Despite growing interest in the sexuality and gender identity of people with disabilities (PWD), this topic remains underexplored in both research and institutional policies, owing to prevailing views that ignore PWD sexual life. This contributes to the invisibility of individuals who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, and trans (LGBT) and to inadequate attention to the specific needs of LGBT people with disabilities (LGBT PWD). Background/Objectives: Given the lack of Portuguese studies that examine the intersection of LGBT and disability identities, this study aimed to understand professionals’ attitudes and practices toward PWD regarding sexuality and LGBT belonging. Methods: We conducted qualitative research using semi-structured interviews with eleven professionals (two psychologists, three occupational therapists, and six personal assistants). We analyzed the data using reflexive thematic analysis. Results: Key findings highlight professionals’ limited knowledge, prevailing cis-heteronormative attitudes, and emerging affirmative practices. Conclusions: Training and institutional changes are needed to make services more inclusive and responsive to the needs of LGBT PWD. Full article

Workplace harassment of transgender employees remains pervasive and understudied. In this narrative review of 63 studies over the past 25 years, we summarize the literature on transgender workplace harassment. We focus on its prevalence and forms. Individual, organizational and cultural factors contribute to its occurrence; psychological and occupational outcomes; and strategies to reduce or prevent harassment. We find that harassment often extends beyond traditional definitions; includes misgendering, deadnaming, and the questioning or outright denial of one’s gender identity; and is particularly pervasive in masculinity contest cultures. These experiences are associated with both negative well-being of transgender employees and less effectiveness of the organizations that employ them, though more causal evidence is needed. We also highlight critical conceptual and methodological gaps to guide future research. Much of the existing research on LGBTQ+ employees in the workplace has focused primarily on sexual minorities, leaving the unique experiences of gender minorities invisible. Further, an intersectional lens is needed, as harassment experiences of trans women, trans men, and nonbinary people may differ in significant ways. Finally, we identify strategies to improve workplace climate including both top-down formal policy and bottom-up interpersonal behaviors. Full article

Background: Immigrant and racialized families raising children on the autism spectrum in Canada navigate intersecting inequities shaped by racism, language barriers, immigration status, and fragmented health and education systems. Yet their perspectives remain underrepresented in autism and health policy research. Methods: Guided by the socioecological and critical social science lens, this community-based participatory study employed a PhotoVoice approach in partnership with SMILE Canada–Support Services. Ten immigrant and/or racialized family caregivers from the Greater Toronto area participated in four in-person sessions involving ethical training, guided photo-taking, group-based reflections, and collaborative theme refinement. The data included 38 participant-generated photographs, narratives, and an audio-recorded final group discussion. Results: Seven interrelated themes were identified: (1) family support and child needs; (2) physical and emotional burden on caregivers; (3) school support or its missingness; (4) stigma and discrimination; (5) overall journey with barriers; (6) transitions and uncertainty; and (7) two sides of a coin: isolation and strength, loneliness and hope. Caregivers highlighted extensive invisible labor, exclusionary schooling, financial and systemic barriers, and cumulative stress. Simultaneously, they articulated resilience, mutual support, and a strong sense of collective responsibility. The PhotoVoice process itself was experienced as validating, unifying, and empowering, with participants expressing readiness to disseminate findings through exhibitions, school boards, universities, and policy-engagement initiatives. Conclusions: Caregiving among immigrant and racialized families is both a profound act of love and a site of structural injustice. Centering on caregivers as co-researchers and knowledge holders reveals urgent needs for equity-oriented autism policies and culturally responsive, accessible support systems in Canada. Full article

Inclusive education is at the forefront of transnational policy agendas. Yet, normative, deficit-oriented disability discourses and institutional gaps continue to shape how inclusion is enacted in schools, often displacing extensive and unacknowledged labour onto families, especially mothers. Drawing on feminist theories of invisible work, this article critically examines the everyday labour performed by mothers of disabled children as they navigate inclusive education systems in Alberta, Canada. Situated within a broader collective case study, this analysis asks: What forms of invisible work do mothers undertake in pursuit of inclusion within education systems labelled as inclusive? Semi-structured interviews were conducted with nine mothers of disabled children. Reflexive thematic analysis illuminated four intersecting dimensions of invisible work: (1) working within the system, (2) working to fit the system, (3) crafting system workarounds, and (4) working above and beyond the system. These forms of work reveal how inclusive education systems rely on mothers to bridge the gap between policy rhetoric and lived experiences. Findings illuminate how mothers’ invisible work simultaneously sustains, negotiates, and resists systemic ableism, highlighting the need to recognize and redistribute this work and reimagine inclusion as a shared structural responsibility rather than an individual, maternal pursuit. (1) Background: Female homelessness is one of the most invisible forms of social exclusion, aggravated by structural and gender factors and by experiences of violence. This research analyzes the multifaceted barriers hindering women experiencing homelessness from accessing healthcare services, from the perspective of social intervention professionals. (2) Methods: A qualitative study was conducted using three focus groups with 21 professionals from Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Lleida and Barcelona. An interpretative phenomenological approach guided data collection and analysis, and transcripts were examined through thematic analysis to identify common patterns in professionals’ meaning-making regarding healthcare barriers. (3) Results: Gender-based violence cuts across the life trajectories of most women experiencing homelessness, hindering their access to healthcare services. Barriers identified include lack of documentation, stigma and discriminatory treatment, limited access to specialized services, the absence of a gender perspective in healthcare, and a lack of coordination between social and health services. In addition, the study highlights the lack of preventive programs and health education tailored to this population. (4) Conclusions: It is essential to adopt a comprehensive, intersectional and gender-sensitive approach to safeguard the right to health for these women. Measures such as training for healthcare personnel, simplifying bureaucratic procedures, creating specialized resources, and improving inter-institutional coordination are proposed. Full article

This review explores the intersection of gender, geography, and sustainability by examining the role of women in the blue economy across Europe’s Outermost Regions (ORs). Despite growing recognition of the blue economy’s role in sustainable development, there is limited understanding of how women participate in these sectors at the geographic periphery of the European Union. Using publicly available data from Eurostat, INSEE, ISTAC, and other national portals, we analyze employment patterns through a gender lens, supported by qualitative insights from case studies in regions such as the Azores, Réunion, and Guadeloupe. Due to the scarcity of disaggregated blue economy data, general labor force participation is used as a proxy, highlighting both opportunities and visibility gaps. Theoretically grounded in feminist political ecology and intersectionality, the review identifies key barriers, including data invisibility, occupational segregation, and structural inequalities, as well as resilience enablers such as women-led enterprises and policy interventions. We conclude with targeted recommendations for research, policy, and practice to support inclusive blue economies in ORs, emphasizing the need for better data systems and gender-sensitive coastal development strategies. This article examines the persistent legal invisibility of the Kashmiri Pandits within international frameworks on indigenous rights and internal displacement. Despite meeting definitional criteria under the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) and the Guiding Principles on Internal Displacement, the community remains unrecognised as either indigenous or internally displaced. Drawing on Third World Approaches to International Law (TWAIL), constructivist norm diffusion and decolonial intersectional critique, this article argues that this exclusion arises not from normative ambiguity but from geopolitical selectivity and epistemic suppression. Through doctrinal analysis of India’s treaty commitments, including its accession to the Genocide Convention (1959) and its interpretative reservation to Article 1 of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR) and International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) (1979), this study reveals how recognition is constrained by state narratives of sovereignty and secularism. Supported by evidence from the NHRC inquiry, IDMC displacement data, and comparative experiences such as Native American recognition this paper demonstrates that categories of protection in international law are applied unevenly, depending on political compatibility rather than legal principle. It calls for renewed engagement with epistemic justice and narrative accountability in rethinking indigeneity and displacement in postcolonial contexts. Full article

GNSS-based InBSAR can be used for 3D deformation monitoring due to its remote sensing capability, simultaneous use of multiple transmitters of opportunity, and high-accuracy potential. Mature GB-SAR and D-GNSS measurements can be used for comprehensive accuracy assessment, which has become a prominent focus in recent research. However, inter-system accuracy has not been fully assessed due to DEM errors, resolution cell variance, and limitations in accuracy mapping. This paper proposes an accuracy assessment algorithm for GNSS-based InBSAR. First, the global DEM error is accurately estimated by associating multi-angle images to correct the positions of inter-system PSs. Second, the intersection of resolution cells is introduced to address inter-system resolution cell variance and obtain inter-system coregistered PSs. Third, a mathematical operator model is developed to map different deformation directions for inter-system accuracy assessment. Raw data verify the validity of the proposed algorithm and model. In the first experimental scene with continuous deformation, the system achieves an LOS accuracy of 3.1 mm compared with GB-SAR. In the second experimental scene with invisible deformation, it achieves 3D accuracies of 2.2, 2.5, and 4.3 mm using D-GNSS as the reference and an LOS accuracy of 2.6 mm using GB-SAR as the reference. The results show that the method provides an effective solution for inter-system accuracy assessment. Full article

This scoping review examines how workplace language proficiency and corporate language policies function as dimensions of human capital, shaping employee mobility and organisational outcomes in multilingual contexts. Drawing on 12 empirical studies (2010–2025), supplemented by one influential review work used for context, the review integrates two analytical lenses: (1) language ceilings and walls, which capture invisible barriers to vertical and horizontal mobility, and (2) the Language Needs Analysis (LANA) framework, which categorises language demands at the individual, organisational, and operational levels. Findings indicate that language proficiency and inclusive language policies act as strategic resources that enhance employability, cross-border collaboration, and knowledge transfer. Conversely, rigid monolingual policies often reproduce inequalities and limit career progression. The review highlights the role of language-sensitive HRM in developing sustainable talent pipelines, advancing diversity and inclusion, and strengthening workforce resilience. Methodologically, this study applies PRISMA-ScR guidelines to ensure transparency and rigour, while offering a framework for future research at the intersection of human capital theory, language policy, and global HRM. By reframing communicative competence as career capital, the review underscores the need to integrate language training and policy design into broader human capital development strategies. The theological rendering of economics in the Bahá’í Faith—particularly from ‘Abdu’l-Bahá—advocated progressive taxation, a strong welfare state, the abolition of trusts, and the redistribution of wealth. These orientations directly diverge from “neoliberal” economic theory, especially as articulated by Frederick Hayek: concerns that social justice exacerbates poverty and claims that progressive taxation is “discrimination.” Despite these seemingly antithetical orientations, there has been a slow and tentative, if not uneasy, meeting of Bahá’í and neoliberal ideals in global organizations and scholarship. Through a comparative analysis of the writings of both ‘Abdu’l-Bahá and Friedrich Hayek, I first illuminate the fundamental disagreements on economy and society between Bahá’í theology and neoliberalism. Second, I cover recent scholarship on the moralization of markets and the sacralization of financial actors in order to contextualize the historical and contemporary unions of theology and economy. Third, I outline how ‘Abdu’l-Bahá’s theological vision and Hayek’s neoliberal theories accrete around four mutual worldviews, which can tempt hermeneutic deemphases of the fundamental divergences in Bahá’í and neoliberal logics: (1) the duality of human nature, (2) the limits of materialist reason, (3) the apotheosis of the market and self-love, and (4) sacrificial submission to transcendent authority. Despite growing global concern, the gender pay gap (GPG) within China’s financial sector remains underexplored through systematic, data-driven approaches. This study presents one of the few, if not the only, systematic literature review (SLR) and bibliometric analyses focused on the GPG in this context, aiming to map the intellectual landscape, thematic evolution, and policy relevance of the field. Peer-reviewed English-language articles published between 1975 and 2025 were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection, enabling international benchmarking and citation mapping. A three-tiered screening protocol narrowed 209 initial records to 64 eligible studies. Bibliometric tools, including VOSviewer and R Bibliometrix, were applied to visualize co-authorship and co-citation networks. The analysis revealed three dominant research clusters—salary transparency, organizational barriers, and leadership gaps—while identifying emerging intersections with FinTech, ESG, and intersectionality frameworks. Despite these trends, the findings indicate limited citation influence, thematic fragmentation, and weak scholarly integration. While the exclusion of Chinese-language literature is a limitation, it is justified for comparative consistency. Overall, this study demonstrates how combining bibliometrics with policy analysis uncovers underexplored “invisible metrics” that sustain gender disparities. It provides a foundational evidence base for future academic inquiry and actionable reforms aligned with SDG 5 and ESG mandates. Full article

This article explores how working conditions and professional well-being intersect in day-care settings, shaping early childhood educators’ professional identities, especially at the start of their careers. Based on a qualitative and interpretative study involving a focus group with seven educators and thirty interviews across Portugal, the findings reveal a profession marked by overload, time pressure, institutional silence, and the invisibility of emotional labour. Yet, educators also demonstrate resistance, mutual support networks, and pedagogical reinvention. Wellbeing is conceptualised as an ecological and political issue, influenced by institutional structures, the absence of public policies, and cultural narratives that continue to devalue the profession. Special focus is given to novice educators, whose entry into the field is characterised by vulnerability, lack of guidance, and identity tensions, pointing to the urgent need for better initial training and institutional support. This article presents a critical analysis of professionalism in early childhood education and care, with implications for teacher education, including mentoring, supervision, and public policy development. It frames the work of early childhood educators in day-care as both an ethical commitment and a form of resistance. Ultimately, it amplifies educators’ voices as knowledge producers and agents of change, contributing to the pedagogy of dignity and the recognition of a profession often rendered invisible. Persons with disabilities face barriers to accessing sexuality education. For those who identify as queer, these challenges are compounded by stigma, ableism, and heteronormativity, resulting in distinct and overlooked experiences. This study explored the sexuality education needs of persons with disabilities who identify as queer in Kenya—a neglected demographic—using a phenomenological approach. Data were collected through a focus group discussion with six participants and analyzed thematically. Three themes emerged: invisibility and erasure; unprepared institutions and constrained support networks; and agency and everyday resistance. Educational institutions often overlook the intersectional needs of persons with disabilities who identify as queer, leaving them without adequate tools to navigate relationships, sexuality, and rights. Support systems are often unprepared or unwilling to address these needs. Societal attitudes that desexualize disability and marginalize queerness intersect to produce compounded exclusion. Despite these challenges, participants demonstrated agency by using digital spaces and informal networks to resist exclusion. This calls for policy reforms that move beyond tokenism to address the lived realities of multiply marginalized groups. Policy reform means not only a legal or governmental shift but also a broader cultural and institutional process that creates space for recognition, protection, and participation. Full article

Despite decades of ongoing efforts to address gender equality, female physicians, particularly women of color, continue to face significant barriers in medicine, which are exacerbated by microaggressions. In this qualitative study, 133 female physicians recalled experiences with microaggressions and the impact of these experiences on their professional identities and career progression. Thematic analysis revealed four major themes: (1) disregard for professional status; (2) undermining contributions; (3) intersectionality; (4) impact on career mobility and professional confidence. Further, there was one emerging theme: leadership and culture. The results underscore the compounding effects of microaggressions for female physicians with intersecting identities. Highlighting the application of social identity theory, intersectionality, and organizational justice, this study provides a comprehensive view of the impact of microaggressions on female physicians, offering new perspectives on the intersectional nature of discrimination and its effects on professional identity and career satisfaction. Radical Imagination: An Afrofuturism and Creative Aging Program for Black Women’s Brain Health and Wellness

Intersectional oppression and invisibility are primary drivers of cognitive and mental health disparities that affect Black women’s wellness. Older Black women additionally experience compounding effects of ageism, which may place them at increased risk for a decline in cognitive functioning and mental wellness. To date, limited strengths-based, culturally relevant programming has focused on aging Black women. Fewer have incorporated Black women elders into conversations on Black liberation and the transformational change needed to create possible futures rooted in equity, healing, and health. This manuscript describes the inception and development of Radical Imagination, a creative aging program for Black women in the San Francisco Bay Area. Over ten weeks, 42 Black women (M age = 73.6, SD = 6.20; range: 58–85 years old) participated in the program, which incorporated brain and mental health education, art-making, storytelling, and photography. Grounded in principles of Afrofuturism and radical healing, participants explored past narratives of Black women and created a collective vision for a future that centers on Black women’s needs. Approximately 54.8% of participants attended more than one workshop. Upon program completion, exit surveys indicated that participants reported a moderate level of hopefulness about their ability to shape the future. Respondents reported overall satisfaction with the workshop series. We conclude with reflections on our process and recommendations for ways to support aging Black women using Afrofuturism and the arts. Full article
