Global decarbonization and the rapid growth of distributed energy resources increase the need for information-centric mechanisms that can support secure, scalable, cross-border coordination under heterogeneous technical and regulatory conditions. This paper proposes a Global Virtual Prosumer (GVP) framework that integrates IoT sensing, multi-agent coordination, and permissioned blockchain smart contracts to operationalize cross-border energy services as auditable service commitments rather than physical power exchange. Building on prior work that validated MAS-based power management and blockchain-secured operation within individual Virtual Prosumers, the present contribution lies in the cross-border coordination layer and its associated contractual and evaluation mechanisms, not in the constituent technologies themselves. A layered IoT–AI–blockchain architecture is introduced, where off-chain optimization produces allocations and admissibility indicators and on-chain contracts enforce identity, feasibility guards, delegation and partner-assignment rules, oracle verification, and settlement time compliance outcomes. The contractual lifecycle is formalized through four smart-contract algorithms covering trade registration, conditional delegation, cooperative fulfillment, and cross-border settlement with explicit failure semantics and event-based audit trails. The framework is evaluated on a global case study with seven Virtual Prosumers and quantified using contract-centric KPIs that capture registration time rejections, settlement success versus non-compliance, oracle-driven failure attribution, and full lifecycle traceability. The results demonstrate internal consistency of the proposed lifecycle and the practical value of KPI-driven accountability for cross-border energy service coordination. At the same time, the evaluation is based on synthetic parameterization and an emulated contract environment; realistic deployment constraints—including consensus latency, cross-region communication reliability, and regulatory overlap—are discussed as explicit limitations and directions for future empirical validation. The current study provides a comprehensive overview of the socioeconomic and sociodemographic conditions of Vietnamese fishing crews, who form the backbone of the nation’s marine capture fisheries but remain among the most vulnerable labor groups. Based on interviews with 2037 captains and crew members across six coastal provinces, the study examines demographic characteristics, education, working conditions, legal arrangements, and income determinants. Results show that the fishing labor force is entirely male, predominantly middle-aged, and characterized by limited formal education and long occupational experience. Employment relationships are largely informal and verbal, leaving crews without labor protection, social or health insurance, or contractual stability. Statistical analysis revealed significant income disparities between captains and crew members, between inshore and offshore fleets, and among fisheries and provinces. Fishing experience and professional certification were positively correlated with income, highlighting the importance of skill development. The findings underscore the urgent need for socioeconomic policies that formalize labor contracts, expand insurance coverage, promote vocational training, and modernize fishing technologies. These measures, combined with income diversification and community welfare programs, are critical to improving the well-being, safety, and resilience of Vietnam’s fishing workforce and advancing sustainable marine economic development. This study provides valuable baseline information on an underrepresented segment of the commercial fishing industry, informing fisheries managers and policymakers in designing future development programs that account for the socioeconomic and demographic conditions of fishing crews. Smart contracts raise persistent challenges regarding compliance with traditional contract formalities, including writing, signature, notarization, and in certain transactions, registration. These issues are particularly significant in high-value and public-facing transactions such as real estate, where formalities determine legal validity, evidentiary sufficiency and publicity effects. While existing scholarly work has examined these challenges from either doctrinal or technological perspectives, limited attention has been given to how the functional roles of formalities interact with blockchain architecture, practitioner perceptions and institutional legal frameworks. This study addresses this gap through a mixed-methods approach combining doctrinal legal analysis with qualitative socio-legal research based on 27 semi-structured interviews with legal professionals including attorneys, judges, and academic scholars. The analysis is grounded in a civil law framework, with particular reference to the Jordanian legal system, while references to the European Union’s eIDAS Regulation are used illustratively to demonstrate regulatory approaches to digital authentication. The findings demonstrate that blockchain-based systems can effectively support the evidentiary and attribution functions of contractual formalities through cryptographic verification, consensus mechanisms, and automated execution. However, they do not independently satisfy formalities that perform cautionary, constitutive, protective or public order function, namely notarization and registration, which remain dependent on institutional validation and legal recognition. The analysis further shows that practitioner concerns reflect not only doctrinal constraints but also institutional roles and varying levels of technical familiarity. To address these limitations, the study proposes a function-based analytical framework for evaluating smart contract formalities and identifies two complementary pathways for legal adaptation: (i) institutional integration, including registry-linkage systems and hybrid contracts; and (ii) technological adaptation, including digital authentication frameworks and legal oracles that connect on-chain execution to off-chain legal conditions. The study concludes that smart contract formalities’ challenges arise not solely from technological limitations, but from the interaction between legal doctrine, institutional structures, and system design. It advances a functional framework for aligning automation with the evidentiary, protective, and publicity functions of contractual formalities. Full article

The transition from isolated distributed ledgers to a unified “Internet of Value” is hindered by the lack of efficient, verifiable, and privacy-preserving cross-chain data retrieval mechanisms. While asset bridging has matured, generalized data indexing remains a critical bottleneck, constrained by the semantic gap between heterogeneous storage layouts and the prohibitive verification tax of cryptographic proofs. In this paper, we present HyperCross, a novel semantic-aware zero-knowledge indexing framework designed to bridge this divide. We first formalize the heterogeneous cross-chain storage optimization problem (HCCSOP) and prove its NP-completeness. To tackle this, HyperCross employs a synergistic tri-layered architecture. At the semantic layer, we introduce a unified data abstraction (UDA) that leverages category-theoretic functors and schema morphisms to ensure mathematically rigorous state mapping for both simple assets and complex smart contract logic. At the indexing layer, a zero-knowledge learning index (ZKLI) shifts prediction intelligence to the client side, integrating zk-SNARKs with silent oblivious transfer to achieve constant-time verification (O(1)) while concealing access patterns. Finally, a multi-level cache (MLC) utilizes predictive prefetching with Δ-bounded staleness to mask network latency. Extensive evaluations demonstrate that HyperCross reduces query latency by 2.4× and storage overhead by 40% compared to state-of-the-art baselines, establishing a scalable foundation for data-intensive inter-chain applications. Background: Blockchain is increasingly proposed to strengthen pharmaceutical traceability, anti-counterfeiting, and chain of custody in multi-actor supply chains, but the evidence base remains heterogeneous in technical rigor and operational clarity. Methods: We conducted a mapping review of Scopus and Web of Science to map publication patterns, identify dominant thematic configurations, and compare citation-salient studies across recurring solution profiles and operational design dimensions. The final corpus comprised 103 records. Results: The literature expanded rapidly from 2019 to 2025, with notable geographic concentration and dissemination mainly through technically focused outlets. Keyword analysis identified a core traceability theme, an implementation stream centered on smart contracts, Ethereum, and security, and additional streams involving vaccines and regulatory or credentialing concerns. Citation-salient studies clustered into implemented systems and prototypes, architecture or framework proposals, and contextual maturity or decision-layer evidence. Across these profiles, transferability depended less on platform choice than on governance and access-control assumptions, modular smart contract roles, and verifiable on-chain/off-chain data placement. Conclusions: Chain-of-custody semantics and evaluation methods remain inconsistently formalized, limiting cross-study comparability and the interpretability of operational claims. Benchmark-oriented assessments and minimal reporting standards specifying governance parameters, logistics scope and checkpoints, workload, measurement conditions, and concrete evidence artifacts are needed. The urgency of global sustainability challenges increased policy attention to Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), particularly in relation to Sustainable Development Goal 4.7, which calls for the systematic integration of sustainability competences across education systems. This article examines how organisational and structural approaches to continuous professional development (CPD) can support the institutionalisation of ESD beyond individual teacher training. The article adopts a case-based analytical approach drawing on programme documentation and evaluation data from two initiatives coordinated by the teacher training department of the District Government of Arnsberg in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany: the Erasmus+ consortium EFFORT-A, which links international mobility with school development processes, and the regional programme WIRkstatt Zukunft, which implements the Whole School Approach through modular training and school-based consultancy. The analysis indicates that multi-level governance, structured networking, leadership engagement, and formal contracting mechanisms are associated with the integration of ESD within school cultures, curricula, and organisational routines. Challenges are identified regarding resource allocation, policy coherence, and the long-term sustainability of project-based formats. The article concludes that sustained ESD implementation requires CPD systems that combine international perspectives with regionally anchored support structures and align individual professional learning with institutional development strategies, offering recommendations for policymakers and educational leaders. Routine-Biased Technological Change (RBTC) is viewed as reshaping labor markets, yet its implications for gender inequality in developing economies remain underexplored. This study examines these dynamics among formal wage workers in Indonesia from 2001 to 2019. Using stacked first-difference estimations and a dynamic shift-share decomposition, we document three interconnected patterns. First, routine displacement unfolds episodically rather than simultaneously—with relative contraction in routine cognitive jobs (2001–2005), routine manual jobs (2005–2010), and renewed routine cognitive pressures (2015–2019)—a sequence likely shaped by technological change alongside macroeconomic and institutional forces. Second, these adjustments are gender-asymmetric. Women experienced greater exposure to displacement but reallocated substantially toward non-routine interpersonal roles. This occupational upgrading is consistent with both task-based demand shifts associated with technological change and the entry of younger, more educated female cohorts. Third, employment reallocation exerted a narrowing influence on the gender wage gap, particularly in 2005–2010. However, this equalizing channel weakened over time as market valuation (wage exposure) became increasingly unfavorable to female-concentrated occupations, contributing to a renewed widening in 2015–2019. Ultimately, while residual within-task group dynamics dominate the gap’s magnitude, task-based employment and wage channels remain critical in structuring the timing and directional shifts of gender inequality in the formal sector. Declining birth rates are reshaping higher education across East Asia, accelerating the large-scale underutilization and, in some contexts, partial abandonment of university campus assets. Although adaptive reuse has been widely discussed, campus transformation is often framed primarily as a programmatic or policy problem, with limited attention to the inherited spatial logic embedded in campus morphology. This study revisits Le Corbusier’s concept of unlimited growth as a generative framework for campus transformation. Rather than treating it as a museum-specific historical typology, the research reinterprets unlimited growth as a scalable spatial logic defined by modular continuity, circulation hierarchy, and open-ended sequencing. To enhance reproducibility and operational clarity, the study formalizes a typo-morphological decoding protocol—modules, circulation, and growth sequence—and applies it through plan-, section-, and diagram-based analysis. Through comparative examination of three museum precedents—Sanskar Kendra Museum, the National Museum of Western Art (Tokyo), and the Chandigarh Museum and Art Gallery—the study extracts a set of transferable spatial mechanisms: modular increment, circulation-centered ordering, directional displacement, and fifth-façade ecological continuity. These mechanisms are then translated into an operational right-sizing model and tested through a design-operational demonstrator on a single anonymized Taiwanese campus experiencing demographic contraction. The findings indicate that unlimited growth functions not merely as a formal principle but as a spatial governance logic that supports phased consolidation, adaptive recomposition, and system-level coherence under long-term uncertainty. Importantly, this framework contributes to sustainability by reducing land consumption through spatial consolidation, minimizing unnecessary new construction, enabling adaptive reuse of existing campus assets, and improving long-term resource-use efficiency through phased right-sizing and ecological continuity. This study further advances a reproducible, mechanism-based methodological framework for institutional spatial transformation, providing a transferable approach for large-scale campus restructuring under conditions of long-term demographic and environmental uncertainty. This article examines how religious experience is articulated through genre in the poetry of the seventeenth-century Ottoman Mawlawī shaykh Neshāṭī (d. 1674), focusing on the striking contrast between his ghazals and non-ghazal compositions. While Neshāṭī’s qaṣīdas, mathnawīs and other formal genres employ an explicit and direct religious language—addressing God, the Prophet, sacred figures, and doctrinal themes—his ghazals are dominated by imagery of wine, love, and the beloved, which at first glance appears markedly profane. Rather than reading this contrast as a sign of secularization or doctrinal inconsistency, the article argues that it reflects a conscious poetic strategy shaped by the expressive style of the ghazal. Through a close reading of Neshāṭī’s Dīwān, the study demonstrates that religious meaning in ghazals is not absent but deliberately rendered implicit. Drawing on motifs such as the mirror, secret (sirr), annihilation (fanāʾ fīʾllāh), and states of spiritual contraction, Neshāṭī transforms the language of human love into a vehicle for divine experience. In this context, the ghazal emerges as a genre particularly suited to conveying religious meaning through ambiguity, emotional intensity, and symbolic indirection rather than overt doctrinal exposition. By situating Neshāṭī within both the Mawlawī tradition and the aesthetics of Sabk-i Hindī, this article highlights how genre manifests religious expression in Ottoman poetry. It proposes that divine encounter in Neshāṭī’s work is realized less through explicit theological discourse than through the affective and symbolic potential of the ghazal. In doing so, the study offers a new reading of Neshāṭī’s poetry and contributes to broader discussions on the relationship between literary/lyrical genre, mysticism, and religious experience in Islamic literary traditions. The Supply–Demand Dynamics of Lithium Resources and Sustainable Pathways for Vehicle Electrification in China

Lithium is a critical mineral for traction batteries and a cornerstone of the sustainable transition toward low-carbon transportation. Understanding the supply–demand dynamics and resource-saving potential of lithium is essential for advancing circular economy goals and ensuring the long-term stability of the electric vehicle (EV) industry. This study develops an integrated lithium forecast framework by coupling a System Dynamics (SD) model with dynamic Material Flow Analysis (MFA) and multi-scenario pathways. To ensure robust conclusions, the model is validated against historical data, and a multi-level sensitivity analysis is conducted to address the inherent uncertainties of evolving socio-technical assumptions over a ten-year horizon. The simulation results reveal that under the baseline scenario, China’s EV stocks and annual lithium demand will grow by 8.3 and 4.7 times from 2024 to 2035, respectively. This rapid expansion poses a significant sustainability challenge, as cumulative demand will deplete 50–71% of China’s domestic lithium reserves by 2035. Despite a projected supply–demand gap of 110–120 kt/yr, the study identifies critical pathways for resource decoupling and circularity. Technology-driven interventions, such as enhancing energy density and extending battery lifespan, can reduce primary lithium demand by up to 18.9%. Furthermore, optimizing the closed-loop recycling system can contract the supply–demand gap by 31–39%, demonstrating the pivotal role of secondary resource recovery in building a resilient supply chain. Despite this reduction, a persistent reliance on international markets remains inevitable. These findings provide a quantified scientific foundation for policymakers, emphasizing that lithium security requires a synergistic transition from volume-based subsidies to resource efficiency mandates and standardized, formal closed-loop recycling systems. The rapid convergence of the Internet of Things (IoT) and decentralized finance (DeFi) is reshaping the digital economy by enabling autonomous, trustless, and value-driven interactions among connected devices. This paper provides a comprehensive survey of the emerging paradigm that combines IoT’s pervasive sensing and communication capabilities with DeFi’s programmable financial infrastructure. We first discuss the motivation behind this convergence and explore key opportunities, including autonomous machine-to-machine (M2M) payments, decentralized data marketplaces, and trustless IoT service provisioning. Despite its potential, IoT–DeFi integration introduces significant security and privacy challenges related to smart contract vulnerabilities, consensus protocol risks, oracle manipulation, and constrained device capabilities. We review existing mitigation approaches such as lightweight cryptography, secure contract design, and decentralized identity management, and critically assess their limitations in heterogeneous, resource-limited environments. Building on this analysis, identify research gaps and propose future directions emphasizing formal verification of IoT-integrated smart contracts, robust oracle design, interoperability frameworks, and privacy-preserving trust models. This survey systematically maps opportunities, threats, and open issues. In doing so, it guides researchers and practitioners toward building secure, scalable, and energy-efficient IoT–DeFi ecosystems for next-generation decentralized applications. Full article

This research challenges the macro-centric narrative of crisis management by examining the socially embedded responses of small business owners during the global COVID-19 pandemic. While the literature frequently prioritizes the structural resilience of large firms, this study utilizes a novel conceptual framework to analyze how social networks, collective identities, and normative motivations shaped the adaptation strategies of over 27,000 entrepreneurs across 43 countries. Our analysis reveals that entrepreneurial agencies are deeply tied to interpersonal influence; expectations for future opportunities were significantly molded by peer effects, while the social contagion of nearby business closures exacerbated perceived impediments to growth. Furthermore, the study highlights a critical divergence based on entrepreneurial identity: family and purpose-driven actors—whose logic is rooted in social stability—suffered a more pronounced decline in innovation following income shocks compared to their wealth-driven counterparts. Finally, the study quantifies a significant structural shift in the entrepreneurial pipeline. While the pandemic triggered a 1.5% increase in potential entrepreneurs (reflecting a shift in societal aspirations), it caused a 2.3% contraction in emerging entrepreneurs, signaling a breakdown in the transition from individual intent to formal social organization. These findings suggest that crisis adaptation is not merely a financial calculation, but a complex negotiation of social support systems, peer-group benchmarking, and institutional trust. This investigation examined whether mirror visual feedback modulates crossover fatigue magnitude during unilateral handgrip exertion and whether efficacy demonstrates age-dependent and muscle-group-specific characteristics. Thirty-three participants stratified by developmental stage (adults: n = 17, 24.64 ± 5.38 years; children: n = 16, 11.87 ± 0.79 years) completed a randomized controlled crossover protocol incorporating three visual feedback conditions: mirror reflection of the exercised limb, occluded vision (no-mirror), and passive rest control. Participants performed unilateral dominant handgrip fatigue induction (20 × 6 s maximal voluntary isometric contractions) while bilateral force production was quantified pre-intervention and post-intervention across handgrip, elbow flexion, and elbow extension domains. Linear mixed-effects models with participant-specific random intercepts and slopes quantified Condition × Time × Limb interactions. In the non-exercised contralateral limb, linear mixed-effects models demonstrated that under the mirror condition, non-dominant handgrip force was maintained at rest-equivalent levels relative to control (+0.02 kg, 95% CI [−1.15, +1.17], p = 0.987, dz =+ 0.003), whereas vision occlusion induced significant crossover fatigue (−3.37 kg [−4.40, −2.35], p < 0.001, dz =− 1.16). All contrasts represent within-subject difference-of-differences in non-dominant limb change score (Post − Pre) extracted from the full factorial LMM via emmeans within the Limb = Non-dominant stratum pooled across age groups. The mirror versus no-mirror comparison yielded +3.38 kg [+2.43, +4.34], p < 0.001, dz =+ 1.26. Age-stratified analyses confirmed comparable effect magnitudes (adults: dz =+ 1.40; children: dz =+ 1.33). Muscle-group specificity emerged for handgrip but not elbow flexion (p = 0.068) or extension (p = 0.156). Age Group × Condition × Time × Limb interactions were non-significant (all p > 0.16), providing no evidence of age moderation within the tested developmental range. Mirror visual feedback constitutes an effective countermeasure against crossover fatigue in distal upper limb musculature. The magnitude of mirror-induced attenuation did not differ between children (aged 10–13 years) and adults within our sample, with no statistically detectable age moderation within the tested developmental range; formal equivalence testing was not conducted. Effects demonstrated anatomical selectivity, favoring hand musculature over proximal elbow musculature. Full article

High-dimensional survival analyses require calibrated risk and measurable uncertainty, but standard elastic net Cox models provide only point estimates. We develop a Bayesian elastic net Cox (BEN–Cox) model for high-dimensional proportional hazards regression that places a hierarchical global–local shrinkage prior on coefficients and performs full Bayesian inference via Hamiltonian Monte Carlo. We represent the elastic net penalty as a global–local Gaussian scale mixture with hyperpriors that learn the 1/2 trade-off, enabling adaptive sparsity that preserves correlated gene groups; using HMC with the Cox partial likelihood, we obtain full posterior distributions for hazard ratios and patient-level survival curves. Methodologically, we formalize a Bayesian analogue of the elastic net grouping effect at the posterior mode and establish posterior contraction under sparsity for the Cox partial likelihood, supporting the stability of the resulting risk scores. On the METABRIC breast cancer cohort (n=1903; p=440 gene-level features after preprocessing, derived from an Illumina HT-12 array with ≈24,000 probes at the raw feature level), BEN–Cox achieves slightly lower prediction error, higher discrimination, and better global calibration than a tuned ridge Cox, lasso Cox, and elastic net Cox baselines on a held-out test set. Posterior summaries provide credible intervals for hazard ratios and identify a compact gene panel that remains biologically plausible. BEN–Cox provides an uncertainty-aware alternative to tuned penalized Cox models with theoretical support, offering modest improvements in calibration and providing an interpretable sparse signature in highly-correlated survival data. Design of large-scale power systems is getting increasingly complex nowadays from an operational and reliability standpoint due to the uncertainties associated with the injection of renewables and consumption of load. These uncertainties pose a great challenge in gauging and subsequently obtaining reliable system-level assurances from subsystem-level guarantees, particularly in mission-critical systems such as those seen in data centers. We propose a formal and modular framework of probabilistic assume–guarantee contracts (PAGCs) for compositional reasoning and control of uncertain power systems, motivated by the need for resilient and verifiable operation in data center power networks. In contrast to classical contracts, which require absolute satisfaction of assumptions and guarantees, PAGCs allow for high-probability satisfaction under system uncertainty and variability. We formalize the syntax and semantics of PAGCs, develop soundness and compositionality theorems, and demonstrate their applicability to power grid components such as generators, transformers, circuit breakers, and loads. Given the current approval bottlenecks in interconnection requests, a growing number of data center operators are opting for islanded generation configuration. A case study on such a modular islanded data center power system is presented to validate the proposed theory. The proposed PAGC application in power networks is promising in several aspects to solve several existing open problems in distributed systems, particularly in future large-scale smart power networks.
