Prematurity and autism spectrum disorder (ASD) are risk factors for alterations in language development. Their coexistence, frequent in twin pregnancies, may result in atypical communicative profiles that require specific interventions. This case report analyzed the linguistic, cognitive, and socioemotional development of two premature twins with ASD, relating the results to the therapeutic strategies applied. Standardized tests were applied to measure cognitive, linguistic, adaptive, and socioemotional development. The intervention combined the TEACCH, ABA, DIR/Floortime, and Hanen—More Than Words models. Both children showed significant impairments in communication, executive functions, and autonomy, with differentiated clinical profiles. Individualized interventions favored advances in functional language, emotional regulation, and routines, although challenges in language generalization and pragmatics persisted. The combination of prematurity and ASD creates complex challenges that require individualized therapeutic approaches. Early and intensive intervention, based on structured and relational approaches, is useful to promote functional and communicative development. Full article

The field emission current in a vacuum (IT=αE2/eβ/E, where α and β are constants) depends on the electric field strength E. In other words, the differential resistance (dIT/dV)1 in a vacuum does not follow Ohm’s law. Therefore, the relationship governing the capacitance and current between two electrodes in a vacuum is an intriguing research topic. In this study, we constructed an interface structure in which contact areas and non-contact vacuum areas coexisted by adhering two Si wafers and measuring the capacitance characteristics of this structure. A volatile capacitance appeared at the interface, with the contact areas contributing to positive capacitance and the vacuum areas contributing to negative capacitance. The tunneling current passing through the interface played an important role in the formation of the negative capacitance. Full article

Bacteriophages of the order Crassvirales are highly abundant and near-universal members of the human gut microbiome worldwide. Zeta crAss-like phages comprise a separate group in the order Crassvirales, and their genomes exhibit greater variability than genomes of crAss-like phages from other families within the order. Zeta crAss-like phages employ multiple adaptation mechanisms, ensuring their survival despite host defenses and environmental pressure. Some Zeta crAss-like phages use alternative genetic coding and exploit diversity-generating retroelements (DGRs). These features suggest complex evolutionary relationships with their bacterial hosts, sustaining parasitic coexistence. Mutations in tail fiber proteins introduced by DGR can contribute to their adaptation to changes in the host cell surface and even expand the range of their hosts. In addition, the exchange of DNA polymerases via recombination makes it possible to overcome the bacterial anti-phage protection directed at these enzymes. Zeta crAss-like phages continuously adapt due to genetic diversification, host interaction tweaks, and counter-defense innovations, driving an evolutionary arms race with hosts. Based on the genome characteristics of the Zeta crAss-like phages, we propose to separate them into the Echekviridae family (“эчәк”—“intestines” in Tatar) following the tradition of using the word “intestines” in different languages, suggested previously. The widespread scrapping of retired mechanical parts has led to severe waste of resources and environmental burdens, posing a significant challenge to sustainable industrial development. To enable efficient recycling of retired mechanical parts and enhance the sustainability of their remanufacturing processes, the concept of biological genes is adopted to characterize the changes in the information of retired mechanical parts during the remanufacturing process as gene mutations of parts, aiming to maximize remanufacturing potential and devise an optimal generalized remanufacturing strategy for extending part life cycles. However, gene mutation of retired mechanical parts is not an isolated event. The modification of local genes may disrupt the original equilibrium of the part’s state, leading to conflicts such as material–performance, structure–function/performance, and function–performance. These conflicts constitute a major challenge and bottleneck in designing generalized remanufacturing schemes. Therefore, we propose a conflict identification and resolution method for gene mutation of retired mechanical parts. First, gene mutation graph of retired mechanical parts is established to express its all-potential remanufacturing pathways. Using discrimination rules and the element representation method from extenics, mutation conflicts are identified, and a conflict problem model is constructed. Then, the theory of inventive problem solving (TRIZ) engineering parameters are reconstructed and mapped to the mutation conflict parameters. The semantic mapping between the inventive principles and the transforming bridges is established by the Word2Vec algorithm, thereby improving the transforming bridge method to generate conflict resolution solutions. A coexistence degree function of transforming bridges is proposed to verify the feasibility of the resolution solutions. Finally, taking the generalized remanufacturing of a retired gear shaft as an example, we analyze and discuss the process and outcome of resolving gene mutation conflicts, thereby verifying the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed concepts and methodology. This study focuses on the issue of visual sustainability of colors in commercial historical districts, taking the historical area of Xueshi Street–Wuzoufang Street in Suzhou, China as a case study. It explores how to balance modern commercial development with the protection of historical culture. Due to the impact of commercialization and the introduction of various immature protection policies, historical districts often face the dilemma of coexisting “color conflict” and “color poverty”. Traditional color protection methods are either overly subjective or excessively quantitative, making it difficult to balance scientific rigor and adaptability. Therefore, this study provides a detailed literature review, compares and selects current quantitative color research methods, and proposes a comprehensive color analysis framework based on ViT (Vision Transformer), the CIEDE2000 color difference model, and K-means clustering (V-C-K framework). Using this framework, we conducted an in-depth analysis of the color-harmony situation in the studied area, aiming to accurately identify color issues in the district and provide optimization strategies. The experimental results show that the commercial colors of the Xueshi Street–Wuzoufang Street historical district exhibit a clear phenomenon of polarization: some areas have colors that are overly bright, leading to visual conflict, while others have colors that are too dull, lacking vitality and energy; furthermore, some areas display a mix of both conditions. Based on this situation, we then compared the extracted negative colors to the prohibited colors in the mainstream Munsell color system’s urban-color management guidelines. We found that colors with “high lightness and high saturation”, which are strictly limited by traditional color criteria, are not necessarily disharmonious, while “low lightness and low saturation” colors that are not restricted may not guarantee harmony either and could exacerbate the area’s “dilapidated feeling”. In other words, traditional color-protection standards often emphasize the safety of “low saturation and low lightness” colors unilaterally, ignoring that they can also cause dullness and discordance in certain environments. Under the ΔE (color difference value) threshold framework, color recognition is relatively more sensitive, balancing the inclusivity of “vibrant” colors and the caution against “dull” colors. Based on the above experimental results, this study proposes the following recommendations: (1) use the ΔE00 threshold to control the commercial colors in the district, ensuring that the colors align with the historical atmosphere while possessing commercial vitality; (2) in protection practices, comprehensively utilize the ViT, CIEDE2000, and K-means quantitative methods (i.e., the V-C-K framework) to reduce subjective errors; (3) based on the above quantitative framework, while referencing the reasonable parts of existing protection guidelines, combine cooperative collaboration, cultural group color preference surveys, policy incentives, and continuous monitoring and feedback to construct an operable plan for the entire “recognition–analysis–control” process. We pose and address the radical question of whether quantum mechanics, known for its firm internal structure and enormous empirical success, carries in itself the genomes of larger quantum theories that have higher internal intricacy and phenomenological versatility. In other words, we consider, at the basic level of closed quantum systems and regardless of interpretational aspects, whether standard quantum theory (SQT) harbors quantum theories with context-based deformed principles or structures, having definite predictive power within much broader scopes. We answer this question in the affirmative following complementary evidence and reasoning arising from quantum-computation-based quantum simulation and fundamental, general, and abstract rationales within the frameworks of information theory, fundamental or functional emergence, and participatory agency. In this light, as we show, one is led to the recently proposed experience-centric quantum theory (ECQT), which is a larger and richer theory of quantum behaviors with drastically generalized quantum dynamics. ECQT allows the quantum information of the closed quantum system’s developed state history to continually contribute to defining and updating the many-body interactions, the Hamiltonians, and even the internal elements and “particles” of the total system. Hence, the unitary evolutions are continually impacted and become guidable by the agent system’s experience. The intrinsic interplay of unitarity and non-Markovianity in ECQT brings about a host of diverse behavioral phases, which concurrently infuse closed and open quantum system characteristics, and it even surpasses the theory of open systems in SQT. From a broader perspective, a focus of our investigation is the existence of the quantum interactome—the interactive landscape of all coexisting, independent, context-based quantum theories that emerge from inferential participatory agencies—and its predictive phenomenological utility. Background: Chronic pelvic pain is a debilitating condition affecting quality of life. Endometriosis is one of the leading causes of CPP, but recent studies highlighted the role of interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome (IC/PBS) in causing CPP. Only some studies addressed the coexistence of these two conditions, which seems more frequent than what is supposed, leading to diagnostic delays and unnecessary surgeries. This systematic review aimed to evaluate the estimate of the prevalence of the comorbidity of endometriosis and IC/PBS. Methods: We performed a systematic review of the literature indexed on PubMed, Scopus, ISI Web of Science, and Cochrane using a combination of keywords and text words represented by “painful bladder syndrome”, “endometriosis”, “interstitial cystitis”, and “bladder pain syndrome”. We performed a meta-analysis of the results. Results: The meta-analysis shows that the coexistence of endometriosis and IC/PBS in women with CPP ranged from 15.5% to 78.3%, which is higher than the prevalence of IC/PBS in the general population. Conclusions: Prevalence data about the coexistence of endometriosis and IC/PBS are highly heterogeneous, probably due to the paucity of available data. However, in cases of endometriosis unresponsive to treatment, other reasons for CPP (such as IC/PBS) need to be ruled out. Full article

This review article presents a systematic approach consisting of 11 sequential steps for constructing a reference list, ranging from broad initial searches to excluding irrelevant references. It emphasizes refining methodologies to develop a coherent list of references aligned with the study’s scope, bolstering the knowledge base, and facilitating subsequent analyses. Urban planners and designers can apply these steps in database searches to create robust reference lists, thereby enhancing the quality and reliability of their research and ensuring future adaptability. Idiopathic normal-pressure hydrocephalus (iNPH) is a clinic-radiological neurological syndrome presenting with cognitive deficits, gait disturbances and urinary incontinence. It often coexists with Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Due to the reversible nature of iNPH when promptly treated, a lot of studies have focused on possible biomarkers, among which are cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) biomarkers. The aim of the present study was to determine the rate of beta-amyloid pathology and AD co-pathology by measuring AD CSF biomarkers, namely, amyloid beta with 42 and 40 amino acids (Aβ42), the Aβ42/Aβ40 ratio, total Tau protein (t-Tau) and phosphorylated Tau protein at threonine 181 (p-Tau), in a cohort of iNPH patients, as well as to investigate the possible associations among CSF biomarkers and iNPH neuropsychological profiles. Fifty-three patients with iNPH were included in the present study. CSF Aβ42, Aβ40, t-Tau and p-Tau were measured in duplicate with double-sandwich ELISA assays. The neuropsychological evaluation consisted of the Mini-Mental State Examination, Frontal Assessment Battery, Five-Word Test and CLOX drawing tests 1 and 2. After statistical analysis, we found that amyloid pathology and AD co-pathology are rather common in iNPH patients and that higher values of t-Tau and p-Tau CSF levels, as well as the existence of the AD CSF profile, are associated with more severe memory impairment in the study patients. In conclusion, our study has confirmed that amyloid pathology and AD-co-pathology are rather common in iNPH patients and that CSF markers of AD pathology and t-Tau are associated with a worse memory decline in these patients. Specialized languages can activate different sets of semantic features when compared to general language or express concepts through different words according to the domain. The specialized lexicon, i.e., lexical units that denote more specific concepts and knowledge emerging from specific domains, however, co-exists with the common lexicon, i.e., the set of lexical units that denote concepts and knowledge shared by the average speakers, regardless of their specific training or expertise. Communication between specialists and non-specialists can show a big gap between language(s), and therefore lexical units, used by the two groups. However, quite often, semantic and conceptual overlapping between specialized and common lexical units occurs and, in many cases, the specialized and common units refer to close concepts or even point to the same reality. Considering the modeling of meaning in functional lexical resources, this paper puts forth a solution that links common and specialized lexica within the WordNet model framework. We propose a new relation expressing semantic proximity between common and specialized units and define the conditions for its establishment. Besides contributing to the observation and understanding of the process of knowledge specialization and its reflex on the lexicon, the proposed relation allows for the integration of specialized and non-specialized lexicons into a single database, contributing directly to improving communication in specialist/non-specialist contexts, such as teaching–learning situations or health professional-patient interactions, among many others, where code-switching is frequent and necessary. In 2020, South Korea implemented the Green New Deal, and in 2022, it officially proposed the goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. To effectively promote the development of green buildings in South Korea, it is crucial to analyze their evolutionary trends and processes. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to summarize and predict the development trajectory of green buildings in South Korea by studying the research and development trends in this field. Accordingly, this study used content analysis as a research method to analyze 89 research papers and their subject words published from 2001 to 2023. Further in-depth analysis was conducted on five sub-dimensions: technical, economic, legal, systemic, and the popularization and development of green buildings. Since 2000, research has mainly focused on the improvement and development of evaluation index systems and the exploration of energy-saving technologies. In terms of the research and development of green building materials, there is a problem of slow development. In terms of green building management, there is a lack of specific management methods or systematic research. Economic aspects should be studied from the consumers’ perspective. Hence, opportunities and challenges coexist and require joint efforts from the government, academia, enterprises, and other parties. Full article

Apraxia of speech is a persistent speech motor disorder that affects speech intelligibility. Studies on speech motor disorders with transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS) have been mostly directed toward examining post-stroke aphasia. Only a few tDCS studies have focused on apraxia of speech or childhood apraxia of speech (CAS), and no study has investigated individuals with CAS and Trisomy 21 (T21, Down syndrome). This N-of-1 randomized trial examined the effects of tDCS combined with a motor learning task in developmental apraxia of speech co-existing with T21 (ReBEC RBR-5435x9). The accuracy of speech sound production of nonsense words (NSWs) during Rapid Syllable Transition Training (ReST) over 10 sessions of anodal tDCS (1.5 mA, 25 cm) over Broca’s area with the cathode over the contralateral region was compared to 10 sessions of sham-tDCS and four control sessions in a 20-year-old male individual with T21 presenting moderate–severe childhood apraxia of speech (CAS). The accuracy for NSW production progressively improved (gain of 40%) under tDCS (sham-tDCS and control sessions showed < 20% gain). A decrease in speech severity from moderate–severe to mild–moderate indicated transfer effects in speech production. Speech accuracy under tDCS was correlated with Wernicke’s area activation (P3 current source density), which in turn was correlated with the activation of the left supramarginal gyrus and the Sylvian parietal–temporal junction. Repetitive bihemispheric tDCS paired with ReST may have facilitated speech sound acquisition in a young adult with T21 and CAS, possibly through activating brain regions required for phonological working memory. Natural landscapes are being converted for agriculture and other human uses across Asia and this development presents potential threats for specialist species of primates, like the Endangered slow lorises of Thailand (Nycticebus bengalensis and N. coucang). It is crucial to understand the interface between humans and slow lorises in order to conserve these primates. Local ecological knowledge provides valuable information about these cryptic nocturnal species. We conducted 36 semi-structured interviews in Khao Lak, in southern Thailand, asking (1) where slow lorises were seen, (2) what they were doing, (3) how often people see slow lorises, and (4) what people knew about them. We converted the interviews to free lists and determined the importance of key words. Our results show that the informants saw lorises frequently in six general locations: forests/trees (58%), electric wires (47%), towns/villages (36%), plantations (33%), homesteads (28%), and roads (17%). The most prominent places were forests/trees, wires, and plantations. Eleven key concepts defined local beliefs, with the most prominent being that lorises are awake at night (69%), eat fruit (42%), are not aggressive (25%), are bad omens (25%), and there used to be more of them (25%). Due to a minimal presence of persecution or exploitation of slow lorises by humans in the study area and general tolerance in the face of competition for the same resources and spaces, we suggest that, despite extensive persecution for the illegal photo prop trade in nearby Phuket, the people of Khao Lak seem to live in a state of passive coexistence with slow lorises. However, we did find some evidence that the pet and photo prop trade are still present in the area. It is crucial that coexistence be struck within the context of deforestation and urbanization so that conservation initiatives can take place within the community to further improve the lives of humans and the status of lorises. The Chinese language has witnessed remarkable changes in the past several decades, marked by a rapid rise of new words, frequent innovation of pseudo-affixes, and a notable increase in word length. By analyzing the creation, spread, and expansion of the new word 健康码 Jiankang-ma “health QR code”, this study sheds light on how language change takes place and how nonce formation is brought into being. Following the explosion of COVID-19 in China, 健康码 Jiankang-ma “health QR code” was created and promoted by the local and central governments and subsequently generated a large XX-码 XX-ma “XX-code” word family through various morphological processes, such as abbreviation, clipping, derivation, and analogy, where -码 -ma “-code” has acquired some new meaning distinct from its original form as a bound root. Linguistically, 健康码 Jiankang-ma “health QR code” is a three-morpheme word in a 2 + 1 length pattern, which phonologically consists of a single super foot that makes the expression catchy and appealing. The highly productive AB-C internal structure makes -码 -ma “-code”, although not yet a fully grammaticalized affix, a strong pseudo-suffix that has high morphological productivity with a fixed suffix positioning. Given the high frequency of the lexical 码 ma “code” in contemporary Chinese language use, the pseudo-suffix -码 -ma “-code” may, however, not completely replace it in the long run, as principles of grammaticalization theories predict. Instead, it is likely that both the lexical 码ma “code” and the pseudo-suffix -码 -ma “-code” will coexist side by side along split pathways. Full article

Background: Attachment theory represents one of the most important references for the study of the development of an individual throughout their life cycle and provides the clinician with a profound key for the purposes of understanding the suffering that underlies severe psychopathologies such as eating disorders. As such, we conducted a cross-sectional study with a mixed-methods analysis on a sample of 32 young women with anorexia nervosa (AN); this study was embedded in the utilized theoretical framework with the following aims: 1. to evaluate the state of mind (SoM) in relation to adult attachment, assuming a prevalence of the dismissing (DS) SoM and 2. to analyze the linguistic attachment profile emerging from the transcripts of the AAIs. Methods: Interviews were transcribed verbatim, coded, and analyzed using the linguistic inquiry and word count (LIWC) method. Results: The results were observed to be consistent with the referenced literature. The prevalence of a DS SoM (68.75%) is observed in the study sample, whereas the results of the lexical analysis of the stories deviate from expectations. Notably, the lexical results indicate the coexistence of the dismissing and entangled aspects at the representational level. Conclusions: The study results suggest a high level of specificity in the emotional functioning of patients with AN, with a focusing on a pervasive control of emotions that is well illustrated by the avoidant/ambivalent (A/C) strategy described in Crittenden’s dynamic–maturational model. These findings and considerations have important implications for clinical work and treatment, which we believe must be structured on the basis of starting from a reappraisal of emotional content.
