dispersion reflects the loss of effective information through propensity score factors. The precise variance constants and normalizing rates remain kernel-specific, depending on the local L2-structure of the Dirichlet, Bernstein or beta smoothing device. The paper should therefore be viewed as a MAR extension and refinement of the complete-data asymmetric-kernel conditional U-statistic theory. It provides a common probabilistic architecture for several boundary-adapted smoothing schemes while retaining the kernel-dependent bias operators, variance constants, boundary regimes and Hoeffding-projection structures required for sharp asymptotic interpretation. Numerical experiments illustrate the finite-sample behavior predicted by the theory and highlight the interaction between support-adapted smoothing, boundary effects and incomplete response observation. Excessive fertilizer use threatens soil quality and the sustainability of grain production, making improvements in fertilizer use efficiency (FUE) essential. This study examines how conservation tillage (CT) practices affect FUE in China’s wheat–maize rotation system using survey data from 1528 farm households in Shandong, Henan, Anhui, Shaanxi, and Shanxi provinces of China. We estimate FUE using stochastic frontier analysis (SFA) and identify the treatment effects of tillage choices using a multinomial endogenous switching regression (MESR) model to correct for self-selection. Three tillage practices are compared: conventional rotary tillage with straw returning (CTS), no-tillage with straw returning (NTS), and deep tillage with straw returning (DTS). The results show that the average FUE of farmers in grain production in the sample area is 0.5045 and displays a bimodal distribution. Relative to CTS, NTS significantly improves farmers’ FUE, whereas DTS significantly reduces it. Mechanism analysis indicates that NTS improves FUE through both reduced fertilizer input and increased yield, while DTS mainly increases yield without reducing fertilizer input. Threshold analysis further shows that farm size conditions these effects. The findings suggest that CT policies should promote NTS more actively and apply DTS selectively according to farm size and local production conditions. Full article
