Automatic component recognition plays a crucial role in intelligent ship manufacturing, but existing methods suffer from low recognition accuracy and high computational cost in industrial scenarios involving small samples, component stacking, and diverse categories. To address the requirements of shipbuilding industrial applications, a Triplet Spatial Reconstruction Attention (TSA) mechanism that combines threshold-based feature separation with triplet parallel processing is proposed, and a lightweight You Only Look Once Ship (YOLO-Ship) detection network is constructed. Unlike existing attention mechanisms that focus on either spatial reconstruction or channel attention independently, the proposed TSA integrates triplet parallel processing with spatial feature separation–reconstruction techniques to achieve enhanced target feature representation while significantly reducing parameter count and computational overhead. Experimental validation on a small-scale actual ship component dataset demonstrates that the improved network achieves 88.7% mean Average Precision (mAP), 84.2% precision, and 87.1% recall, representing improvements of 3.5%, 2.2%, and 3.8%, respectively, compared to the original YOLOv8n algorithm, requiring only 2.6 M parameters and 7.5 Giga Floating-point Operations per Second (GFLOPs) computational cost, achieving a good balance between detection accuracy and lightweight model design. Future research directions include developing adaptive threshold learning mechanisms for varying industrial conditions and integration with surface defect detection capabilities to enhance comprehensive quality control in intelligent manufacturing systems. The level of participation and performance of water user associations (WUAs) in drained and irrigated areas is influenced by many factors. This paper aims to identify the main challenges to the functioning and performance of these associations in Poland and Ukraine using the methodology of international comparative analysis. We examined legal, organizational, and financial framework of WUAs performance in Poland and Ukraine based on selected case study areas. The results of the study indicate that creation of WUAs in both countries can be assessed as beneficial for sustainable water development in general. However, it is found that the actions intended to bring benefits can actually exacerbate the problem of drought and water shortages. Research shows that the lack of complete documentation on the layout of the drainage networks plays a huge constraint factor that can lead to problems with controlling the reconstruction of drainage networks and significant deterioration of water relations. Another significant problem is the restriction of the scope of WUA activities in Poland to those types of actions subsidized by the state, while lacking financial resources for other necessary activities. Due to the challenges in obtaining full-body point clouds and the time-consuming registration of parametric body models, we propose an end-to-end Front Point Cloud Parametric Body Regression Network (FPCR-Net). This network directly regresses the pose and shape parameters of a parametric body model from a single front point cloud of the human body. The network first predicts the label probabilities of corresponding body parts and the back point cloud from the input front point cloud. Then, it extracts equivariant features from both the front and predicted back point clouds, which are concatenated into global point cloud equivariant features. For pose prediction, part-level equivariant feature aggregation is performed using the predicted part label probabilities, and the rotations of each joint in the parametric body model are predicted via a self-attention layer. Shape prediction is achieved by applying mean pooling to part-invariant features and estimating the shape parameters using a self-attention mechanism. Experimental results, both qualitative and quantitative, demonstrate that our method achieves comparable accuracy in reconstructing body models from front point clouds when compared to implicit representation-based methods. Moreover, compared to previous regression-based methods, vertex and joint position errors are reduced by 43.2% and 45.0%, respectively, relative to the baseline. Full article

To enhance the reliability of electric propulsion in electric aircraft and address power interruptions caused by current sensor failures, this study proposes a current sensorless fault-tolerant control strategy for permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs) based on a long short-term memory (LSTM) network. First, a hierarchical architecture is constructed to fuse multi-phase electrical signals in the fault diagnosis layer (sliding mode observer). A symbolic function for the reaching law observer is designed based on Lyapunov theory, in order to generate current predictions for fault diagnosis. Second, when a fault occurs, the system switches to the LSTM reconstruction layer. Finally, gating units are used to model nonlinear dynamics to achieve direct mapping of speed/position to phase current. Verification using a physical prototype shows that the proposed method can complete mode switching within 10 ms after a sensor failure, which is 80% faster than EKF, and its speed error is less than 2.5%, fully meeting the high speed error requirements of electric aircraft propulsion systems (i.e., ≤3%). The current reconstruction RMSE is reduced by more than 50% compared with that of the EKF, which ensures continuous and reliable control while maintaining the stable operation of the motor and realizing rapid switching. The intelligent algorithm and sliding mode control fusion strategy meet the requirements of high real-time performance and provide a highly reliable fault-tolerant scheme for electric aircraft propulsion. To tackle the challenges of detecting complex cracks on large stone slabs with noisy textures, this paper presents the first domain-optimized framework for stone slab cracks, an improved semantic segmentation model (YOLOv8-Seg) synergistically integrating U-NetV2, DSConv, and DySample. The network uses the lightweight U-NetV2 backbone combined with dynamic feature recalibration and multi-scale refinement to better capture fine crack details. The dynamic up-sampling module (DySample) helps to adaptively reconstruct curved boundaries. In addition, the dynamic snake convolution head (DSConv) improves the model’s ability to follow irregular crack shapes. Experiments on the custom-built ST stone crack dataset show that YOLOv8-Seg achieves an mAP@0.5 of 0.856 and an mAP@0.5–0.95 of 0.479. The model also reaches a mean intersection over union (MIoU) of 79.17%, outperforming both baseline and mainstream segmentation models. Ablation studies confirm the value of each module. Comparative tests and industrial validation demonstrate stable performance across different stone materials and textures and a 30% false-positive reduction in real production environments. Overall, YOLOv8-Seg greatly improves segmentation accuracy and robustness in industrial crack detection on natural stone slabs, offering a strong solution for intelligent visual inspection in real-world applications. Next Point-of-Interest (POI) recommendation is aimed at predicting users’ future visits based on their current status and historical check-in records, providing convenience to users and potential profits to businesses. The Graph Neural Network (GNN) has become a common approach for this task due to the capabilities of modeling relations between nodes in a global perspective. However, most existing studies overlook the more prevalent heterogeneous relations in real-world scenarios, and manually constructed graphs may suffer from inaccuracies. To address these limitations, we propose a model called Heterogeneous Graph Structure Learning for Next POI Recommendation (HGSL-POI), which integrates three key components: heterogeneous graph contrastive learning, graph structure learning, and sequence modeling. The model first employs meta-path-based subgraphs and the user–POI interaction graph to obtain initial representations of users and POIs. Based on these representations, it reconstructs the subgraphs through graph structure learning. Finally, based on the embeddings from the reconstructed graphs, sequence modeling incorporating graph neural networks captures users’ sequential preferences to make recommendations. Experimental results on real-world datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed model. Additional studies confirm its robustness and superior performance across diverse recommendation tasks. Full article

It is well-established that principal leadership significantly influences student learning in developed countries, yet much less is known about how leadership practices manifest in complex systems like China’s, where rapid modernization intersects with deep-rooted educational traditions. In particular, Chinese principals face multiple challenges in balancing the implementation of educational reform policies, high parental expectations, and their own educational ideology, all within limited resources. The current study examines these challenges in Shenzhen, a city which typically manifests them through its rapid development. Specifically, we took a phenomenographic approach and interviewed the principals and staff from five prestigious primary schools to extract the key components behind the diverse school leaders’ styles and practices. Results showed that, the Chinese leadership practice model consists of five key components: mission setting, infrastructure reconstruction, teacher development, learning improvement, and educators’ networking. Although the first four components in this model align with established theories in developed countries, networking was identified as a distinctive and critical element for securing resources and fostering collaboration. These findings may broaden the scope of leadership theories and underscore the need to contextualize leadership practices based on local challenges and dynamics. It also offers practical insights for school leaders on navigating challenges to improve teacher and student outcomes. Full article

Microbiome analysis has revolutionized our understanding of various biological processes, spanning human health and epidemiology (including antimicrobial resistance and horizontal gene transfer), as well as environmental and agricultural studies. At the heart of microbiome analysis lies the characterization of microbial communities through the quantification of microbial taxa and their dynamics. In the study of bacterial abundances, it is becoming more relevant to consider their relationship, to embed these data in the framework of network theory, allowing characterization of features like node relevance, pathways, and community structure. In this study, we address the primary biases encountered in reconstructing networks through correlation measures, particularly in light of the compositional nature of the data, within-sample diversity, and the presence of a high number of unobserved species. These factors can lead to inaccurate correlation estimates. To tackle these challenges, we employ simulated data to demonstrate how many of these issues can be mitigated by applying typical transformations designed for compositional data. These transformations enable the use of straightforward measures like Pearson’s correlation to correctly identify positive and negative relationships among relative abundances, especially in high-dimensional data, without having any need for further corrections. However, some challenges persist, such as addressing data sparsity, as neglecting this aspect can result in an underestimation of negative correlations. Full article

To address the inefficiency of traditional concrete crack detection methods and the heavy reliance of supervised learning on extensive labeled data, in this study, an intelligent assessment method of concrete damage based on pseudo-label semi-supervised learning and fractal geometry theory is proposed to solve two core tasks: one is binary classification of pixel-level cracks, and the other is multi-category assessment of damage state based on crack morphology. Using three-channel RGB images as input, a dual-path collaborative training framework based on U-Net encoder–decoder architecture is constructed, and a binary segmentation mask of the same size is output to achieve the accurate segmentation of cracks at the pixel level. By constructing a dual-path collaborative training framework and employing a dynamic pseudo-label refinement mechanism, the model achieves an F1-score of 0.883 using only 50% labeled data—a mere 1.3% decrease compared to the fully supervised benchmark DeepCrack (F1 = 0.896)—while reducing manual annotation costs by over 60%. Furthermore, a quantitative correlation model between crack fractal characteristics and structural damage severity is established by combining a U-Net segmentation network with the differential box-counting algorithm. The experimental results demonstrate that under a cyclic loading of 147.6–221.4 kN, the fractal dimension monotonically increases from 1.073 (moderate damage) to 1.189 (failure), with 100% accuracy in damage state identification, closely aligning with the degradation trend of macroscopic mechanical properties. In complex crack scenarios, the model attains a recall rate (Re = 0.882), surpassing U-Net by 13.9%, with significantly enhanced edge reconstruction precision. Compared with the mainstream models, this method effectively alleviates the problem of data annotation dependence through a semi-supervised strategy while maintaining high accuracy. It provides an efficient structural health monitoring solution for engineering practice, which is of great value to promote the application of intelligent detection technology in infrastructure operation and maintenance. In time series analysis, the ability to effectively handle data with varying sampling rates is crucial for accurate modeling and analysis. This paper presents the MR-BoF (Multi-Resolution Bag of Functions) framework, which leverages sampling-rate-independent techniques to decompose time series data while accommodating signals with differing resolutions. Unlike traditional methods that require uniform sampling frequencies, the BoF framework employs a flexible encoding approach, allowing for the integration of multi-resolution time series. Through a series of experiments, we demonstrate that the BoF framework ensures the precise reconstruction of the original data while enhancing resampling capabilities by utilizing decomposed components. The results show that this method offers significant advantages in scenarios involving irregular sampling rates and heterogeneous acquisition systems, making it a valuable tool for applications in fields such as finance, healthcare, industrial monitoring, IoT networks, and sensor networks. Background and Objectives: There is a global rise of public interest in integrative medicine. The principles of integrative medicine combining conventional medicine with evidence-based complementary therapies have been implemented in many medical areas, including plastic surgery, to improve patient’s outcome. The aim of the present study was to systematically analyze the application and use of additional non-pharmacological interventions (NPIs) of patients of a German department of plastic surgery. Materials and Methods: The present real-world data study utilized data from the Network Oncology registry between 2016 and 2021. Patients included in this study were at the age of 18 or above, stayed at the department of plastic surgery and received at least one plastic surgical procedure. Adjusted multivariable logistic regression analyses were performed to detect associations between the acceptance of NPIs and predicting factors such as age, gender, year of admission, or length of hospital stay. Results: In total, 265 patients were enrolled in the study between January 2016 and December 2021 with a median age of 65 years (IQR: 52–80) and a male/female ratio of 0.77. Most of the patients received reconstructive surgery (90.19%), followed by hand surgery (5.68%) and aesthetic surgery (2.64%). In total, 42.5% of the enrolled patients accepted and applied NPIs. Physiotherapy, rhythmical embrocations, and compresses were the most often administered NPIs. Conclusions: This exploratory analysis provides a descriptive overview of the application and acceptance of NPIs in plastic surgery patients within a German integrative care setting. While NPIs appear to be well accepted by a subset of patients, further prospective studies are needed to evaluate their impact on clinical outcomes such as postoperative recovery, pain management, patient-reported quality of life, and overall satisfaction with care. Main roads are usually equipped with traffic flow monitoring devices in the road network to record the traffic flow data of the main roads in real time. Three complex scenarios, i.e., Y-junctions, multi-lane merging, and signalized intersections, are considered in this paper by developing a novel modeling system that leverages only historical main-road data to reconstruct branch-road volumes and identify pivotal time points where instantaneous observations enable robust inference of period-aggregate traffic volumes. Four mathematical models (I–IV) are built using the data given in appendix, with performance quantified via error metrics (RMSE, MAE, MAPE) and stability indices (perturbation sensitivity index, structure similarity score). Finally, the significant traffic flow change points are further identified by the PELT algorithm. Full article

Multimodal sentiment analysis (MSA) faces key challenges such as incomplete modality inputs, long-range temporal dependencies, and suboptimal fusion strategies. To address these, we propose MGMR-Net, a Mamba-guided multimodal reconstruction and fusion network that integrates modality-aware reconstruction with text-centric fusion within an efficient state-space modeling framework. MGMR-Net consists of two core components: the Mamba-collaborative fusion module, which utilizes a two-stage selective state-space mechanism for fine-grained cross-modal alignment and hierarchical temporal integration, and the Mamba-enhanced reconstruction module, which employs continuous-time recurrence and dynamic gating to accurately recover corrupted or missing modality features. The entire network is jointly optimized via a unified multi-task loss, enabling simultaneous learning of discriminative features for sentiment prediction and reconstructive features for modality recovery. Extensive experiments on CMU-MOSI, CMU-MOSEI, and CH-SIMS datasets demonstrate that MGMR-Net consistently outperforms several baseline methods under both complete and missing modality settings, achieving superior accuracy, robustness, and generalization. Rotating compressors are foundational in various industrial processes, particularly in the oil-and-gas sector, where reliable fault detection is crucial for maintaining operational continuity. While Graph Attention Network (GAT) frameworks are widely available, this study advances the state of the art by introducing a Bayesian GAT method specifically tailored for vibration-based compressor fault diagnosis. The approach integrates domain-specific digital-twin simulations built with Rotordynamic software (1.3.0), and constructs dual adjacency matrices to encode both physically informed and data-driven sensor relationships. Additionally, a hybrid forecasting-and-reconstruction objective enables the model to capture short-term deviations as well as long-term waveform fidelity. Monte Carlo dropout further decomposes prediction uncertainty into aleatoric and epistemic components, providing a more robust and interpretable model. Comparative evaluations against conventional Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM)-based autoencoder and forecasting methods demonstrate that the proposed framework achieves superior fault-detection performance across multiple fault types, including misalignment, bearing failure, and unbalance. Moreover, uncertainty analyses confirm that fault severity correlates with increasing levels of both aleatoric and epistemic uncertainty, reflecting heightened noise and reduced model confidence under more severe conditions. By enhancing GAT fundamentals with a domain-tailored dual-graph strategy, specialized Bayesian inference, and digital-twin data generation, this research delivers a comprehensive and interpretable solution for compressor fault diagnosis, paving the way for more reliable and risk-aware predictive maintenance in complex rotating machinery. High-quality green gardens can markedly enhance the quality of life and mental well-being of their users. However, health and lifestyle constraints make it difficult for people to enjoy urban gardens, and traditional methods struggle to offer the high-fidelity experiences they need. This study introduces a 3D scene reconstruction and rendering strategy based on implicit neural representation through the efficient and removable neural radiation fields model (NeRF-RE). Leveraging neural radiance fields (NeRF), the model incorporates a multi-resolution hash grid and proposal network to improve training efficiency and modeling accuracy, while integrating a segment-anything model to safeguard public privacy. Take the crabapple tree, extensively utilized in urban garden design across temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere. A dataset comprising 660 images of crabapple trees exhibiting three distinct geometric forms is collected to assess the NeRF-RE model’s performance. The results demonstrated that the ‘harvest gold’ crabapple scene had the highest reconstruction accuracy, with PSNR, LPIPS and SSIM of 24.80 dB, 0.34 and 0.74, respectively. Compared to the Mip-NeRF 360 model, the NeRF-RE model not only showed an up to 21-fold increase in training efficiency for three types of crabapple trees, but also exhibited a less pronounced impact of dataset size on reconstruction accuracy. This study reconstructs real scenes with high fidelity using virtual reality technology. It not only facilitates people’s personal enjoyment of the beauty of natural gardens at home, but also makes certain contributions to the publicity and promotion of urban landscapes. Full article
