Health literacy improves informal caregivers’ knowledge and ability to provide care. The aim of this study is to analyze the impact of a group-based intervention on the health literacy of informal caregivers of children with special health needs (SHNs). The intervention focuses on movement, hydrotherapy, walking, and relaxation, with three evaluation stages. Participants included 34 informal caregivers of children with SHNs, recruited at a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Service. We collected sociodemographic data of the participants and measured their health literacy through the short-form version of the European Health Literacy Survey Questionnaire (HLS-EU-Q16). Around 70% of the participants were female, with a mean age of 41.06 ± 4.98 years, and nearly 85% were married or in a de facto union. About 26% were unemployed, and more than 65% had completed secondary education or higher. The mean scores of the HLS-EU-Q16 were statistically significantly higher throughout the intervention, with differences over the evaluation stages [F(2,56) = 75.55; p < 0.05]. A structured, dynamic, and group-based intervention plan showed improvements in the health literacy of the participants, with an increase in the percentage of participants with sufficient and excellent levels of health literacy at the end of the intervention. Background: It is well-established that, for adolescents to adopt sustainable healthy lifestyle behaviors, not only access to information but also the skills required to translate that information into action are critical. In this field, research that examines the relationship between e-health literacy and sustainable healthy lifestyle behaviors within the context of physical literacy is notably scarce. In this context, the aim of this study is to examine the effect of e-health literacy on a sustainable healthy lifestyle and to evaluate the mediating role of physical literacy in this relationship. Methods: A total of 835 adolescents from high schools across Türkiye voluntarily participated in this study. During the data collection process, the e-Health Literacy Scale, the Perceived Physical Literacy Scale, and the Healthy and Sustainable Lifestyle Scale were utilized. Data were analyzed using the JASP (version 0.18.3.0) software. Correlation analysis and structural equation modeling were conducted, and the bootstrap method (n = 5000) was employed for mediation analysis. Results: The effect of e-health literacy on a sustainable healthy lifestyle was found to be positive and statistically significant (β = 0.452, p < 0.001). Similarly, e-health literacy significantly predicted physical literacy (β = 0.755, p < 0.001), and physical literacy significantly predicted a sustainable healthy lifestyle (β = 0.310, p < 0.001). The mediating effect was also statistically significant (β = 0.234, p < 0.001). The model explained 32% of the variance in healthy lifestyle behaviors. Conclusions: The findings indicate that evaluating e-health literacy and physical literacy together provides a holistic approach to fostering sustainable healthy lifestyle habits among adolescents. It is recommended that intervention programs be structured to encompass both areas of competence. Full article

Despite the importance of financial literacy, particularly in sustaining and improving rural agriculture, it is documented in the literature that little is known about financial literacy, particularly in rural communities in developing countries. Responding to the calls for research to address this gap, the current study investigates how financial literacy relates to access to funding, innovative service adoption, and sustainable food production among agricultural food producers in Nigeria’s rural communities. A probability sampling technique was used to draw 460 samples from registered rural farmers in the Central Bank of Nigeria’s Anchored Borrower’s Programme for food production in Edo State, Nigeria. Quantitative data were collected using a structured questionnaire. The hypotheses were tested using regression analysis, while descriptive statistics were deployed to analyse the demographic data of the respondents. The outcomes suggest that financial literacy has significant links with access to funding, innovative service adoption and sustainable food production among agricultural food producers in Nigerian rural communities. Based on the outcomes, it is concluded that financial literacy significantly influences sustainable food production in Nigerian rural communities. As such, there is a need for the Nigerian government and financial authorities to embark on a financial literacy drive to increase financial literacy, particularly in light of ever-evolving disruptive financial technologies. Background: Vaccine hesitancy (VH) represents a growing concern among healthcare professionals and students, potentially undermining public health efforts. Nursing, pediatric nursing, and midwifery students are future vaccinators and educators, making it essential to understand their attitudes, knowledge, and confidence toward vaccination. This study aims to assess vaccine-related perceptions and behaviors among these student populations in an Italian university. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted between November 2022 and February 2024 at the University of Rome “Tor Vergata”. A structured, anonymous questionnaire, including the Vaccination Attitudes Examination (VAX) scale, vaccine knowledge items, and sources of information, was administered to students in nursing (n = 205), pediatric nursing (n = 46), and midwifery (n = 21). Statistical analyses included descriptive statistics, ANOVA, post hoc tests, and Mann–Whitney U tests. Results: Among the 272 participants, 20.6% reported refusing at least one recommended vaccine, and 18.4% delayed vaccination for non-medical reasons. Vaccine knowledge and confidence increased significantly with academic progression (p < 0.001). Midwifery students showed both the highest concern for long-term vaccine effects and the greatest confidence in vaccine safety. Institutional and scientific sources were the most trusted, though traditional and non-institutional media also influenced perceptions, particularly among midwifery students. Conclusions: Despite high COVID-19 vaccine uptake, VH persists among health professional students. Discipline-specific patterns highlight the need for early, targeted educational strategies to enhance vaccine literacy and reduce hesitancy. Tailored training may empower future professionals to become informed and credible advocates for vaccination. Full article

In modern medical education, a robust understanding of statistics is essential for fostering critical thinking, informed clinical decision-making, and effective communication. This paper explores the synergistic value of early and continued statistical education for medical students and residents, particularly in relation to the expanding field of sports supplementation and its impact on athletic performance. Early exposure to statistical principles enhances students’ ability to interpret clinical research, avoid cognitive biases, and engage in evidence-based practice. Continued statistical learning throughout residency further refines these competencies, enabling more sophisticated analysis and application of emerging data. The paper also addresses key challenges in integrating statistics into medical curricula—such as limited curricular space, student disengagement, and resource constraints—and proposes solutions including interactive learning, case-based teaching, and the use of public datasets. A unique emphasis is placed on connecting statistical literacy to the interpretation of research in sports science, particularly regarding the efficacy, safety, and ethical considerations of sports supplements. By linking statistical education to a dynamic and relatable domain like sports performance, educators can not only enrich learning outcomes but also foster lasting interest and competence in quantitative reasoning. This integrated approach holds promise for producing more analytically proficient and clinically capable physicians. Full article

Background/Objectives: Health literacy plays a fundamental role in adolescents’ health-related decisions and behaviors. The aim of our study was to assess the level of health literacy among 16–17-year-old students in Southern Hungary and to examine the associations between sociodemographic characteristics and health behaviors. Methods: This cross-sectional quantitative study was conducted in the autumn of 2024 in Baranya and Somogy counties. A total of 133 students completed a self-administered questionnaire including sociodemographic variables and health behaviors. Health literacy was measured using the validated HELMA-H instrument. Statistical analysis included chi-square tests, t-tests, and ANOVA (p < 0.05). Results: Overall, 62.7% of the students demonstrated adequate, while 37.3% demonstrated inadequate levels of health literacy. No significant association was found between overall health literacy and sociodemographic variables; however, partial associations were observed on specific subscales. Boys reported better access to health information (p = 0.037), while children of mothers with higher educational attainment scored better in comprehension (p = 0.042) and appraisal (p = 0.036). In the case of the numeracy subscale, children of mothers with the lowest educational level showed significantly better results (p = 0.006). Students with higher health literacy levels were less likely to smoke or consume caffeine; however, a reverse trend was observed regarding alcohol consumption. Physical activity showed a positive association with healthier behaviors (p < 0.05). Discussion: The use of digital technologies, interactive learning strategies, and the involvement of family members—especially mothers—may support the development of health-conscious decision-making in adolescents. Consequently, health education programs should focus not only on knowledge transfer but also on fostering critical thinking and decision-making skills. Full article

Accepting a certain degree of investment loss risk is essential for long-term portfolio management. However, overconfidence bias within financial literacy can prompt excessively risky behavior and amplify susceptibility to other cognitive biases. These tendencies can undermine investment loss tolerance beyond the baseline level shaped by sociodemographic, economic, psychological, and cultural factors. This study empirically examines the association between overconfidence and investment loss tolerance, which is measured by the point at which respondents indicate they would sell their investments in a hypothetical loss scenario. Using a large-scale dataset of 161,765 active investors from one of Japan’s largest online securities firms, we conduct ordered probit and ordered logit regression analyses, controlling for a range of sociodemographic, economic, and psychological variables. Our findings reveal that overconfidence is statistically significantly and negatively associated with investment loss tolerance, indicating that overconfident investors are more prone to prematurely liquidating assets during market downturns. This behavior reflects an impulse to avoid even modest losses. The findings suggest several possible practical strategies to mitigate the detrimental effects of overconfidence on long-term investment behavior. Full article

With the rapid digital transformation of healthcare services in India, this study investigates the factors influencing the behavioral shift from traditional hospital visits to e-health consultations. The primary objective was to analyze patient attitudes, satisfaction, and perceived barriers to adopting virtual healthcare, especially in urban and semi-urban settings. Methods: The methodology adopted in the study was descriptive, and a convenience sampling technique was used for data collection because the feasible times of the patients’ availabilities were taken into consideration for data collection. Both primary and secondary data were collected using questionnaires and literature. A sample size of 385 participants was used in this study. Various statistical tools, such as frequency, ANOVA, and Chi-square tests, were used to test the hypotheses. Results: It was observed from ANOVA and Chi-square tests that the factors for switching from traditional consultation to e-health services have a positive association. It was found that integrating data through influencing factors significantly (p < 0.001) improved decisions on e-health services. Conclusion: This study highlights the shift from in-person to e-health consultations driven by convenience, flexibility, and pandemic-related needs while acknowledging barriers such as digital literacy, infrastructure gaps, and trust issues. It recommends strategies, such as secure platforms, training, and integrated care models, for a more inclusive digital health future. Full article

A partially ordered set (or a poset, for short) is a set endowed with a partial order relation, i.e., with a reflexive, anti-symmetric, and transitive binary relation. As mathematical objects, posets have been intensively studied in the last century, coming to play essential roles in pure mathematics, logic, and theoretical computer science. More recently, they have been increasingly employed in data analysis, multi-criteria decision-making, and social sciences, particularly for building synthetic indicators and extracting rankings from multidimensional systems of ordinal data. Posets naturally represent systems and phenomena where some elements can be compared and ordered, while others cannot be and are then incomparable. This makes them a powerful data structure to describe collections of units assessed against multidimensional variable systems, preserving the nuanced and multi-faceted nature of the underlying domains. Moreover, poset theory collects the proper mathematical tools to treat ordinal data, fully respecting their non-numerical nature, and to extract information out of order relations, providing the proper setting for the statistical analysis of multidimensional ordinal data. Currently, their use is expanding both to solve open methodological issues in ordinal data analysis and to address evaluation problems in socio-economic sciences, from multidimensional poverty, well-being, or quality-of-life assessment to the measurement of financial literacy, from the construction of knowledge spaces in mathematical psychology and education theory to the measurement of multidimensional ordinal inequality/polarization. Critical data literacy (CDL) has emerged as a crucial component in data science education, transcending traditional disciplinary boundaries. Promoting CDL requires collaborative approaches to enhance learners’ skills in data science, going beyond mere quantitative reasoning to encompass a comprehensive understanding of data workflows and tools. Despite the growing literature on CDL, there is still a need to explore how students use data science practices for supporting the learning of CDL throughout a summer-long data science program. Drawing on situative perspectives of learning, we utilize a descriptive case study to address our research question: How do data science practices taught in a classroom setting differ from those enacted in real-world social justice projects? Key findings reveal that while the course focused on abstract principles and basic technical skills, the Food Justice Project provided students with a more applied understanding of data tools, ethics, and exploration. Through the project, students demonstrated a deeper engagement with CDL, addressing real-world issues through detailed data analysis and ethical considerations. This manuscript adds to the literature within data science education and has the potential to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, preparing students to address real-world data science challenges through their coursework. More Is Still Not Enough—What Is Necessary and Sufficient for Happiness?

Happiness is defined as well-being and contentment with life. The growing imperative to evaluate well-being beyond economic growth alone has led to the formulation of holistic indices that better reflect quality of life and sustainable development goals. This has resulted in the emergence of the Happiness Score (HS), which adopts a more holistic and human-centred perspective on development and well-being. The present study takes the Happiness Score as a basis for the identification of some of the main determinants of happiness in an empirical and data-driven perspective. To this end, data from 145 countries was analysed, using statistical methodologies such as Generalised Linear Models (GLM), Principal Component Analysis (PCA), fuzzy set Qualitative Comparison Analysis (fsQCA) and the decision tree machine learning approach. A range of indices were considered to translate the reality of countries in different socio-economic dimensions, the level of development of each country, and the continent to which it belongs. The African continent demonstrates substantial disparities across virtually all variables and is frequently associated with the most unfavourable values for each index. The indicators that exerted the most profound influence on happiness were identified as the freedom to make life choices, literacy rate, and Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita. These results inform policy strategies aligned with sustainable development, emphasising that enhancing happiness requires multidimensional action beyond economic indicators—particularly in low- and middle-income countries. Preventive Health Behavior and Readiness for Self-Management in a Multilingual Adult Population: A Representative Study from Northern Italy

Background/Objectives: Preventive health behaviors are key to disease prevention and health system sustainability; however, population-level factors remain understudied in multilingual regions. South Tyrol, an autonomous multilingual province in Northern Italy, provides a unique setting to examine how sociodemographic and linguistic factors shape preventive behaviors. Methods: A stratified, population-representative survey of 2090 adults (aged ≥18 years) was conducted in South Tyrol in 2024. Preventive behavior was assessed using the validated 16-item Good Health Practices Scale (GHP-16). Key predictors included age, sex, education, living situation, language group, employment in the health/social sector, health literacy (HLS-EU-Q16), patient activation (PAM-10), and the mistrust of professional health information. Weighted statistics and multivariable linear regression were used to identify associations. Results: The GHP-16 scores varied significantly across sociodemographic and psychosocial strata. Female sex, older age, higher education, higher patient activation, and sufficient health literacy were independently associated with greater engagement in preventive behaviors. Patient activation showed the strongest graded effect (β = 1.739). The mistrust of health professionals was inversely associated with behavior (β = –0.050, 95% CI: –0.090 to –0.009). Italian speakers reported higher GHP-16 scores than German speakers (β = 0.377), even after adjusting for covariates. Item-level analysis revealed small but consistent differences, particularly in information-seeking and vaccination behavior. Conclusions: Preventive behaviors in South Tyrol are shaped by demographic, psychosocial, and linguistic factors. Patient activation and health literacy are key modifiable predictors, whereas language group differences suggest structural and trust-related disparities that require tailored public health strategies in multilingual settings. Objective: Although the negative effects of polypharmacy on older adults are well-documented, studies exploring its relationship with frailty and quality of life within the framework of community-based rehabilitation (CBR) remain scarce. In this context, the aim of this study was to compare frailty and quality of life levels between older adults with and without polypharmacy and to examine the relationship between these parameters from a CBR perspective. The ultimate purpose of this study was to determine the usefulness of CBR. Method: A total of 120 community-dwelling older adults (60 with polypharmacy, 60 without polypharmacy), aged 65–75 years (mean age = 68.18 ± 3.50), were included in a community-based assessment carried out under the coordination of Lokman Hekim University in Ankara, Turkey. The use of five to nine medications was taken as a reference for those with polypharmacy, and the use of less than two medications was taken as a reference for those without polypharmacy. The quality of life of the older adults in the study was assessed with the Nottingham Health Profile (NHP), and frailty was assessed with the Edmonton Frailty Scale (EFS). In line with CBR principles, the findings were interpreted with a focus on promoting community-wide strategies to support older adults. Results: The study found a statistically significant difference in NHP and EFS results between older adults with and without polypharmacy (p < 0.05). In addition, a statistically significant relationship was found between NHP and all subdomains of NHP and EFS (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Older adults with polypharmacy had higher levels of frailty and lower quality of life, and an increase in frailty was significantly associated with a decrease in quality of life in both groups. These findings highlight the importance of community-level preventive interventions to support healthy aging. Within the framework of CBR, strategies such as creating accessible physical activity areas at the neighborhood level; organizing informative seminars on frailty, quality of life, medication use and health literacy in collaboration with volunteer health professionals and local authorities; and creating volunteer support networks to increase social interaction can contribute to the control of these symptoms in older adults. Background/Objectives: Considering the extensive use of digital tools among adolescents and the effects of game addiction on physical, social, emotional, and cognitive domains, this study aimed to investigate the relationship between digital game addiction and the vestibulo-ocular reflex in high school students. Methods: In this descriptive relational study, the relationship between digital game addiction and the functional head impulse test was investigated in adolescents. Two groups of adolescents, with and without digital game addiction, were compared based on the functional head impulse test. The Digital Game Addiction Scale was administered to assess digital game addiction in adolescents aged 14 to 18 years. Results: The findings were analyzed statistically, and the results indicated a statistically significant relationship between digital game addiction and the vestibulo-ocular reflex, with digital game addiction negatively affecting the vestibulo-ocular reflex in adolescents. Conclusions: The findings indicate that digital game addiction in adolescents may impair VOR function, suggesting a potential negative impact on balance and perceptual processing. These results highlight the importance of early interventions and digital literacy programs to mitigate the adverse effects of excessive gaming during adolescence. Full article

This study examined the effects of information literacy (IL) on entrepreneurial intention and entrepreneurial skills among business students in Sargodha, Pakistan. A quantitative research design was employed along with a survey method. The data were gathered using a structured and self-administered questionnaire to collect data from a sample of 277 students, recruited through a convenient sampling process. Data analysis involved the application of descriptive and inferential statistics in SPSS (Version 21). The results suggested that the business students’ IL levels were not optimal, with no significant differences noted based on age, gender, semester, and academic disciplines. However, IL skills showed a positive correlation with students’ CGPA. The results also showed that IL had a positive effect on entrepreneurial intentions and entrepreneurial skills. In essence, students with higher levels of IL tended to exhibit better entrepreneurial intention and skills compared to those with lower IL levels. These results inform educators and policymakers in shaping policies and practices for business education in general and entrepreneurial education in particular. This research would be a valuable addition to the existing body of knowledge on IL research in the context of academia in general and business and entrepreneurial education in particular, as a limited number of studies have appeared in the existing literature.
