To enhance the ability to identify and analyze the construction safety risks of prefabricated building projects, this paper explores the risk factors affecting the construction safety of prefabricated buildings from the perspective of the construction stage. Based on the WSR theory, this paper identifies risk-influencing factors from five dimensions: personnel, materials, management, technology, and environment, and constructs a safety risk assessment index system. This paper establishes a risk assessment model based on the G1-CRITIC method and cloud model. Firstly, it quantitatively analyzes the weights of the risk indicators for prefabricated building construction, and then evaluates the specific degree of impact of each indicator on the construction risk of this type of project. The research results show that the project is at the low-risk level, but there are still some potential risks in terms of material and technical factors, which require close attention and targeted management. The evaluation results obtained by applying this model are consistent with the current actual situation of prefabricated building construction, further demonstrating the applicability of this model. The risk assessment model proposed in this paper, by focusing on a specific type of risk, comprehensively incorporates the fuzziness and randomness of risk factors, thereby more effectively capturing the dynamic characteristics of risk evolution. This model can effectively evaluate the level of safety risk management and plays a positive role in reducing the incidence of engineering accidents. Furthermore, it also provides practical experience that can be drawn upon by risk managers of similar projects which holds significant theoretical value and practical guiding significance. Blasting operations in surface mining pose a risk of flyrock, which is a critical safety concern for both personnel and infrastructure. This study presents the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and photogrammetric techniques to improve the accuracy of blast design, particularly in relation to controlling burden values and reducing flyrock. The research was conducted in a basalt quarry in Lower Silesia, where high rock fracturing complicated conventional blast planning. A DJI Mavic 3 Enterprise UAV was used to capture high-resolution aerial imagery, and 3D models were created using Strayos software. These models enabled precise analysis of bench face geometry and burden distribution with centimeter-level accuracy. The results showed a significant improvement in identifying zones with improper burden values and allowed for real-time corrections in blasthole design. Despite a ten-fold reduction in the number of images used, no loss in model quality was observed. UAV-based surveys followed software-recommended flight paths, and the application of this methodology reduced the flyrock range by an average of 42% near sensitive areas. This approach demonstrates the operational benefits and enhanced safety potential of integrating UAV-based photogrammetry into blasting design workflows. Full article

The highway and bridge industry is facing persistent challenges related to the high turnover of technical personnel, which poses risks to the continuity and sustainability of infrastructure development. Although Geographic Information System (GIS) training has increasingly been advocated as a strategy to stabilize the workforce, its practical application remains relatively limited across China. Drawing on the Conservation of Resources (COR) theory, this study examines whether GIS training is associated with lower turnover intention among technical staff, potentially through enhanced perceptions of career growth and reduced work-related anxiety. Based on 412 valid responses—primarily from technical personnel employed by major infrastructure enterprises such as regional subsidiaries of the China Communications Construction Group (CCCG) and China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC)—the study employs Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to assess the proposed relationships. The findings indicate that GIS training is negatively associated with turnover intention, with career growth partially mediating this association. Additionally, work anxiety moderates the relationship, such that the link between GIS training and turnover intention appears weaker under higher levels of anxiety. This research contributes to bridging the gap between training practices and theoretical understanding, offering insights to inform workforce retention strategies in technology-intensive industries. Recent outbreaks of highly pathogenic human RNA viruses from probable zoonotic origin have highlighted the relevance of epidemic preparedness as a society. However, research in vaccinology and virology, as well as epidemiologic surveillance, is often constrained by the biological risk that live virus experimentation entails. These also involve expensive costs, time-consuming procedures, and advanced personnel expertise, hampering market access for many drugs. Most of these drawbacks can be circumvented with the use of pseudotyped viruses, which are surrogate, non-pathogenic recombinant viral particles bearing the surface envelope protein of a virus of interest. Pseudotyped viruses significantly expand the research potential in virology, enabling the study of non-culturable or highly infectious pathogens in a safer environment. Most are derived from lentiviral vectors, which confer a series of advantages due to their superior efficiency. During the past decade, many studies employing pseudotyped viruses have evaluated the efficacy of vaccines or monoclonal antibodies for relevant pathogens such as HIV-1, Ebolavirus, Influenza virus, or SARS-CoV-2. In this review, we aim to provide an overview of the applications of pseudotyped viruses when evaluating the neutralization capacity of exposed individuals, or candidate vaccines and antivirals in both preclinical models and clinical trials, to further help develop effective countermeasures against emerging neutralization-escape phenotypes. Operations management personnel emphasize the maintenance of workforce empowerment on the shop floor. This is made possible by implementing effective operations and human resource management practices. However, organizations are adept at controlling the workforce empowerment domain within operational scenarios. In the current industry revolution scenario, industry personnel often face failure due to a laggard mindset in the face of industry revolutions. There are higher possibilities of failure because of standardized operations controlling the shop floor. Organizations utilize well-established human resource concepts, including McClelland’s acquired needs theory, Herzberg’s two-factor theory, and Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, in order to enhance the workforce’s performance on the shop floor. Current SME individuals require fast-paced approaches for tracking the performance and idleness of a workforce in order to control them more efficiently in both flexible and transformational stages. The present study focuses on investigating the parameters and factors that contribute to workforce empowerment in an industrial revolution scenario. The present research is used to develop a framework utilizing operations and human resource management approaches in order to identify and address the issues responsible for deteriorating workforce contributions. The framework includes HRM and operations management practices, including Herzberg’s two-factor theory, Maslow’s theory, and lean and smart approaches. The developed framework contains four phases for achieving desired outcomes on the shop floor. The developed framework is validated by implementing it in a real-life electric vehicle manufacturing organization, where the human resources and operations team were exhausted and looking to resolve employee-related issues instantly and establish a sustainable work environment. The current industry is transforming from Industry 3.0 to Industry 4.0, and seeks future-ready innovations in operations, control, and monitoring of shop floor setups. The operations management and human resource management practices teams reviewed the results over the next three months after the implementation of the developed framework. The results revealed an improvement in workforce empowerment within the existing work environment, as evidenced by reductions in the number of absentees, resignations, transfer requests, and medical issues, by 30.35%, 94.44%, 95.65%, and 93.33%, respectively. A few studies have been conducted on workforce empowerment by controlling shop floor scenarios through modifications in operations and human resource management strategies. The results of this study can be used to fulfil manufacturers’ needs within confined constraints and provide guidelines for efficiently controlling workforce performance on the shop floor. Constraints refer to barriers that have been decided, including production time, working time, asset availability, resource availability, and organizational policy. The study proposes a decision-making plan for enhancing shop floor performance by providing suitable guidelines and an action plan, taking into account both workforce and operational performance. Background/Objectives: This scoping review critically evaluated existing literature and summarized the impact of occupational, physiological, and psychological stressors on adrenal and neuroendocrine responses, body composition, and physical performance amongst women in tactical occupations. Methods: Boolean searches identified potentially qualifying reports involving: (1) adult women (≥19 y) currently employed or completing their training for a tactical profession; (2) ≥1 marker of “stress”; and (3) ≥1 adrenal, neuroendocrine, body composition, or fitness/performance outcome. Quantitative data (e.g., sample characteristics, outcomes of interest) were extracted and summarized. The completeness of reporting for each study was documented using existing checklists and quantified as: low (<50%), moderate (50–79%), or high (≥80%). Results: 40 studies (k) of moderate reporting quality (~64%) were included in the final sample (3693 women); 11 studies (28%) focused on women exclusively, and 16 studies identified sex differences in ≥1 outcome. Most studies involved military trainee populations (80%, k = 32). Occupation-related stress tended to negatively impact adrenal, neuroendocrine, body composition, and performance outcomes. Conclusions: This review highlights progress in assessing occupational performance in female tactical personnel exposed to diverse stressors; however, our understanding remains incomplete due to methodological and conceptual limitations in the literature. Holistic research strategies are needed to capture the complexity of performance readiness in women, integrating how stress affects key tactical performance aspects such as muscle physiology, reproductive health, and energy and nutrient balance in realistic operational contexts. Integrating such data is vital for informing policy, improving readiness, and enhancing the health and career longevity of female tactical personnel. Full article

Lubricant condition analysis is a valuable diagnostic tool for assessing engine performance and ensuring the reliable operation of diesel engines. While traditional diagnostic techniques—such as Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR)—are constrained by slow response times, high costs, and the need for specialized personnel. In contrast, dielectric spectroscopy, impedance analysis, and soft computing offer real-time, non-destructive, and cost-effective alternatives. This review examines recent advances in integrating these techniques to predict lubricant properties, evaluate wear conditions, and optimize maintenance scheduling. In particular, dielectric and impedance spectroscopies offer insights into electrical properties linked to oil degradation, such as changes in viscosity and the presence of wear particles. When combined with soft computing algorithms, these methods enhance data analysis, reduce reliance on expert interpretation, and improve predictive accuracy. The review also addresses challenges—including complex data interpretation, limited sample sizes, and the necessity for robust models to manage variability in real-world operations. Future research directions emphasize miniaturization, expanding the range of detectable contaminants, and incorporating multi-modal artificial intelligence to further bolster system robustness. Collectively, these innovations signal a shift from reactive to predictive maintenance strategies, with the potential to reduce costs, minimize downtime, and enhance overall engine reliability. This comprehensive review provides valuable insights for researchers, engineers, and maintenance professionals dedicated to advancing diesel engine lubricant monitoring. Full article

Artificial intelligence (AI) has already played a significant role in the healthcare sector, particularly in image-based medical diagnosis. Deep learning models have produced satisfactory and useful results for accurate decision-making. Among the various types of medical images, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is frequently utilized in deep learning applications to analyze detailed structures and organs in the body, using advanced intelligent software. However, challenges related to performance and data privacy often arise when using medical data from patients and healthcare institutions. To address these issues, new approaches have emerged, such as federated learning. This technique ensures the secure exchange of sensitive patient and institutional data. It enables machine learning or deep learning algorithms to establish a client–server relationship, whereby specific parameters are securely shared between models while maintaining the integrity of the learning tasks being executed. Federated learning has been successfully applied in medical settings, including diagnostic applications involving medical images such as MRI data. This research introduces an analytical intelligence system based on an Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) framework that employs federated learning to provide a safe and effective diagnostic solution for brain tumor identification. By utilizing specific brain MRI datasets, the model enables multiple local capsule networks (CapsNet) to achieve improved classification results. The average accuracy rate of the CapsNet model exceeds 97%. The precision rate indicates that the CapsNet model performs well in accurately predicting true classes. Additionally, the recall findings suggest that this model is effective in detecting the target classes of meningiomas, pituitary tumors, and gliomas. The integration of these components into an analytical intelligence system that supports the work of healthcare personnel is the main contribution of this work. Evaluations have shown that this approach is effective for diagnosing brain tumors while ensuring data privacy and security. Moreover, it represents a valuable tool for enhancing the efficiency of the medical diagnostic process. Full article

Background: Sexuality is a central aspect of being human, even if people experience it in different ways in various stages of life. Sexuality in older people may be expressed, as well as affection, companionship, touch, and physical contact. However, older peoples’ sexual needs are not properly considered by themselves, caregivers, or healthcare professionals. Reviews on barriers related to identification and satisfaction of sexual needs of people living in nursing home are scarce. In this scenario we intended to summarize the state of evidence regarding sexual need identification and satisfaction among older people living in nursing homes and possible barriers that could limit sexual need identification and satisfaction. Methods: We carried out a narrative review. The included studies responded to the research question, using the following key words: nursing homes, sexuality or sexual need, or sexual behavior, older people. Searched databases included PubMed, Embase, CINAHL, PsycInfo, and Scopus. Results: After searching and screening we included 22 studies, finding three main topics: 1. identification of sexual needs by residents and healthcare personnel attitude and practice; 2. barriers and reasons hindering the identification of sexual needs; and 3. manifestation and satisfaction of sexual needs. Conclusions: The findings showed that nursing homes’ residents have different sexual needs, but there are many organizational, educational, and cultural barriers and negative attitudes of healthcare personnel. Supporting nursing home residents to express their sexual needs is a challenge for the healthcare professionals and managers of nursing homes. Full article

Background/Objectives: Pathology is often perceived as a technical medical specialty that lacks direct contact with the patient. However, oncological histopathological diagnosis requires a high degree of moral and emotional responsibility. The objective of this study was to investigate how empathy is manifested toward the “invisible” patient, the emotional impact on pathology staff, and potential repercussions in their personal lives. Method: We conducted a descriptive, cross-sectional study with a quantitative component, using an anonymous 22-item questionnaire among Romanian pathologists and medical personnel working in pathology services. The questionnaire was focused on three research directions: professional empathy in the absence of direct patient contact, the emotional impact of oncologic diagnosis on medical personnel in pathology departments, and the carryover of emotions from professional to personal life. A total of 165 respondents were included in the study (physicians, technicians, registrars). Results: Most of the respondents consider that the absence of the patient’s direct contact does not cancel the empathy, this being felt in a cognitive and more natural way. Over 60% of the respondents see oncologic histopathological diagnosis as an emphatic medical act. Over 80% of the respondents experience a sense of emotional responsibility and 70% consider that professional training does not include adequate emotional support. There is a high interest in empathy and psychological support. The professional activity of a pathologist may influence sleep, dreams, and the perception on their own health status. Diagnosing pediatric or young patients is perceived as particularly emotionally challenging. Collegial support is moderate and discussion about professional stress is rare. Conclusions: Empathy is present and relevant in pathology, despite the absence of direct patient interaction. Oncological diagnostics has a significant emotional impact on pathology department personnel, with the need to acknowledge the emotional dimension of the profession and to integrate psychological support mechanisms into pathology practice. Background/Objectives: This study examines the academic discourse surrounding Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD) and Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) for first responders using Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) topic modeling. It aims to uncover latent topical structures in the literature and critically evaluate assumptions to identify gaps and limitations. Methods: A corpus of 214 research article abstracts related to CISD/M was gathered from the Web of Science Core Collection. After preprocessing, we used Orange Data Mining software’s LDA tool to analyze the corpus. We tested models ranging from 2 to 10 topics. To guide interpretation and labeling, we evaluated them using log perplexity, topic coherence, and LDAvis visualizations. A four-topic model offered the best balance of detail and interpretability. Results: Four topics emerged: (1) Critical Incident Stress Management in medical and emergency settings, (2) psychological and group-based interventions for PTSD and trauma, (3) peer support and experiences of emergency and military personnel, and (4) mental health interventions for first responders. Key gaps included limited focus on cumulative trauma, insufficient longitudinal research, and variability in procedural adherence affecting outcomes. Conclusions: The findings highlight the need for CISD/M protocols to move beyond event-specific interventions and address cumulative stressors. Recommendations include incorporating holistic, proactive mental health strategies and conducting longitudinal studies to evaluate long-term effectiveness. These insights can help refine CISD/M approaches and enhance their impact on first responders working in high-stress environments. Full article

Satisfaction with Health Facility Personnel Among Older People with Disabilities in Chile: An Observational Study Based on the 2024 DISCA Survey

Achieving health equity for people with disabilities requires addressing the barriers that they face when accessing healthcare. Older adults with disabilities may experience compounded disparities, yet little research has explored their satisfaction with health facility personnel, including non-healthcare staff. This study examines differences in satisfaction with health facility personnel between younger (18–59 years) and older (60+) adults with disabilities in Chile. Data from the 2024 Disability and Citizenship (DISCA) survey were analysed using chi-square tests to examine differences between younger and older people with disabilities with regard to their satisfaction with health facility personnel. Ordered logistic regressions were employed to predict high satisfaction, given socioeconomic and health-related variables. Findings indicated that a higher percentage of older adults with disabilities reported high satisfaction with health facility personnel compared to younger adults. Ordered logistic regressions confirmed that older adults had greater odds of reporting high satisfaction with doctors (OR: 3.83), other health professionals (OR: 4.66), paramedical technicians (OR: 4.31), and administrative staff (OR: 3.13). These results suggest that age influences satisfaction levels among people with disabilities, potentially due to varying expectations, experiences, or interactions with health facility personnel. Understanding the underlying reasons for these age-related differences is essential to inform policies and practices that ensure equitable, person-centred care for people with disabilities across the life course. Traditional project scheduling tools like Gantt charts struggle with dynamic adjustments and real-time optimization in complex construction projects, leading to inefficiencies and delays. This study addresses this challenge by proposing a dynamic optimization framework that integrates Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance schedule management. The framework comprises three layers: a data layer for collecting BIM and real-time site data, an analysis layer powered by AI algorithms for predictive analytics and optimization, and an application layer for visualizing progress and supporting decision-making. Through a case study on a large-scale water reservoir tunnel project in China, the framework demonstrated significant improvements in identifying schedule risks, optimizing resource allocation, and enabling real-time adjustments. Key innovations include a 4-in-1 Network Diagram Engine and a Blueprint Engine, which facilitate intuitive progress monitoring and automated task management. However, limitations in personnel skill matching, interface complexity, and mobile system performance were identified. This research advances the theoretical foundation of BIM-AI integration and provides practical insights for improving scheduling efficiency and project outcomes in the construction industry. Future work should focus on enhancing human resource management modules and refining system usability for broader adoption. Full article

Background/Objectives: Healthcare institutions, similar to other service providers, should prioritize their clients—in this case, patients—to effectively meet their needs. However, fulfilling this objective becomes increasingly challenging due to numerous factors. Therefore, this study explores student patient satisfaction by examining the effects of environmental quality dimensions (Internal Spaces, External Spaces, And Social Environment) and green practices, as well as investigating how environmental knowledge moderates the relationship between green practices and patient satisfaction. Methods: Given the latent nature of the variables investigated, structural equation modeling (SEM) was employed. Some variables were conceptualized as hierarchical constructs comprising higher-order and lower-order components. Before testing the relationships among variables, reliability and validity assessments were performed. For this purpose, the SmartPLS 4 software was used. Since the focus of the research was on students’ health in general, the sample consisted of 280 students from the University of Novi Sad (Republic of Serbia). Results: Among the three environmental quality dimensions, only the Social Environment had a significant and positive influence on patient satisfaction. Furthermore, the green practices emerged as a significant determinant of patient satisfaction. However, the moderating effect of environmental knowledge on this relationship was found to be non-significant. Conclusions: This research underscores the significance of patient satisfaction as a critical objective for healthcare institutions. Special attention should be directed toward enhancing positive interactions between medical staff and patients and adopting green practices. Consequently, certain managerial aspects related to human resource management (such as adequate staffing and organization of personnel) should be considered. In addition, issues concerning financial challenges and benefits regarding the implementation of green practices in healthcare were presented. Full article

This study presents an analysis of England’s 2023 national assessment of assistive technology (AT) access and use, with a particular focus on the qualitative impact of AT as described by users. It aims to address limitations in conventional AT impact assessments, which often prioritize clinical outcomes or user satisfaction, by offering a deeper account of how impact is experienced in everyday life. Drawing on data from a nationally representative survey of 7000 disabled adults and children, as well as six focus group discussions and 28 semi-structured interviews with stakeholders across the WHO 5Ps framework (People, Providers, Personnel, Policy, and Products), the study applies Amartya Sen and Martha Nussbaum’s Capability Approach to explore these experiences. Using inductive thematic analysis, we identify three main domains of user-reported impact: Functions and Activities (e.g., mobility, communication, vision, leisure, daily routines, and cognitive support), Outcomes (e.g., autonomy, quality of life, safety, social participation, wellbeing, and work and learning), and Lived Experience (e.g., access barriers, essentiality, identity and emotional connection, peace of mind, and sense of control and confidence). These findings offer a more user-centered understanding of AT impact and can inform the development of future measurement tools, research design, and government-led interventions to improve AT provision.
