Introduction: With the emergence of the expert patient and the expansion of health literacy, the importance of planning and building health technologies aimed at teaching and training health professionals, especially nurses, due to their activities with patients in Primary Health Care, with the aim of meeting the real and constant demands of the expert patient, is evident. Methods: Methodological study with a quantitative approach. The course was constructed based on a scope review, scientific reference, and observational visits during the months of September 2021 and August 2022. For validation, an organized electronic form was used with general information about the research and items of the course constructed for later evaluation by the judges with the three-point Likert scale and with the application of the Delphi Technique between the months of September and October 2022; for the agreement of the judges, the Content Validation Coefficient > 0.8 was considered. Results: Based on the content selected in the scope review, the reference contribution, and the observational visits, the course was constructed. Nine judges participated in the validation stage in Delphi I with a total Content Validation Coefficient above 0.90 and with some suggestions for modifications and improvements pointed out by them. In Delphi II, six judges evaluated the course, resulting in a total Content Validation Coefficient of 0.99. Conclusions: The course developed was considered valid to support the training of Primary Health Care nurses in the formation of the expert patient, with a view to promoting patient autonomy in self-care management, optimizing Primary Health Care, and reducing unnecessary hospital admissions. In the Swedish compulsory school, system multilingual students’ reading and writing development is supported, among other measures and practices, by heritage language (HL) teachers. To effectively support multilingual students, whether they require special educational assistance or not, collaboration between heritage language teachers and special education needs (SEN) teachers is essential. Thus, a key consideration is how HL and SEN teachers work together to promote reading and writing skills in multilingual children. We present two sub-studies: Study 1, a questionnaire answered by 33 HL teachers, and Study 2, consisting of in-depth interviews with a different group of 13 HL teachers. Both sub-studies aim to increase our understanding of HL teachers’ experiences of collaborative practices with SEN teachers for promoting reading and writing development among multilingual students with or without the need of special educational support. The findings reveal that HL teachers, though well qualified and committed, are often excluded from collaborative planning with SEN teachers. This study highlights the systemic barriers and opportunities for improving literacy support through interprofessional collaboration. Full article

This study analyses the effectiveness of a contextualized teaching and learning sequence (TLS) based on forensic entomology (FE) to disprove the idea of spontaneous generation (SG) among students enrolled in the Higher Vocational Education and Training (VET) Cycle in Pathological Anatomy and Cytodiagnosis. Through an inquiry- and project-based learning approach, students replicate a version of Francesco Redi’s historical experiments, enabling them to engage with core scientific concepts such as the metamorphic cycle of insects and the role of entomology in forensic science. The research adopts a semiquantitative and exploratory design. It investigates: (1) whether students’ prior knowledge about FE and related biological processes is sufficient to refute SG; (2) to what extent this knowledge is influenced by their previous academic background and gender; and (3) whether a contextualized TLS can significantly enhance their conceptual understanding. The results reveal that most students begin with limited initial knowledge of FE and multiple misconceptions related to SG, irrespective of their previous study. Gender differences were observed at baseline, with women showing lower prior knowledge, but these differences disappeared after the intervention. The post-intervention data demonstrate a significant improvement in student’s ability to reject SG and explain biological processes coherently. The study highlights the importance of integrating entomology into health-related VET programs, both as a means to promote scientific literacy and correct misconceptions and as a pedagogical tool to foster critical thinking. It also highlights the potential and historically grounded methodologies to equalize learning outcomes and strengthen the scientific preparation of future healthcare professionals. Full article

Generative AI tools such as ChatGPT are reshaping educational practice, yet first-year teacher-education students often lack the prompt-engineering skills and confidence required to use them responsibly. This pilot study examined whether a concise three-session clinic on prompt engineering could simultaneously boost AI literacy and reduce technology anxiety in prospective teachers. Forty-five freshmen in a Peruvian teacher-education program completed validated Spanish versions of a 12-item AI-literacy scale and a 12-item technology-anxiety scale one week before and after the intervention; normality-checked pre–post differences were analysed with paired-samples t-tests, Cohen’s d, and Pearson correlations. AI literacy rose by 0.70 ± 0.46 points (t (44) = −6.10, p < 0.001, d = 0.91), while technology anxiety fell by 0.58 ± 0.52 points (t (44) = −3.82, p = 0.001, d = 0.56); individual gains were inversely correlated (r = −0.46, p = 0.002). These findings suggest that integrating micro-level prompt-engineering clinics in the first semester can help future teachers engage critically and comfortably with generative AI and guide curriculum designers in updating teacher-training programs. Digital competence refers to the integration of digital technology in teaching and learning, as outlined in the national curriculum of Estonia for upper secondary schools. This study presents original research findings on Estonian science teachers’ use of digital tools and materials, their digital competence, and the main benefits and challenges they face. The findings emphasize the need for continued professional development, accessible digital resources, and equitable digital infrastructure to maintain Estonia’s leadership in digital science education. A survey of 58 secondary school science teachers revealed that computers (desktops, laptops, and tablets) are the primary digital tools used. The article explores digital literacy advancements in secondary science education, research methodologies used to assess digital tool usage, and key findings from recent studies. However, challenges such as digital equity, technological barriers, and digital fatigue persist. Additionally, discrepancies were found in teachers’ responses regarding digital tool effectiveness, implementation strategies, and perceived barriers. While some teachers reported a successful integration and improved student outcomes, others highlighted difficulties in aligning digital resources with curriculum requirements and pedagogical approaches. Osteoarthritis (OA) remains a major contributor to pain and disability; however, the current management is largely reactive, focusing on symptoms rather than preventing irreversible cartilage loss. This review first examines the mechanistic foundations for pharmacological chondroprotection—illustrating how conventional agents, such as glucosamine sulfate and chondroitin sulfate, can potentially restore extracellular matrix (ECM) components, may attenuate catabolic enzyme activity, and might enhance joint lubrication—and explores the delivery challenges posed by avascular cartilage and synovial diffusion barriers. Subsequently, a practical “What–How–When” framework is introduced to guide community pharmacists in risk screening, DMOAD selection, chronotherapeutic dosing, safety monitoring, and lifestyle integration, as exemplified by the CHONDROMOVING infographic brochure designed for diverse health literacy levels. Building on these strategies, the P4–4P Chondroprotection Framework is proposed, integrating predictive risk profiling (physicians), preventive pharmacokinetic and chronotherapy optimization (pharmacists), personalized biomechanical interventions (physiotherapists), and participatory self-management (patients) into a unified, feedback-driven OA care model. To translate this framework into routine practice, I recommend the development of DMOAD-specific clinical guidelines, incorporation of chondroprotective chronotherapy and interprofessional collaboration into health-professional curricula, and establishment of multidisciplinary OA management pathways—supported by appropriate reimbursement structures, to support preventive, team-based management, and prioritization of large-scale randomized trials and real-world evidence studies to validate the long-term structural, functional, and quality of life benefits of synchronized DMOAD and exercise-timed interventions. This comprehensive, precision-driven paradigm aims to shift OA care from reactive palliation to true disease modification, preserving cartilage integrity and improving the quality of life for millions worldwide. In an era where digitalization shapes economic and social landscapes, the intersection of digital skills, ethics, and integrity plays a crucial role in understanding the vulnerability of youth classified as NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training). This study explores how risky internet use and digital skill gaps contribute to socio-economic exclusion, integrating a multivariate and spatial approach to assess regional disparities in Europe. This study adopts a systems thinking perspective to explore digital exclusion as an emergent outcome of multiple interrelated subsystems. The research employs logistic regression, Principal Component Analysis (PCA) with Promax rotation, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to examine the impact of digital behaviors on NEET status. Using Eurostat data aggregated at the country level for the period (2000–2023) across 28 European countries, this study evaluates 24 digital indicators covering social media usage, instant messaging, daily internet access, data protection awareness, and digital literacy levels. The findings reveal that low digital skills significantly increase the likelihood of being NEET, while excessive social media and internet use show mixed effects depending on socio-economic context. A strong negative correlation between digital security practices and NEET status suggests that youths with a higher awareness of online risks are less prone to socio-economic exclusion. The GIS analysis highlights regional disparities, where countries with limited digital access and lower literacy levels exhibit higher NEET rates. Digital exclusion is not merely a technological issue but a multidimensional socio-economic challenge. To reduce the NEET rate, policies must focus on enhancing digital skills, fostering online security awareness, and addressing regional disparities. Integrating GIS methods allows for the identification of territorial clusters with heightened digital vulnerabilities, guiding targeted interventions for improving youth employability in the digital economy. Background/Objectives: Perceived physical literacy (PPL) appears to be a relevant strategy for combating the prevalent sedentary lifestyle among young people. Therefore, understanding their PPL levels will facilitate the implementation of appropriate strategies for this purpose. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze the differences in PPL considering the sex dimension (i.e., males and females) and the age-group (i.e., early compulsory secondary education, late compulsory secondary education and baccalaureate). Methods: Seven-hundred-and-four Spanish students (age = 14.3 ± 1.6 years old) belonging to three different Spanish secondary schools voluntarily participated in this study. To assess adolescents’ perceptions of their physical literacy, the Spanish Adolescents’ Perceived Physical Literacy Assessment (S-PPLI) was used. This instrument consists of nine items equally distributed across three categories: self-perception and self-confidence, self-expression and communication with others, and knowledge and understanding. Results: Males obtained higher scores in all the indicators of PPL, except for items 1, 8 and 9, compared to their female counterparts (p < 0.05), while the oldest age-group reported higher scores in the indicators of knowledge and understanding category compared to students in the early years of compulsory secondary education (p < 0.01). Conclusions: Programs based on increasing the PPL should be implemented specifically for females. Also, similar programs must be included into scholar curriculums from the beginning of secondary education, with the aim of promoting improvements in the health and physical condition of Spanish adolescents. Health literacy improves informal caregivers’ knowledge and ability to provide care. The aim of this study is to analyze the impact of a group-based intervention on the health literacy of informal caregivers of children with special health needs (SHNs). The intervention focuses on movement, hydrotherapy, walking, and relaxation, with three evaluation stages. Participants included 34 informal caregivers of children with SHNs, recruited at a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Service. We collected sociodemographic data of the participants and measured their health literacy through the short-form version of the European Health Literacy Survey Questionnaire (HLS-EU-Q16). Around 70% of the participants were female, with a mean age of 41.06 ± 4.98 years, and nearly 85% were married or in a de facto union. About 26% were unemployed, and more than 65% had completed secondary education or higher. The mean scores of the HLS-EU-Q16 were statistically significantly higher throughout the intervention, with differences over the evaluation stages [F(2,56) = 75.55; p < 0.05]. A structured, dynamic, and group-based intervention plan showed improvements in the health literacy of the participants, with an increase in the percentage of participants with sufficient and excellent levels of health literacy at the end of the intervention. As the global energy transition accelerates, the integration of solar power and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies offers new pathways for sustainable local development. This study examines four Serbian municipalities—Šabac, Sombor, Pirot, and Čačak—to assess how AI-enabled solar power systems can enhance energy resilience, reduce emissions, and support community-level sustainability goals. Using a mixed-method approach combining spatial analysis, predictive modeling, and stakeholder interviews, this research study evaluates the performance and institutional readiness of local governments in terms of implementing intelligent solar infrastructure. Key AI applications included solar potential mapping, demand-side management, and predictive maintenance of photovoltaic (PV) systems. Quantitative results show an improvement >60% in forecasting accuracy, a 64% reduction in system downtime, and a 9.7% increase in energy cost savings. These technical gains were accompanied by positive trends in SDG-aligned indicators, such as improved electricity access and local job creation in the green economy. Despite challenges related to data infrastructure, regulatory gaps, and limited AI literacy, this study finds that institutional coordination and leadership commitment are decisive for successful implementation. The proposed AI–Solar Integration for Local Sustainability (AISILS) framework offers a replicable model for emerging economies. Policy recommendations include investing in foundational digital infrastructure, promoting low-code AI platforms, and aligning AI–solar projects with SDG targets to attract EU and national funding. This study contributes new empirical evidence on the digital–renewable energy nexus in Southeast Europe and underscores the strategic role of AI in accelerating inclusive, data-driven energy transitions at the municipal level. Despite the importance of financial literacy, particularly in sustaining and improving rural agriculture, it is documented in the literature that little is known about financial literacy, particularly in rural communities in developing countries. Responding to the calls for research to address this gap, the current study investigates how financial literacy relates to access to funding, innovative service adoption, and sustainable food production among agricultural food producers in Nigeria’s rural communities. A probability sampling technique was used to draw 460 samples from registered rural farmers in the Central Bank of Nigeria’s Anchored Borrower’s Programme for food production in Edo State, Nigeria. Quantitative data were collected using a structured questionnaire. The hypotheses were tested using regression analysis, while descriptive statistics were deployed to analyse the demographic data of the respondents. The outcomes suggest that financial literacy has significant links with access to funding, innovative service adoption and sustainable food production among agricultural food producers in Nigerian rural communities. Based on the outcomes, it is concluded that financial literacy significantly influences sustainable food production in Nigerian rural communities. As such, there is a need for the Nigerian government and financial authorities to embark on a financial literacy drive to increase financial literacy, particularly in light of ever-evolving disruptive financial technologies. Sustainability has emerged as a prominent concern globally, extending its influence into various domains, including education. It is recognized as of utmost importance to address global environmental challenges. However, there is a critical gap in the perception of innovative teaching strategies, i.e., interdisciplinary collaboration, experiential learning, and targeted approaches, to improve sustainability literacy and its applications. This review analyzes existing environmental and sustainability education frameworks and approaches to determine desired learning outcomes and challenges associated with sustainability education. Also, it explores and identifies concepts, theories, and assumptions found within the literature review, promoting sustainability integration within engineering education. The review was conducted to facilitate the development and improvement of sustainability education within the Architectural Engineering discipline, a field known for emphasizing educational innovation and technical excellence. By synthesizing existing ideas related to sustainability and sustainable development, this work aims to guide curriculum designers and educators in fostering sustainability competencies among engineering students within the built environment. Background and Objectives: Long-acting cabotegravir and rilpivirine (LA-CAB/RPV) offers an alternative to daily oral antiretroviral therapy (ART) for people living with HIV (PLWH). Although LA-CAB/RPV has been approved in Turkey, the country remains in the pre-rollout period, and national data on patient perspectives are lacking. This is the first nationwide study from Turkey, a setting of increasing HIV incidence, assessing PLWH perspectives on switching to LA-CAB/RPV and the influence of motivational factors on treatment preferences. Materials and Methods: A prospective, multicenter, cross-sectional study was conducted across 11 HIV treatment centers representing all regions of Turkey. Virologically suppressed PLWH meeting current eligibility criteria for LA-CAB/RPV were included. Treatment preferences (switch to LA-CAB/RPV or remain on oral ART) and five anticipated motivational domains, namely perceived efficacy, safety, convenience, privacy, and cost, were systematically assessed through structured, face-to-face interviews. Results: Among 200 eligible participants, 86% (n = 172) preferred switching to LA-CAB/RPV. In all subgroups, LA-CAB/RPV was preferred over oral ART, except for those with no formal literacy. Prior awareness of LA-CAB/RPV was significantly associated with the switching preference (p < 0.001), with healthcare providers being the most common source of information, at 45.5% (n = 172) (p < 0.001). Residential proximity to the healthcare center (p = 0.018) and all motivational factors significantly influenced the preference (p < 0.05). Notably, when participants who initially chose to remain on oral ART were asked whether they would reconsider switching if injections were administered every six months, overall preference for long-acting therapy increased from 86% to 98%. Conclusions: High clinical eligibility and strong acceptability for LA-CAB/RPV were observed among Turkish PLWH. Our findings demonstrate that structured motivational factors significantly influence the treatment preference. Addressing these patient-centered factors and logistical barriers may support the successful integration of long-acting therapies into routine HIV care. Future longer-interval agents may improve patient-centered acceptability. Full article

In modern medical education, a robust understanding of statistics is essential for fostering critical thinking, informed clinical decision-making, and effective communication. This paper explores the synergistic value of early and continued statistical education for medical students and residents, particularly in relation to the expanding field of sports supplementation and its impact on athletic performance. Early exposure to statistical principles enhances students’ ability to interpret clinical research, avoid cognitive biases, and engage in evidence-based practice. Continued statistical learning throughout residency further refines these competencies, enabling more sophisticated analysis and application of emerging data. The paper also addresses key challenges in integrating statistics into medical curricula—such as limited curricular space, student disengagement, and resource constraints—and proposes solutions including interactive learning, case-based teaching, and the use of public datasets. A unique emphasis is placed on connecting statistical literacy to the interpretation of research in sports science, particularly regarding the efficacy, safety, and ethical considerations of sports supplements. By linking statistical education to a dynamic and relatable domain like sports performance, educators can not only enrich learning outcomes but also foster lasting interest and competence in quantitative reasoning. This integrated approach holds promise for producing more analytically proficient and clinically capable physicians. Full article

Media organizations are experiencing ongoing transformation, increasingly driven by the advancement of AI technologies. This development has begun to link journalists with generative systems and synthetic technologies. Although newsrooms worldwide are exploring AI adoption to improve information sourcing, news production, and distribution, a gap exists between resource-rich organizations and those with limited means. Since ChatGPT 3.5 was released on 30 November 2022, Greek media and journalists have gained the ability to use and explore AI technology. In this study, we examine the use of AI in Greek newsrooms, as well as journalists’ reflections and concerns. Through qualitative analysis, our findings indicate that the adoption and integration of these tools in Greek newsrooms is marked by the lack of formal institutional policies, leading to a predominantly self-directed and individualized use of these technologies by journalists. Greek journalists engage with AI tools both professionally and personally, often without organizational guidance or formal training. This issue may compromise the quality of journalism due to the absence of established guidelines. Consequently, individuals may produce content that is inconsistent with the media outlet’s identity or that disseminates misinformation. Age, gender, and newsroom roles do not constitute limiting factors for this “experimentation”, as survey participants showed familiarity with this technology. In addition, in some cases, the disadvantages of specific tools regarding qualitative results in Greek are inhibiting factors for further exploration and use. All these points to the need for immediate training, literacy, and ethical frameworks. Full article
