The rapid evolution of Industry 4.0 technologies has resulted in a scenario in which collaborative networks are essential to overcome the challenges related to their implementation. However, the frameworks to guide such collaborations remain underexplored. This study addresses this gap by proposing Business Rules and Goals Models to operationalize Industry 4.0 solutions through enterprise collaboration. Using the For Enterprise Modeling (4EM) method, the research integrates qualitative insights from expert opinions, including interviews with 12 professionals (academics, industry professionals, and consultants) from Brazilian manufacturing sectors. The Goals Model identifies five main objectives—competitiveness, efficiency, flexibility, interoperability, and real-time collaboration—while the Business Rules Model outlines 18 actionable recommendations, such as investing in digital infrastructure, upskilling employees, and standardizing information technology systems. The results reveal that cultural resistance, limited resources, and knowledge gaps are critical barriers, while interoperability and stakeholder integration emerge as enablers of digital transformation. The study concludes that successfully adopting Industry 4.0 requires technological investments, organizational alignment, structured governance, and collaborative ecosystems. These models provide a practical roadmap for companies navigating the complexities of Industry 4.0, emphasizing adaptability and cross-functional synergy. The research contributes to the literature on collaborative networks by connecting theoretical frameworks with actionable enterprise-level strategies. Full article

Research concerning green marketing has predominantly focused on consumer behavior. However, aspects such as the extent to which Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) embrace green marketing values, their ability to implement the green marketing mix, and the integration of green marketing into their business culture are critically important. This research aims to provide the 4P (product, price, place, and promotion)-focused green marketing literature with a measurement tool to assess how SMEs implement green marketing practices. The study employed a descriptive design and possesses an exploratory nature. Scale development involved two stages: First, analyses were conducted on a pre-test sample of 159 individuals, revealing the initial scale structure. Second, these analyses were repeated on a larger group of 387 participants. The scale was finalized by confirming the consistency of results across both analyses. Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 24 and Analysis of Moment Structures (AMOS) version 24 were utilized for descriptive statistics and the scale development process. The final validated 12-item scale demonstrates a robust three-factor structure (“Environmental Promotion”, ”Green Packaging”, and ”Green Distribution”), explaining 62.6% of the total variance. The scale exhibits excellent psychometric properties, including high internal consistency (Cronbach’s α = 0.912), strong model fit from Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA), and both convergent and discriminant validity, as indicated by an Average Variance Extracted (AVE) value of 0.605. The scale is deemed applicable to larger populations. Full article

This article presents a theological framework of a Theology of Living, which seeks to reimagine the task of theology as a lived, communal and practical enterprise. Departing from purely systematic or disembodied approaches, this theology emphasises the relational and contextual dimensions of Christian faith. The embedded nature of theology acknowledges that theological reflection is always situated within particular histories, cultures and communities. The deliberative dimension foregrounds the necessity of intentional, dialogical discernment in response to complex moral and spiritual challenges. The embodied aspect affirms that theology is not merely spoken or written, but enacted through the rhythms of everyday life, worship and service. Drawing upon pastoral experience, biblical reflection and theological discourse, this article proposes that such an integrated approach to theology not only bridges the gap between doctrine and practice but also reclaims theology’s vocational role in forming individuals and communities shaped by love, justice and hope. This study aimed to analyze the influence of local politics, village facilitators, recruitment of administrators, training and education, and organizational culture on work motivation and management performance. The study was conducted in Wajo Regency, South Sulawesi Province, Indonesia, utilizing primary data collected from 250 participants, including administrators of village-owned enterprises (BUMDES), community leaders, and representatives from the private sector. The data were analyzed using structural equation modeling (SEM) with the LISREL program. The results indicated that the latent variables of local politics, village facilitator, recruitment of administrators, training and education, and organizational culture had a positive and significant impact on work motivation and management performance. These findings are valuable key indicators and provide essential insights for promoting and driving the BUMDES as a pillar of rural development strategies. Based on these findings, it is recommended that the local government revitalize the local political system, reorient the organizational culture of the BUMDES toward a modern business-oriented culture suited to rural conditions, and enhance the training and education of village facilitators to improve their motivation and performance. This recommendation will empower the BUMDES to promote rural economic improvement and sustainable rural development by enhancing work motivation and management performance. Full article

Enterprise architecture (EA) provides a strategic foundation for aligning business processes, IT infrastructure, and organizational strategy, enabling firms to navigate uncertainty and complexity. In developing economies, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) face significant challenges in maintaining financial resilience and sustainable growth amidst frequent disruptions. This study investigates how EA-driven change events affect SME financial performance by activating three key adaptive mechanisms: improvisational capability, flexible IT systems, and organizational culture. A novel classification of EA change triggers is proposed to guide adaptive responses. Using survey data from 291 Pakistani SMEs collected during the COVID-19 crisis, the study employs structural equation modeling (SEM) to validate the conceptual model. The results indicate that improvisational capability and flexible IT systems significantly enhance financial performance, while the mediating role of organizational culture is statistically insignificant. This study contributes to EA and sustainability literature by integrating a typology of EA triggers with adaptive capabilities theory and testing their effects in a real-world crisis context. This study examines the role of public–private partnerships in promoting the sustainable development of travel destinations through a comparative analysis of two emblematic heritage-based hospitality projects: Dar Tantora in Al Ula, Saudi Arabia, and Sextantio Le Grotte della Civita in Matera, Italy. These case studies were analysed through both architectural–urban and economic–legal perspectives to highlight how public–private partnership models can support heritage conservation, community engagement, and responsible tourism development. A mixed-methods approach was employed, combining quantitative indicators—such as projected profitability, tourist volume, and employment—with qualitative insights from interviews with key stakeholders. The analysis reveals that while both models prioritise cultural authenticity and adaptive reuse, they differ significantly in funding structures, legal frameworks, and governance dynamics. Dar Tantora exemplifies a top-down, publicly funded model integrated into Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 strategy, whereas Sextantio reflects a bottom-up, private initiative rooted in social enterprise. The findings offer insights into how different public–private partnership configurations can foster sustainable tourism development, depending on local context, institutional frameworks, and strategic goals. The study contributes to the broader discourse on regenerative tourism, architectural conservation, and policy-driven heritage reuse. Full article

The gradual recovery of the economy has positioned the digital economy as a vital force driving global economic growth. However, the sustainability of this emerging economic sector is being tested by unexpected systemic shocks. There is a scarcity of research on the factors influencing the sustainable development of the digital economy. Therefore, developing a framework to assess the sustainability of the digital economy is significant. Building on previous research, this study established an evaluation system that extracts key indicators across four dimensions: society, the economy, the environment, and technology. Data were then collected through questionnaires and in-depth interviews with experts. Subsequently, this study employed the fuzzy Decision-Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory–Analytical Network Process (fuzzy DANP) method to determine the weight of each indicator and used the Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to the Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) method to evaluate the sustainability of the digital economy in three cities. Sensitivity analysis was conducted to validate this comprehensive evaluation method. The results indicate that society and the economy are the two most crucial dimensions, while the regional economic development level, enterprise innovation culture, and digital divide are the top three indicators affecting the sustainable development of the digital economy industry. This work suggests that the digital economy industry should enhance regional economic levels, strengthen technological and innovative corporate cultures, and narrow the digital divide to achieve the goal of sustainable development in the digital economy sector. The present study examines the role of knowledge management practices in developing business intelligence systems (BISMs) and organizational sustainability (OS) in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Saudi Arabia. With the underpinning of the knowledge-based view (KBV) in the model of the study, the study employed a deductive approach. Cross-sectional data were gathered from CEOs, senior managers, and business intelligence officers using both offline and online survey tools. Finally, the study utilized 356 usable cases to support its conclusions. The study confirmed a positive effect on knowledge management practices, i.e., knowledge acquisition (KAG) and knowledge dissemination (KDM) on BISMs and OS. On the other hand, the impact of knowledge responsiveness (KRN) on BISMs is negative but positive on OS. Furthermore, BISMs have a positive effect on OS and entrepreneurial leadership (ELP). ELP also positively affects OS. Finally, ELP mediates the relationship between BISMs and OS. The study provides guidelines for SME managers and policymakers on how to invest in knowledge management initiatives to foster a culture of continuous learning and information sharing. The study directly supports Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, which requires the development of the sustainability of SMEs. Finally, the study addresses the gaps in the integrated model, providing empirical evidence from a developing context. Full article

In the context of macroeconomic recovery and accelerating digital transformation in the post-pandemic era, the hotel industry in China is undergoing profound structural changes. This research investigates the core competencies required for hotel managers to navigate these challenges. Data was collected via a quantitative survey involving a structured questionnaire, was conducted among hotel managers in Shanghai, China, resulting in 404 valid responses. Employing exploratory factor analysis using SPSS, this study identifies seven key competency dimensions encompassing 36 ranked items, including interpersonal communication, leadership, operational knowledge, human resource management, financial analysis, technology, and administrative management. The results show that economic recovery has brought new opportunities but also challenges to the hotel industry, and that managers must possess a diverse set of core competencies to adapt to the demanding new market changes. The novelty of this research lies in its empirical grounding and its focus on the intersection of digitalization and economic recovery within China’s hotel industry. It pioneers a dynamic strategic competency framework tailored to the evolving demands of the hotel industry during a period of economic volatility, providing empirical evidence and advice for optimizing the industry’s talent training systems. Simultaneously, it brings a new perspective for dealing with the recovery path for the hotel enterprises in other urban and travel destinations, aiming to promote industry sustainability and competitive advantages. Future research could extend the proposed framework by exploring its applicability across different cultural and economic contexts. Full article

Tourism learning resources refer to tourism attractions that carry learning content or stimulate learning behaviors for tourists, thereby determining the quality and effectiveness of tourists’ learning experiences. Actively developing tourism learning resources and manifesting tourism learning functions serves as an innovative practical path for cultivating new quality productivity in tourism and bears the contemporary mission of constructing a national lifelong learning system in the context of Chinese-style modernization. However, at the present stage, Chinese tourists, tourism enterprises, and government functional departments still lack a clear and systematic understanding of the connotations and characteristics of tourism learning resources. This knowledge gap restricts the depth and breadth of resource development. To address the identified gaps, this study begins by exploring the relationship between tourism and learning. Through a systematic literature review, it aims to develop a conceptual framework for tourism learning resources to promote lifelong learning and support sustainable tourism development. Taking this framework as a tool, this paper first explains the connotation and characteristics of tourism learning resources; secondly, classifies them into knowledge popularization, natural observation, skill experience, inspirational development, and cultural recreation types; thirdly, identifies their functional manifestations as acquiring experience, knowledge, skills, and wisdom; and finally, proposes development strategies for tourism learning resources. The most critical strategies identified are (1) enhancing tourism learning literacy, (2) optimizing learning-oriented products, and (3) constructing regionally integrated learning destinations. This study addresses the critical gap in understanding how internal green capabilities and practices drive environmental sustainability in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), particularly within the context of a developing economy. While prior studies have explored green intellectual capital (GIC), green human resource management (GHRM), and green innovation separately, their combined effects and mechanisms have been underexplored. Grounded in the Resource-Based View (RBV), this research examines how GIC and GHRM influence environmental performance, considering green innovation as a mediating factor and green transformational leadership as a moderating factor. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire from 329 manufacturing SMEs in major industrial regions of Pakistan and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The findings demonstrate that GIC and GHRM significantly enhance environmental performance both directly and indirectly via green innovation, while green transformational leadership strengthens the effect of GHRM on innovation. These results provide practical insights for managers and policymakers in developing countries to implement integrated green strategies and leadership development to achieve sustainability targets. Given its focus on Pakistani SMEs, the generalizability of the findings may be limited, suggesting directions for future research in other cultural and economic settings. Full article

Organizational performance defines how well an organization achieves its goals and objectives. To fulfill these, the organization should improve its logistical competencies including delivery speed, order accuracy, and returns handling. At the same time, social media plays an important role. Therefore, the main objective of this study is to examine and research the influence of logistical competence on the performance of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) with the moderating effect of the competitive advantages of social media. We used a quantitative, descriptive, cause–effect, and cross-sectional approach to actualize this research. A non-probability convenience sampling method was used as it is cost-effective, practical, easy to access, and time-efficient. The main variables, such as delivery speed, order accuracy, and returns handling, were analyzed to determine their influence on organizational performance. A total of 163 respondents participated, ranging from middle to top management employees in SMEs, specifically in Jordan, who completed a structured Google form. Simple, multiple, and hierarchical regression were used to check the hypotheses in this research. The conclusion shows that logistical competence positively affects organizational performance, with competitive advantages in social media campaigns enhancing this effect significantly; this was evident as social media campaigns emerged as an essential platform for marketing logistical strengths and boosting customer engagement. This study and research give recommendations for SMEs to integrate logistics and E-marketing strategies properly. Regarding the study limitations, we see that the regional focus and the small sample size are acknowledged. In the future, research is highly encouraged which looks into industry-specific dynamics, advancing technologies, and cross-cultural contexts. This research bridges the gap between logistics and marketing, thus showcasing a framework promoting logistical competence to gain a competitive advantage in the SME market. Full article

Digital transformation is the process of using digital technologies for creating or modifying existing business processes and customer experience, leveraging cutting-edge technology to meet changing market needs. Disruptions like the COVID-19 pandemic, regional wars, and climate-driven natural disasters create consequential scenarios, e.g., global supply chain disruption creating further demand–supply mismatch for healthcare enterprises. According to KPMG’s 2021 Healthcare CEO Future Pulse, 97% of healthcare leaders reported that COVID-19 significantly accelerated the digital transformation agenda. Successful digital transformation initiatives, for example, digital twins for supply chains, augmented reality, the IoT, and cybersecurity technology initiatives implemented significantly enhanced resiliency in supply chain and manufacturing operations. However, according to another study conducted by Mckinsey & Company, 70% of digital transformation efforts for healthcare enterprises fail to meet their goals. Healthcare enterprises face unique challenges, such as complex regulatory environments, cultural resistance, workforce IT skills, and the need for data interoperability, which make digital transformation a challenging project. Therefore, this study explored potential barriers, enablers, disruption scenarios, and digital transformation use cases for healthcare enterprises. A structured literature review (SLR), followed by thematic content analysis, was conducted to inform the research objectives. A sample of sixty (n = 60) peer-reviewed journal articles were analyzed using research screening criteria and keywords aligned with research objectives. The key themes for digital transformation use cases identified in this study included information processing capability, workforce enablement, operational efficiency, and supply chain resilience. Collaborative leadership as a change agent, collaboration between information technology (IT) and operational technology (OT), and effective change management were identified as the key enablers for digital transformation of healthcare enterprises. This study will inform digital transformation leaders, researchers, and healthcare enterprises in the development of enterprise-level proactive strategies, business use cases, and roadmaps for digital transformation. Artificial Intelligence Adoption in SMEs: Survey Based on TOE–DOI Framework, Primary Methodology and Challenges

Despite the transformative potential of artificial intelligence (AI), small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) continue to face significant challenges in its effective adoption. While prior studies have emphasized strategic benefits and readiness models, there remains a lack of operational guidance tailored to SME realities—particularly regarding implementation barriers, resource constraints, and emerging demands for responsible AI use. This study presents an analysis of AI adoption in SMEs by integrating the technology–organization–environment (TOE) framework with selected attributes from the diffusion of innovations (DOI) theory to examine adoption dynamics through a dual structural and perceptual lens. Empirical insights from sectoral and regional contexts are also incorporated. Ten critical challenges are identified and analyzed across the TOE dimensions, ranging from data access and skill shortages to cultural resistance, infrastructure limitations, and weak governance practices. Notably, the framework is expanded to incorporate responsible AI governance and democratized access to generative AI—particularly open-weight large language models (LLMs) such as LLaMA, DeepSeek-R1, Mistral, and FALCON—as emerging technological and ethical imperatives. Each challenge is paired with actionable, context-sensitive solutions. The paper is a structured, literature-based conceptual analysis enriched by empirical case study insights. As a key contribution, it introduces a structured, six-phase roadmap methodology to guide SMEs through AI adoption—offering step-by-step recommendations aligned with technological, organizational, and strategic readiness. While this roadmap is conceptual and has yet to be validated through field data, it sets a foundation for future diagnostic tools and practical assessments. The resulting study bridges theoretical insight and implementation strategy—empowering inclusive, responsible, and scalable AI transformation in SMEs. By offering both analytical clarity and practical relevance, this study contributes to a more grounded understanding of AI integration and calls for policies, ecosystems, and leadership models that support SMEs in adopting AI not merely as a tool, but as a strategic enabler of sustainable and inclusive innovation. Enterprise digital transformation has emerged as a key strategy for enhancing innovation capacity in the age of the digital economy. This article aims to analyze the influence mechanism of digital transformation on corporate innovation and evaluate the mediating function of corporate innovation and cooperative cultures between digital transformation and corporate innovation capability. This work builds a panel data model based on data from Chinese A-share listed businesses from 2012 to 2021, empirically analyzes it using the Tobit model and the fixed effects model with instrumental variables technique, and uses the mediation effect test to uncover the course of action. According to the report, digital transformation significantly enhances creativity capability; second, corporate collaborative and innovation cultures mediate the relationship between digital transformation and innovation outcomes, and cultural capital becomes a crucial link; and third, the influence of digital transformation on corporate innovation capability is greater in state-owned enterprises, non-monopoly industries, and high-tech industries. According to the study, businesses should work to realize the dual-wheel drive of “technological investment + cultural cultivation” and establish an open and collaborative innovation ecosystem, while the government should intensify the development of digital infrastructure, enhance the supporting system, encourage cultural construction and talent supply, and create an environment that supports the synergistic development of digitization and innovation.
