With the increasing demand for electricity in modern society, the scale of substation construction projects has greatly expanded, and the ever-increasing technical requirements have led to rising project costs year by year. Effective cost management not only enhances a company’s market competitiveness but also ensures the construction quality of projects. This paper addressed the issues of cost management in substation projects by exploring the application of unbalanced bidding, target costing, and improved earned value management (EVM) in cost control. By introducing quality indicators to improve traditional EVM, this study proposed a comprehensive evaluation model that considers cost, schedule, and quality to ensure a good construction performance of substations. Using LT 220 kV substation of Company A project as a case study, the paper analyzed specific measures of cost management in the bidding decision, preparation, and construction phases, verifying the feasibility and effectiveness of the improved model. The results indicated that the enhanced EVM can effectively improve cost control in substation projects, achieving an optimal balance among quality, schedule, and cost with significant practical application value. Exercise is a cornerstone of diabetes management, but the onset of diabetic foot disease (DFD) can significantly limit its implementation. Meanwhile, physical activity (PA) has been shown to reduce the risk of developing DFD through various mechanisms, and emerging evidence also supports the role of exercise in managing the active phase of the condition. Appropriately tailored PA offers both local and systemic benefits—even in clinical contexts where foot offloading is recommended. The research indicates that selected exercises can be safely incorporated into care plans, providing therapeutic effects without compromising wound healing. Drawing from current knowledge based on basic science, clinical research, and relatively general recommendations, this article summarizes the local and systemic effects of properly selected exercises in patients with DFD. It explains the underlying mechanisms and briefly discusses practical examples, integrating the most recently published findings. Full article

Neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) is a genetic disorder characterized by a wide range of clinical manifestations, including café-au-lait macules, cutaneous neurofibromas, and an increased risk of certain malignancies. Historically, there has been no approved medical therapy specifically aimed at achieving tumor shrinkage or regression. Surgical intervention is often limited by factors such as the inaccessibility of the tumor location, involvement of critical tissues, suboptimal timing, or the inability to achieve complete resection. Recent advancements in targeted therapies, particularly MEK inhibitors, have introduced promising treatment options for patients with severe manifestations of NF1. This review highlights the pathophysiology of NF1 and the therapeutic role of MEK inhibitors and presents a detailed case study of a patient treated with selumetinib, a novel MEK inhibitor. While the therapeutic potential of selumetinib has been demonstrated in preclinical and clinical studies, including those involving Japanese patients, this review aims to evaluate its application in real-world clinical practice. A comprehensive discussion of the case study provides insights into the efficacy, safety, and clinical challenges associated with selumetinib treatment, offering valuable perspectives for its use in managing NF1. In tight sandstone gas reservoirs, proppant flowback severely limits stable gas production. This study uses laboratory flowback experiments and field analyses of the ShaXimiao tight sandstone in the Wenxing gas area to investigate the mechanisms controlling sand production. The experiments show that displacing fluid viscosity significantly affects the critical sand-flow velocity: with high-viscous slickwater (5 mPa·s), the critical velocity is 66% lower than with low-viscous formation water (1.15 mPa·s). The critical velocity for coated proppant is three times that of the mixed quartz sand and coated proppant. If the confining pressure is maintained, but the flow rate is further increased after the proppant flowback, a second instance of sand production can be observed. X-ray diffraction (XRD) tests were conducted for sand produced from practical wells to help find the sand production reasons. Based on experimental and field data analysis, sand production in Well X-1 primarily results from proppant detachment during rapid shut-in/open cycling operations, while in Well X-2, it originates from proppant crushing. The risk of formation sand production is low for both wells (the volumetric fraction of calcite tested from the produced sands is smaller than 0.5%). These findings highlight the importance of fluid viscosity, proppant consolidation, and pressure management in controlling sand production. Full article

Natural gas storage is an effective solution to address the energy supply–demand imbalance, and underground gas storage (UGS) is a primary method for storing natural gas. The overarching goal of this study is to monitor and analyze surface deformation at the Hutubi underground gas storage facility in Xinjiang, China, which is the largest gas storage facility in the country. This research aims to ensure the stable and efficient operation of the facility through long-term monitoring, using remote sensing data and advanced modeling techniques. The study employs the SBAS-InSAR method, leveraging Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) data from the TerraSAR and Sentinel-1 sensors to observe displacement time series from 2013 to 2024. The data is processed through wavelet transformation for denoising, followed by the application of a Gray Wolf Optimization (GWO) algorithm combined with Variational Mode Decomposition (VMD) to decompose both surface deformation and gas pressure data. The key focus is the development of a high-precision predictive model using a Gated Recurrent Unit (GRU) network, referred to as GWO-VMD-GRU, to accurately predict surface deformation. The results show periodic surface uplift and subsidence at the facility, with a notable net uplift. During the period from August 2013 to March 2015, the maximum uplift rate was 6 mm/year, while from January 2015 to December 2024, it increased to 12 mm/year. The surface deformation correlates with gas injection and extraction periods, indicating periodic variations. The accuracy of the InSAR-derived displacement data is validated through high-precision GNSS data. The GWO-VMD-GRU model demonstrates strong predictive performance with a coefficient of determination (R2) greater than 0.98 for the gas well test points. This study provides a valuable reference for the future safe operation and management of underground gas storage facilities, demonstrating significant contributions to both scientific understanding and practical applications in underground gas storage management. Tinos Island, part of the Cyclades Complex in the central Aegean Sea, represents a distinctive case of geocultural heritage where geological formations and cultural identity intersect. This study evaluates the geoeducational and geotouristic potential of Tinos’ geosites using GEOAM methodology, which assesses their scientific, educational, and conservation value. Six geosites are examined to explore their geoeducational potential, including prominent locations such as the Tafoni formations and the Exombourgo granite massif. The findings highlight the significance of these sites, while also identifying challenges related to infrastructure, stakeholder engagement, and sustainable management. By integrating geoethics into geotourism practices, Tinos can adopt a balanced approach that enhances environmental conservation alongside community-driven economic benefits. The study underscores the need for collaborative initiatives to optimize the island’s geoheritage for education and tourism, ensuring its long-term preservation. Geotourism, when responsibly implemented, has the potential to strengthen local identity while advancing sustainable tourism development. Full article

Background/Objectives: Cooling strategies are critical for optimizing athlete recovery and performance in team sports, yet practical, accessible solutions remain underexplored. This study evaluated the efficacy of a cool vest during a 15 min recovery period following 45 min of simulated soccer match play on core and skin temperature regulation. Methods: Forty-seven physically active males completed an exercise protocol replicating the physiological demands of a soccer half-match. Participants were randomized into an experimental group using a cool vest during recovery (IG, n = 24) or a control group (CG, n = 23) without cooling intervention. Results: Compared to CG, IG exhibited small but significant reductions in skin temperature (31.46 ± 0.67 °C vs. 32.40 ± 1.04 °C; ES = −0.24, 95% CI: −0.40 to −0.08; p = 0.003) and tympanic temperature (35.99 ± 0.45 °C vs. 36.54 ± 0.66 °C; ES = −0.43, 95% CI: −0.67 to −0.18; p < 0.001) 10 min post-exercise. These differences intensified to small and moderate effects at 15 min post-exercise for skin (31.07 ± 0.67 °C vs. 32.51 ± 0.91 °C; ES = −0.37, 95% CI: −0.53 to −0.21; p < 0.001) and tympanic temperatures (35.70 ± 0.42 °C vs. 36.65 ± 0.58 °C; ES = −0.71, 95% CI: −0.96 to −0.46; p < 0.001), respectively, with IG maintaining consistently lower values. No temperature changes were observed in CG. Conclusions: These findings demonstrate that a 15 min cool vest application during halftime effectively reduces core and skin temperatures, compared to passive recovery. This supports its utility as a practical, low-cost strategy for thermoregulatory management in soccer, warranting further investigation into its long-term performance benefits. Full article

Feline coronavirus (FCoV) is a major pathogen causing feline infectious peritonitis (FIP), a lethal disease in cats, necessitating accurate diagnostic methods. This study developed and compared novel primers targeting the FCoV membrane (M) gene for enhanced detection. Specific primers were designed for the M gene and their performance evaluated using reverse transcription-PCR (RT-PCR), nested RT-PCR, and reverse transcription-quantitative PCR (RT-qPCR) on 80 clinical effusion samples from cats suspected of FIP. Specificity of assays was tested against other feline viruses, with sensitivity being assessed via serial dilutions of FCoV RNA. RT-qPCR had the highest sensitivity, detecting 9.14 × 101 copies/µL, identifying 93.75% of positive samples, followed by nested RT-PCR (87.50%, 9.14 × 104 copies/µL) and RT-PCR (61.25%, 9.14 × 106 copies/µL). All assays had 100% specificity, with no cross-reactivity to other viruses. The nested RT-PCR and RT-qPCR outperformed RT-PCR significantly, with comparable diagnostic accuracy. The novel primers targeting the FCoV M gene, coupled with RT-qPCR, delivered unparalleled sensitivity and robust reliability for detecting FCoV in clinical settings. Nested RT-PCR was equally precise and amplified diagnostic confidence with its high performance. These cutting-edge assays should revolutionize FCoV detection, offering trusted tools that seamlessly integrate into veterinary practice, empowering clinicians to manage feline infectious peritonitis with unprecedented accuracy and speed. Optimizing Rooting and Growth of Salvia rosmarinus Cuttings in Soilless Systems Affected by Growth Regulators

This study investigated how propagation systems, growth regulators, and hormone formulations interactively affect the rooting and subsequent growth of rosemary (Salvia rosmarinus Spenn) cuttings. A three factorial (3 × 2 × 7) experiment was conducted under a fully controlled greenhouse environment, incorporating three soilless propagation systems (mist, float, aeroponics), two rooting hormone formulations (powder and gel-based IBA), and two growth regulators (paclobutrazol and daminozide) at three concentrations each. Significant differences (p < 0.001) were found in shoot height, root length, and number of lateral roots. The float system combined with powder hormone and no retardants achieved the highest shoot height (mean = 16.7 cm), while aeroponics with powder hormone and daminozide 1000 ppm promoted the greatest root branching (mean = 12.2 lateral roots per cutting). Root length was maximized (mean = 15.9 cm) under float systems with daminozide 1000 ppm. High doses of both growth regulators negatively affected all parameters across systems. Post-transplantation monitoring confirmed that cuttings from float and mist systems treated with powder hormone and low or no growth retardants exhibited superior establishment and net growth over 60 days. These findings demonstrate the critical importance of pairing hormone type, regulator concentration, and propagation system, providing actionable protocols for nursery managers aiming to enhance Salvia rosmarinus propagation in commercial practice. The yak is a vital livestock resource on the Qinghai–Tibet Plateau, renowned for its strong disease resistance and high-quality meat. However, various diseases pose significant threats to its health and lead to substantial economic losses. Current feeding management practices, along with available drugs and vaccines, have demonstrated limited effectiveness in preventing and controlling infectious diseases. Additionally, challenges such as drug resistance and the safety of animal products persist. Therefore, enhancing the disease-resistant breeding capacity of yaks is crucial. In this study, we examined 192 yaks by measuring the concentrations of 10 immune indicators in serum by using the ELISA method and conducting whole-genome resequencing, which identified 19,182,942 SNP loci. Through genome-wide association analysis, we detected 323 significant SNPs located near or within 125 candidate genes, most of which are associated with disease and significantly enriched in the TGF-β signaling pathway. Overall, our study identified a series of novel variants and candidate genes associated with disease resistance traits in yaks, providing important information for the molecular breeding of disease resistance in yaks. These results not only contribute to a deeper understanding of the function of disease resistance genes in yaks but also hold great potential for accelerating precision disease resistance breeding in yaks. This study discusses the role of organizational pro-environmental behavior in driving sustainable development. Studies of green practices highlight their capacity to achieve ecological goals while delivering economic sustainability with business strategies for sustainable businesses and advancing environmental sustainability law. It also considers how the development of artificial intelligence, resource management, big data analysis, blockchain, and the Internet of Things enables companies to maximize supply efficiency and address evolving environmental regulations and sustainable decision-making. Through digital technology, businesses can facilitate supply chain transparency, adopt circular economy practices, and produce in an equitable and environmentally friendly manner. Additionally, intelligent business management practices, such as effective decision-making and sustainability reporting, enhance compliance with authorities while ensuring long-term profitability from a legal perspective. Integrating business innovation and digital technology within legal entities enhances economic efficiency, reduces operational costs, improves environmental sustainability, reduces paper usage, and lowers the carbon footprint, creating a double-benefit model of long-term resilience. To address this knowledge gap, we conducted a cross-sectional observational study involving 80 psychiatrists from Spain to assess real-world clinical attitudes toward duloxetine. Methods: Participants completed a 20-item multiple-choice questionnaire that examined familiarity, perceived efficacy in multiple conditions (MDD, GAD, neuropathic pain, somatization, and quality of life), and perspectives on tolerability, safety, adherence, and overall satisfaction. Results: Survey results indicated that a large majority of psychiatrists frequently prescribe duloxetine, particularly for patients with MDD and comorbid chronic pain. Notably, 94% rated it as either “more effective” or “much more effective” for diabetic peripheral neuropathic pain. Psychiatrists reported a high perceived efficacy of duloxetine: 94% rated it as “more effective” or “much more effective” for diabetic peripheral neuropathy, and 93% gave similarly positive ratings for general neuropathic pain. For somatization, 70% found it “effective” or “very effective”, and 83% observed improvements in quality of life for many of their patients. Psychiatrists generally reported favorable perceptions of duloxetine’s tolerability profile: 97.5% rated it as the antidepressant associated with the least weight gain, and 82.5% perceived fewer sexual side effects compared to other options. Sedation and gastrointestinal side effects were generally considered mild or less severe. In terms of treatment adherence, 69% rated it as “better” or “much better” than other antidepressants, and 80% found its combination with other antidepressants to be “favorable” or “very favorable”. Overall satisfaction was high, with 99% of psychiatrists reporting being either “satisfied” or “very satisfied” with its use. The side effect profile was generally viewed as manageable, with low perceived rates of weight gain, sedation, and sexual dysfunction. Furthermore, 96% of respondents expressed a willingness to recommend duloxetine to their colleagues. Conclusions: Psychiatrists reported highly favorable attitudes toward duloxetine, viewing it as a flexible treatment option in routine care. However, these findings reflect clinicians’ subjective perceptions rather than objective clinical outcomes and should be interpreted accordingly. Full article

Background/Objectives: Proton therapy delivers highly conformal doses to the target area without producing an exit dose, minimizing cumulative doses to healthy liver tissue. This study aims to evaluate current practices, challenges, and variations in the implementation of proton stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) and hypofractionated therapy for liver malignancies, with the goal of providing a technical assessment to promote broader adoption and support future clinical trials. Methods and Materials: An extensive survey was conducted by NRG Oncology across North American proton treatment centers to assess the current practices of proton liver SBRT and hypofractionated therapy. The survey focused on key aspects, including patient selection, prescription and normal tissue constraints, simulation and motion management, treatment planning, quality assurance (QA), treatment delivery, and the use of image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT). Results: This survey captures the current practice patterns and status of proton SBRT and hypofractionated therapy in liver cancer treatment.  Proton therapy is increasingly preferred for treating inoperable liver malignancies due to its ability to minimize healthy tissue exposure. However, the precision required for proton therapy presents challenges, particularly in managing uncertainties and target motion during high-dose fractions and short treatment courses. Survey findings revealed significant variability in clinical practices across centers, highlighting differences in motion management, dose fractionation schedules, and QA protocols. Conclusion: Proton SBRT and hypofractionated therapy offer significant potential for treating liver malignancies. A comprehensive approach involving precise patient selection, treatment planning, and QA is essential for ensuring safety and effectiveness. This survey provides valuable insights into current practices and challenges, offering a foundation for technical recommendations to optimize the use of proton therapy and guide future clinical trials. The energy sector uses artificial intelligence (AI) as a crucial instrument to achieve environmental sustainability targets by improving resource efficiency and decreasing emissions while minimizing waste production. This paper establishes an industry-specific executive playbook that guides energy sector leaders by implementing AI technologies for sustainability management with approaches suitable for industrial needs. The playbook provides an industry-specific framework along with strategies and AI-based solutions to help organizations overcome their sustainability challenges. Predictive analytics combined with smart grid management implemented through AI applications produced 15% less energy waste and reduced carbon emissions by 20% according to industry pilot project data. AI has proven its transformative capabilities by optimizing energy consumption while detecting inefficiencies to create both operational improvements and cost savings. The real-time monitoring capabilities of AI systems help companies meet strict environmental regulations and international climate goals by optimizing resource use and waste reduction, supporting circular economy practices for sustainable operations and enduring profitability. This study explores the relationship between institutional shareholders and climate-related disclosure (CRD) and how sustainability committees influence this relationship among publicly listed Malaysian firms. For the analysis, 990 firm-year observations were studied from 198 highly polluting firms from 2021 to 2024. A strong CRD index was designed using the recognized climate reporting frameworks and well-grounded literature to assess the level of climate-related disclosure. Fixed-effects and hierarchical panel regression models show that CRD increases when institutional investor ownership increases, meaning firms with more institutional investors disclose more information on climate-related topics. In addition, a sustainability committee at the board level greatly improves this relationship by highlighting the positive impact of strong internal governance. As a result, such committees establish climate management and improve communication with investors, making the firm’s actions more transparent. The findings of this study are consistent with agency and legitimacy theories because institutional investors assist in monitoring firms’ environmental performance, and sustainability committees help the company maintain these standards internally. Further, this study helps grow the understanding of corporate governance (CG) and sustainability by pointing out that the presence of institutional owners and sustainability committees can promote openness about climate matters. Accordingly, these findings can guide policymakers, investors, and business leaders in boosting responsible environmental reporting and sustainable business practices in developing countries.
