An upgrade to the quasi-Newton (QN) family of methods for solving unconstrained optimization problems is proposed. This research focuses on a detailed investigation of the Barzilai and Borwein (BB) gradient methods. The upgrade involves the use of neutrosophic logic to determine an additional parameter that will be incorporated into an appropriate step size for the BB iterations. Unlike previous research, which incorporated neutrosophic concepts into gradient methods by using only two objective-function values to calculate the input parameter during the neutrophication phase, this study determines the input parameter using three consecutive objective-function values. The main idea is to use appropriately defined membership functions to perform neutrosophication and de-neutrosophication. The set of if–then rules is based on two or more successive values of the objective function. This strategy also directly influences the design of the newly proposed method. Numerical comparisons demonstrate superior performance of the proposed methods with respect to Dolan–Moré performance profiles including the number of iterations, central processing unit (CPU) time, and number of function evaluations. Furthermore, experimental results confirm that the proposed algorithms can be effectively applied to image restoration tasks, particularly for image denoising, where they achieve competitive reconstruction quality and stable convergence behavior. Uncertainty is the biggest issue when modeling real-world multi-level fractional optimization problems. In this paper, a fully intuitionistic fuzzy multi-level multi-objective fractional programming problem (FIF-MLMOFPP) is tackled via two different approaches. Because of the ambiguity introduced in the model, all the parameters and decision variables in each objective function and feasible domain are intuitionistic fuzzy numbers (IFNs). Firstly, FIF-MLMOFPP is converted into a non-fractional fully intuitionistic fuzzy multi-level multi-objective programming problem (FIF-MLMOPP) utilizing a series of transformations. The accuracy functions and ordering relations of IFNs are employed to transform the non-fractional FIF-MLMOPP into a deterministic variant. An interactive approach is first applied to solve the problem by transforming it into discrete multi-objective optimization problems (MOOPs). Each separate MOOP addresses the ϵ-constraint methodology and the goal of satisfactoriness. Neutrosophic fuzzy goal programming (NFGP) is the second approach applied to solve the FIF-MLMOFPP, as the marginal evaluations of predetermined neutrosophic fuzzy objectives for all functions at each level are attained through various membership functions, including degrees of truth, indeterminacy, and falsehood, within neutrosophic uncertainty. The NFGP algorithm is presented to achieve optimal levels for each marginal evaluation objective by minimizing their deviation variables, thus yielding a suitable solution. To confirm and approve the two suggested approaches, a numerical example and a comparison between them are presented. Finally, recommendations for additional research are given. Full article

Instead of measuring the distance between two points with a positive real number, determining the degree to which the distance between these two points is close, not close, or uncertain allows for more detailed measurement. Recently, researchers have overcome this grading problem by using probability distribution functions, along with fuzzy, intuitionistic fuzzy, and neutrosophic sets. This study pioneers neutrosophic quadruple metric spaces as a powerful new tool for quantifying distances under complex, multi-dimensional uncertainty. It provides a comprehensive mathematical structure, including topology, convergence theory, and completeness, and handles both symmetric and asymmetric cases, generalising previous neutrosophic metric results. For this purpose, neutrosophic quadruple metric spaces were derived from neutrosophic metric spaces in order to better model situations involving uncertainty. Also, we generalised the findings obtained with the neutrosophic metric to the quadruple neutrosophic metric. Full article

In this manuscript, we present the classical Hutchinson–Barnsley theory on the product neutrosophic fractal spaces by utilizing an iterated function system, which is enclosed by neutrosophic Edelstein contractions and a finite number of neutrosophic b-contractions. Further, we provide a sequence of sets that, under appropriate conditions and in terms of the Hausdorff neutrosophic metric, converge to the attractor set of specific neutrosophic iterated function systems. Furthermore, we present a fuzzy variant of α-dense curves that can accurately approximate the attractor set of certain iterated function systems with barely noticeable and controlled errors. In the end, we make a connection between the above-discussed concepts of neutrosophic theory and α-density theory. Full article

Survey sampling has a wide range of applications in biomedical, meteorological, stock exchange, marketing, and agricultural research based on data collected through sample surveys or experimentation. The collected set of information may have a fuzzy nature, be indeterminate, and be summarized by a fuzzy number rather than a crisp value. The neutrosophic statistics, a generalization of fuzzy statistics and classical statistics, deals with the data that have some degree of indeterminacy, imprecision, and fuzziness. In this article, we introduce a fuzzy decision-making approach for deciding a sample size under a fuzzy measurement cost modeled by an intuitionistic fuzzy cost function. Our research introduces neutrosophic ratio-type estimators for estimating the population mean of the neutrosophic study variable YN[YL,YU] utilizing all the indeterminate values of the neutrosophic auxiliary variable XN[XL,XU] rather than only the extreme values XL and XU. Three simulation studies are carried out to explain the proposed methods of parameter estimation, sample size determination, and efficiency comparison. The results reveal that the proposed neutrosophic class of estimators produces more accurate and precise estimates of the neutrosophic population mean than the existing neutrosophic estimators in simple random sampling, which is the ultimate goal of inferential statistics. Because of the intricate nature of real-world scenarios, experts could encounter many ambiguities throughout the decision-making (DM) process. Adopting a DM strategy in conditions of indeterminacy so that the decision makers are limited to a small number of experts is always helpful in real life. Neutrosophic conception is a convenient technique for handling inconsistent, ambiguous, and uncertain values. This research presents an autocratic DM strategy based on Neutrosophic Sets (NSs) to address these ambiguities. The essential component of the suggested technique is the conversion of diverse management decision and weight matrices into a unified evaluation matrix. Supplier Selection (SS) is a multi-criteria decision-making problem where a limited number of alternative suppliers are evaluated using a limited set of criteria. The suggested methodology based on different score functions is applied to SS issues involving construction materials. The numerical illustrations indicate the success of the introduced method in selecting the best supplier with the least computational complexity. The important point obtained in this research is that adopting a suitable score function appropriate to the characteristics of the data plays an important role in the decision-making process. By using the generalization of the neutrosophic q-Poisson distribution series, we introduce a new subclass of analytic and bi-univalent functions defined in the open unit disk. We then apply the q-Gegenbauer polynomials to investigate the estimates for the Taylor coefficients and Fekete–Szegö type inequalities of the functions belonging to this new subclass. In addition, we consider several corollaries and the consequences of the results presented in this paper. Evaluating pharmaceutical enterprises with sustainable and high-quality development ability (SHQDA) can not only provide strategies for the pharmaceutical management department in formulating enterprise development plans, but also provide suggestions and guidance for enterprises to enhance their core competitiveness. Nevertheless, the prior research possesses several deficiencies in coping with the assessment of enterprises with SHQDA under uncertain environments to predict the psychological behavior of the evaluator and the correlation among the evaluation criteria. To conquer the aforementioned defects, we propose an integrated framework for rating pharmaceutical enterprises that incorporates regret theory, measurement alternatives and ranking based on the compromise solution (MARCOS) and Heronian mean operating within a single-value neutrosophic set (SVNS) environment. First, the single-valued neutrosophic number (SVNN) is employed to portray the assessment information of experts. Then, a novel single-valued neutrosophic score function is presented to enhance the rationality of the SVNN comparison. Next, a combined criteria weight model is constructed by synthesizing the best and worst method (BWM) and criteria importance through intercriteria correlation (CRITIC) approach to attain more reasonable and credible weight information. Furthermore, the integrated assessment framework combining regret theory-MARCOS method and Heronian mean operator is put forward to assess and select the enterprises with SHQDA under a single-valued neutrosophic setting. Ultimately, an empirical concerning the pharmaceutical enterprises assessment is presented within SVNS to illustrate the usefulness and effectiveness of the presented SVNS regret theory-MARCOS method. Thereafter, the sensitivity analysis and comparison analysis are implemented to provide evidence for the rationality and superiority of the proposed method. Full article

This manuscript aims to propose a new extension of the EDAS method, adapted for usage with single-valued neutrosophic numbers. By using single-valued neutrosophic numbers, the EDAS method can be more efficient for solving complex problems whose solution requires assessment and prediction, because truth- and falsity-membership functions can be used for expressing the level of satisfaction and dissatisfaction about an attitude. In addition, the indeterminacy-membership function can be used to point out the reliability of the information given with truth- and falsity-membership functions. Thus, the proposed extension of the EDAS method allows the use of a smaller number of complex evaluation criteria. The suitability and applicability of the proposed approach are presented through three illustrative examples. Full article

Modeling uncertainties with spherical linear Diophantine fuzzy sets (SLDFSs) is a robust approach towards engineering, information management, medicine, multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) applications. The existing concepts of neutrosophic sets (NSs), picture fuzzy sets (PFSs), and spherical fuzzy sets (SFSs) are strong models for MCDM. Nevertheless, these models have certain limitations for three indexes, satisfaction (membership), dissatisfaction (non-membership), refusal/abstain (indeterminacy) grades. A SLDFS with the use of reference parameters becomes an advanced approach to deal with uncertainties in MCDM and to remove strict limitations of above grades. In this approach the decision makers (DMs) have the freedom for the selection of above three indexes in [0,1]. The addition of reference parameters with three index/grades is a more effective approach to analyze DMs opinion. We discuss the concept of spherical linear Diophantine fuzzy numbers (SLDFNs) and certain properties of SLDFSs and SLDFNs. These concepts are illustrated by examples and graphical representation. Some score functions for comparison of LDFNs are developed. We introduce the novel concepts of spherical linear Diophantine fuzzy soft rough set (SLDFSRS) and spherical linear Diophantine fuzzy soft approximation space. The proposed model of SLDFSRS is a robust hybrid model of SLDFS, soft set, and rough set. We develop new algorithms for MCDM of suitable clean energy technology. We use the concepts of score functions, reduct, and core for the optimal decision. A brief comparative analysis of the proposed approach with some existing techniques is established to indicate the validity, flexibility, and superiority of the suggested MCDM approach. Full article

In this manuscript, we extend the traditional multi-attributive border approximation area comparison (MABAC) method for the multiple-criteria group decision-making (MCGDM) with triangular fuzzy neutrosophic numbers (TFNNs) to propose the TFNNs-MABAC method. In the proposed method, we utilize the TFNNs to express the values of criteria for each alternative in MCGDM problems. First, we briefly acquaint the basic concept of TFNNs and describe its corresponding some operation laws, the functions of score and accuracy, and the normalized hamming distance. We then review two aggregation operators of TFNNs. Afterward, we combine the traditional MABAC method with the triangular fuzzy neutrosophic evaluation and provide a sequence of calculation procedures of the TFNNs-MABAC method. After comparing it with some TFNNs aggregation operators and another method, the results showed that our extended MABAC method can not only effectively handle the conflicting attributes, but also practically deal with incomplete and indeterminate information in the MCGDM problem. Therefore, the extended MABAC method is more effective, conformable, and reasonable. Finally, an investment selection problem is demonstrated as a practice to verify the reasonability of our MABAC method. Full article

The shortest path problem is a topic of increasing interest in various scientific fields. The damage to roads and bridges caused by disasters makes traffic routes that can be accurately expressed become indeterminate. A neutrosophic set is a collection of the truth membership, indeterminacy membership, and falsity membership of the constituent elements. It has a symmetric form and indeterminacy membership is their axis of symmetry. In uncertain environments, the neutrosophic number can more effectively express the edge distance. The objectives in this study are to solve the shortest path problem of the neutrosophic graph with an edge distance expressed using trapezoidal fuzzy neutrosophic numbers (TrFNN) and resolve the edge distance according to the score and exact functions based on the TrFNN. Accordingly, the use of a circle-breaking algorithm is proposed to solve the shortest path problem and estimate the shortest distance. The feasibility of this method is verified based on two examples, and the rationality and effectiveness of the approach are evaluated by comparing it with the Dijkstra and Bellman algorithms. This paper introduces Single Valued Refined Neutrosophic Set (SVRNS) which is a generalized version of the neutrosophic set. It consists of six membership functions based on imaginary and indeterminate aspect and hence, is more sensitive to real-world problems. Membership functions defined as complex (imaginary), a falsity tending towards complex and truth tending towards complex are used to handle the imaginary concept in addition to existing memberships in the Single Valued Neutrosophic Set (SVNS). Several properties of this set were also discussed. The study of imaginative pretend play of children in the age group from 1 to 10 years was taken for analysis using SVRNS, since it is a field which has an ample number of imaginary aspects involved. SVRNS will be more apt in representing these data when compared to other neutrosophic sets. Machine learning algorithms such as K-means, parallel axes coordinate, etc., were applied and visualized for a real-world application concerned with child psychology. The proposed algorithms help in analysing the mental abilities of a child on the basis of imaginative play. These algorithms aid in establishing a correlation between several determinants of imaginative play and a child’s mental abilities, and thus help in drawing logical conclusions based on it. A brief comparison of the several algorithms used is also provided. Full article

To address issues involving inconsistencies, this paper proposes a stochastic multi-criteria group decision making algorithm based on neutrosophic soft sets, which includes a pair of asymmetric functions: Truth-membership and false-membership, and an indeterminacy-membership function. For integrating an inherent stochastic, the algorithm expresses the weights of decision makers and parameter subjective weights by neutrosophic numbers instead of determinate values. Additionally, the algorithm is guided by the prospect theory, which incorporates psychological expectations of decision makers into decision making. To construct the prospect decision matrix, this research establishes a conflict degree measure of neutrosophic numbers and improves it to accommodate the stochastic multi-criteria group decision making. Moreover, we introduce the weighted average aggregation rule and weighted geometric aggregation rule of neutrosophic soft sets. Later, this study presents an algorithm for neutrosophic soft sets in the stochastic multi-criteria group decision making based on the prospect theory. Finally, we perform an illustrative example and a comparative analysis to prove the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed algorithm. Full article

This research sets the basis for modeling the performance indicators of financial assets using triangular neutrosophic fuzzy numbers. This type of number allows for the modeling of financial assets performance indicators by taking into consideration all the possible scenarios of their achievement. The key performance indicators (KPIs) modeled with the help of triangular fuzzy neutrosophic numbers are the return on financial assets, the financial assets risk, and the covariance between financial assets. Thus far, the return on financial assets has been studied using statistical indicators, like the arithmetic and geometric mean, or using the financial risk indicators with the help of the squared deviations from the mean and covariance. These indicators are well known as the basis of portfolio theory. This paper opens the perspective of modeling these three mentioned statistical indicators using triangular neutrosophic fuzzy numbers due to the major advantages they have. The first advantage of the neutrosophic approach is that it includes three possible symmetric scenarios of the KPIs achievement, namely the scenario of certainty, the scenario of non-realization, and the scenario of indecision, in which it cannot be appreciated whether the performance indicators are or are not achieved. The second big advantage is its data series clustering, representing the financial performance indicators by which these scenarios can be delimitated by means of neutrosophic fuzzy numbers in very good, good or weak performance indicators. This clustering is realized by means of the linguistic criteria and measuring the belonging degree to a class of indicators using fuzzy membership functions. The third major advantage is the selection of risk mitigation analysis scenarios and the formation of financial assets’ optimal portfolios. Full article
