Anthocyanins, a subclass of flavonoid pigments, impart vivid red, purple, and blue coloration to horticultural plants, playing essential roles in ornamental enhancement, stress resistance, and pollinator attraction. Recent studies have identified B-box (BBX) proteins as a critical class of transcription factors (TFs) involved in anthocyanin biosynthesis. Despite these advances, comprehensive reviews systematically addressing BBX proteins are urgently needed, especially given the complexity and diversity of their roles in regulating anthocyanin production. In this paper, we provide an in-depth overview of the fundamental structures, biological functions, and classification of BBX TFs, along with a detailed description of anthocyanin biosynthetic pathways and bioactivities. Furthermore, we emphasize the diverse molecular mechanisms through which BBX TFs regulate anthocyanin accumulation, including direct activation or repression of target genes, indirect modulation via interacting protein complexes, and co-regulation with other transcriptional regulators. Additionally, we summarize the known upstream regulatory signals and downstream target genes of BBX TFs, highlighting their significance in shaping anthocyanin biosynthesis pathways. Understanding these regulatory networks mediated by BBX proteins will not only advance fundamental horticultural science but also provide valuable insights for enhancing the aesthetic quality, nutritional benefits, and stress adaptability of horticultural crops. Minimally invasive cosmetic procedures, such as dermal fillers, botulinum toxin injections, autologous fat grafting, intense pulsed light (IPL) treatments, and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatments, are increasingly popular worldwide due to their convenience and aesthetic benefits. While generally considered safe, these procedures can result in rare but serious ophthalmological complications. The most catastrophic adverse events include central retinal artery occlusion and ischemic optic neuropathy, which may lead to irreversible vision loss. Other complications include diplopia, ptosis, dry eye, and orbital cellulitis, with varying degrees of severity and reversibility. Awareness of potential ocular risks, appropriate patient selection, and adherence to safe injection techniques are crucial for preventing complications. This narrative review summarizes the incidence, mechanisms, clinical features, risk factors, diagnostic approaches, and management strategies of ocular complications associated with aesthetic medical procedures. A narrative literature review was conducted, emphasizing data from clinical studies, case series, and expert consensus published between 2015 and 2025. Special attention is given to anatomical danger zones, the pathophysiological pathways of filler embolization, and the roles of hyaluronidase and hyperbaric oxygen therapy in acute management. Although many complications are self-limited or reversible, prompt recognition and intervention are critical to prevent permanent sequelae. The increasing prevalence of these procedures demands enhanced education, informed consent, and interdisciplinary collaboration between aesthetic providers and ophthalmologists. Full article

Background/Objectives: “Ozempic face” is an aesthetic side effect associated with the use of the antidiabetic agent Ozempic (semaglutide), characterized by a prematurely aged and fatigued facial appearance due to rapid weight loss. Currently, treatment options for this condition are limited. In this study, we present our clinical experience with the BodyTite device, provided by InMode Italy S.r.l. (Rome, Italy). Materials and Methods: We report a case series involving 24 patients (19 women and 5 men, aged 27–65 years), treated with subdermal bipolar radiofrequency (Endotissutal Bipolar Radiofrequency) between 2023 and 2024. All patients underwent a minimum follow-up of 12 months. At the end of the follow-up period, patients rated their satisfaction on a from 0 to 10 scale, and an independent expert assessed the stability of clinical outcomes. Results: The majority of patients reported high satisfaction levels (≥8), which correlated with the independent expert’s evaluation of treatment efficacy and result stability. The only observed adverse event was transient cutaneous erythema. Conclusions: “Ozempic face” is an increasingly common side effect associated with newer classes of antidiabetic medications. Although these drugs offer significant metabolic benefits, the accompanying facial volume loss and aging are often poorly tolerated by patients. Our findings suggest that subdermal bipolar radiofrequency represents a safe, low-risk, and cost-effective therapeutic option for the aesthetic management of Ozempic face. Full article

Urban wetlands are increasingly recognized for their ecological and cultural benefits, yet remain underutilized due to limited public awareness and environmental literacy. This study investigates how visitors’ perceptions of wetland ecosystem services influence their motivations to engage with a constructed wetland in Putrajaya, Malaysia. By integrating the ecosystem services framework with push-pull motivation theory, the research aims to bridge knowledge gaps and inform sustainable wetland tourism planning. A structured questionnaire was administered to 420 visitors, with 385 valid responses (response rate: 91.7%). Data were analyzed using non-parametric tests (Kruskal–Wallis, Spearman correlation) and multiple regression analysis. Results show that cultural and regulating services are perceived most positively, while emotional restoration and aesthetic appreciation emerged as key motivational drivers. Regression findings reveal that push factors are stronger predictors of ecosystem service engagement than pull factors. These insights highlight the importance of emotional and psychological connections to nature, offering practical implications for urban wetland management, visitor education and environmental communication strategies. Background and Clinical Significance: Breast reconstruction following mastectomy is a critical aspect of treatment for many patients, offering both physical and psychological benefits. Traditional methods include autologous tissue flaps and implants, with implant-based techniques being the most prevalent in the Western world. However, complications such as capsular contracture remain a concern. Acellular dermal matrices (ADM) have emerged as a valuable alternative, improving outcomes by reducing capsular contracture rates and enhancing tissue integration. Case Presentation: This case report presents the first use of a novel ADM, biocade® (biotrics bioimplants AG, Berlin, Germany) in breast reconstruction following a mastectomy. A 55-year-old female patient underwent a left-sided nipple-sparing mastectomy, followed by prepectoral direct-to-implant reconstruction using an ADM-wrapped implant. The patient tolerated the procedure well, with no immediate complications observed. Postoperative monitoring focused on wound healing and assessing for signs of complications related to the implant. The use of the ADM resulted into satisfactory aesthetic and functional outcomes. Conclusions: The successful outcome of this case highlights the potential benefits of using collagen matrices in breast reconstruction, particularly in preserving mastectomy scenarios. The immediate results and improved aesthetics offered by prepectoral direct-to-implant reconstruction with ADM align well with patient expectations for a more natural appearance and faster recovery. However, this case report also highlights the need for ongoing research to fully explore the potential of these biomaterials and address associated challenges. Full article

Background: Early caries management is essential to enable reversal of white spot lesions without the further need for operative interventions, especially in primary dentition. Silver-based compounds can be quite effective in arresting caries lesions; however, a major drawback is teeth staining. This study aimed to evaluate the remineralization potential and aesthetic effects of novel, green-synthesized nano-silver fluoride (NSF) on artificial white spot lesions in primary teeth in comparison to 38% silver diamine fluoride (SDF) and silver diamine fluoride/potassium iodide (SDF/KI). Materials and Methods: NSF was synthesized using green tea extract. Sixty primary teeth specimens with artificial enamel lesions were randomly divided into five groups depending on the applied material: 38% SDF, 38% SDF/KI, single and double application of NSF, and control group. Treatments were followed by pH cycling. Surface microhardness and photographic analysis were conducted to assess remineralization and staining. Statistical analysis was conducted using non-parametric tests including Kruskal–Wallis and Mann–Whitney U tests with Bonferroni correction. Results: The greatest increase in microhardness was observed in the group receiving double NSF application. Its remineralizing potential was comparable to that of 38% SDF/KI, with no statistically significant difference (p = 1.000). Importantly, NSF-treated samples exhibited no teeth discoloration, unlike the black staining observed in SDF and SDF/KI groups. Conclusions: Green-synthesized NSF is a promising alternative to conventional SDF and SDF/KI, offering remineralization benefits without compromising aesthetics. The eco-friendly formulation and non-staining properties support its potential for clinical use in pediatric dentistry. Full article

Background and Objectives: Orthodontic treatment, whether fixed or removable, offers several benefits, including improved aesthetics, enhanced oral function, and increased self-confidence. However, it may also cause discomfort and pain, particularly following adjustment visits. This study aimed to assess pain characteristics (latency and continuity), food impairment, weight loss, and analgesic use in relation to treatment duration and appliance type. Methods: This observational study included 160 orthodontic patients who completed a structured questionnaire comprising 13 single-choice items. The questionnaire assessed age, gender, residential environment, educational status, type and duration of orthodontic treatment, pain characteristics (duration, latency, continuity), food impairment, and analgesic use. Inclusion criteria specified patients with moderate anterior crowding undergoing fixed orthodontic treatment or treatment with clear aligners on both arches, for at least one month. All fixed appliance cases involved 0.022-inch-slot Roth prescription brackets. Results: Patients undergoing fixed orthodontic treatment reported a higher frequency of pain (91.4%), greater need for analgesics (95.2%), and more food impairment compared to those with clear aligners. Patients treated for less than 6 months more frequently reported pain lasting 1 week (57.1%), while those treated for 1–2 years more commonly reported pain lasting several days (43.8%). Conclusions: Fixed orthodontic appliances are associated with greater discomfort, longer pain latency, more frequent analgesic use, and higher dietary impact compared to clear aligners. These findings emphasize the importance of personalized patient counseling and proactive pain management to improve compliance, enhance quality of life, and support informed decision-making in orthodontic care. Background/Objectives: The gold standard of treatment for both melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancers is wide surgical resection to obtain oncological radicality, which occasionally results in functional or aesthetic impairment, potentially affecting quality of life. Despite the increased complexity of the technique, extended duration of hospitalization, and prolonged surgical operative times, microsurgery can facilitate the reconstruction of locally invasive skin cancers following ablative surgery and may yield superior functional and aesthetic outcomes. Consequently, microsurgical reconstruction is more likely to be necessary if a large skin tumor requires excision. However, the impact of this extensive and complex procedure on patients with skin cancer has not yet been fully elucidated. The objective of this research was to critically analyze the utilization of free flap reconstruction subsequent to skin cancer therapy. Through a comprehensive examination of published data, this study aimed to assess the potential benefits and drawbacks associated with this reconstructive approach. Methods: A systematic review of studies that were published from January 2004 to May 2024 was conducted using the MEDLINE online database search. To present an evidence summary and provide a systematic approach and quality assessment, the GRADE® rating was applied to the results. Results: This review summarizes the oncological and clinical data, including previous interventions, adjuvant and neoadjuvant therapies, nodal status, distant metastasis, and follow-up time. Surgical outcome parameters such as healing time, flap survival, revision rate success, and minor and major complications were documented. Along with the findings, a quality assessment of the studies was also provided. Conclusions: This systematic review underscores the extensive use and efficacy of microsurgery for reconstruction after skin cancer excision; however, the literature remains limited by inconsistent reporting of oncological outcomes and the lack of a standardized approach to evaluate the impact of free flap reconstruction on both immediate and long-term cancer-specific results. Background: Scar formation and impaired wound healing represent significant challenges in dermatology and aesthetic medicine, with limited effective treatment options currently available. Objectives: To evaluate the efficacy and long-term outcomes of Damask rose stem-cell-derived exosome (RSCE) therapy in the management of diverse dermatological conditions, including traumatic wounds, surgical scars, and atrophic acne scars. Methods: We conducted a case series study from June 2023 to November 2024, documenting four cases with different types of skin damage treated with lyophilized RSCE products. Treatment protocols included a variety of delivery methods such as topical application, microneedling, and post-procedure care. Follow-up assessments were performed at intervals ranging from 7 days to 10 months. Results: All patients demonstrated significant improvements in scar appearance, skin elasticity, hydration, and overall tissue quality. In traumatic facial injury, RSCE therapy facilitated reduction in scar contracture and improved functional outcomes. For atrophic acne scars, comparative treatment of facial sides showed enhanced results with RSCE addition. Acute wounds exhibited accelerated healing with reduced inflammation, while chronic wounds demonstrated improved epithelialization and long-term scar quality. Conclusions: This case series provides preliminary evidence suggesting that RSCE therapy may offer significant benefits in wound healing and scar management. The observed improvements in tissue regeneration, inflammatory modulation, and long-term aesthetic outcomes warrant further investigation through controlled clinical trials. Full article

Wetlands in northeastern Algeria’s Numidia region provide vital ecosystem services, yet their cultural and intangible values (e.g., spiritual or aesthetic benefits) remain under-recognized in policy and practice. This study explores how gender, education, occupation, and wetland protection status influence local perceptions of provisioning, regulating, and cultural ecosystem services. Based on surveys (n = 552) across 12 wetland communities, results show that women place greater importance on cultural services, while those with higher education display more ecological awareness but less connection to traditional practices. Occupation and residence in protected areas also significantly shape valuation. These findings highlight the need for inclusive conservation strategies that integrate gender perspectives and local knowledge, promoting community-driven stewardship. This research supports more equitable and resilient environmental governance. Full article

Although linear overproduction and overconsumption have benefited businesses, they have created an unsustainable society. Converting wood waste into construction material can support the transition to a circular economy. The mechanical properties of beams constructed from wood waste were measured. Squares with 50, 60, and 70 mm side lengths were glued to create beams, to which the three-point test method was applied parallel to the fibres. The stiffness and moduli of elasticity and rupture were analysed with standard industrial statistical techniques. Specifically, a two-stage analysis was performed using the normal distribution and Shewhart control charts. Changes of 100 mm in width and height and 200 mm in length caused a change of 200–400 N/mm2 in elasticity and 500–1300 MNmm2 in stiffness. Modulus of rupture values were relatively comparable, as they were determined by the properties of oak wood, from which the beams were made. The observed differences in the tested mechanical parameters will be useful in the optimisation of furniture construction, with our research suggesting that it is possible to predict mechanical properties from the dimensions of the waste-wood pieces. Ultimately, this should help to design sustainable furniture that is aesthetic, functional, and safe. Full article

Background and Clinical Significance: Prosthetic rehabilitation in the aesthetic zone of periodontally compromised patients presents a complex clinical challenge, requiring a careful coordination of aesthetic, functional, and biological demands. This case highlights the benefits of digital dentistry, interdisciplinary collaboration, and regular maintenance in achieving long-term success in complex rehabilitations of periodontally compromised patients. Case Presentation: This case report describes the digital minimally invasive rehabilitation of a 39-year-old male patient with Stage III periodontitis, occlusal discrepancies, tooth mobility, and an interincisal diastema. A fully digital workflow—including intraoral scanning, aesthetic previewing, and mandibular motion analysis—was employed to guide diagnosis, treatment planning, and prosthetic execution. Conservative tooth preparations using a biologically oriented approach (BOPT) were combined with customised provisional restorations to support soft tissue conditioning and functional control throughout the provisional phases. Mandibular motion tracking facilitated the design of a personalised anterior guidance to improve occlusion and correct the deep bite. The interincisal diastema was initially maintained then closed during the advanced phase of treatment based on aesthetic simulations and patient preference. One unplanned endodontic treatment was required during the provisional phase, but no other complications occurred. Conclusions: At the four-year follow-up, the patient demonstrated stable periodontal and occlusal conditions, improved clinical indices, and high satisfaction with the aesthetic outcome. Full article

Video-Assisted Mastectomy with Immediate Breast Reconstruction: First Clinical Experience and Outcomes in an Eastern European Medical Center

Background/Objectives: The aim of this case series is to evaluate the outcomes and safety of video-assisted mastectomy, illustrating the harmonious collaboration of oncologic and plastic surgery. This novel minimally invasive technique allows immediate prosthetic reconstruction and represents a cost-effective alternative to robotic breast surgery. Methods: Video-assisted, single-port nipple-sparing mastectomies were performed in patients with small to medium-sized breasts, followed by immediate direct-to-implant reconstruction with either prepectoral or dual plane implant placement. The patients’ electronic medical records were analyzed, including demographic characteristics, operative times and histopathology reports. Results: A total of 18 patients underwent successful video-assisted mastectomy, without conversion to traditional open procedure. Fifteen of the operations were risk-reducing mastectomies. Twelve patients had complementary procedures performed concurrently on the previously operated contralateral breast (delayed reconstruction/expander-to-implant exchange). Moreover, three patients benefited from additional minimally invasive techniques during the same surgery (prophylactic laparoscopic hysterectomy). Immediate breast reconstruction with polyurethane or microtextured breast implants up to 450 cc was performed, with satisfactory aesthetic outcomes and no cancer recurrences at 6 to 12 months postoperative follow-up. Early complications included transient hypercapnia, areolar congestion and cellulitis. No skin necrosis or implant-related complications were reported. The most frequently encountered late issues were contour irregularities. Conclusions: Video-assisted mastectomy facilitates the safe removal of proven pathologic or healthy breast tissue with minimal damage to the breast’s skin envelope, facilitating single-stage breast reconstruction. Background: Incomplete eyelid closure and lagophthalmos due to facial nerve palsy are significant functional and aesthetic concerns often requiring surgical correction. The aim of this systematic review is to quantitatively assess the efficacy, safety, and patient satisfaction associated with gold or platinum weight implantation, autologous fat grafting (lipofilling), and müllerectomy. Methods: A systematic review was performed following PRISMA guidelines, searching PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, and Scopus up to March 2025. Studies included clinical data on surgical correction for incomplete eyelid closure in facial palsy, reporting functional, anatomical, and satisfaction outcomes. Quality was assessed using the Newcastle–Ottawa Scale (NOS) and the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development, and Evaluation (GRADE) system. Results: Twenty-six studies including a total of 1205 patients were included. Gold/platinum weight implantation achieved complete or near-complete eyelid closure in 83–92% of cases, with a reduction in lagophthalmos to <1 mm. Complication rates ranged from 5–15% (mainly extrusion/migration), and patient satisfaction averaged 7.9/10. Lipofilling showed persistent benefit in 77% of cases, with 9–20% requiring repeat procedures and 10–12% experiencing minor complications. Müllerectomy yielded symptomatic improvement or resolution in 92% of cases, with a mean lagophthalmos reduction of 1.18 mm. Conclusions: Gold or platinum weight implantation provides the most reliable improvement for severe upper eyelid dysfunction in facial palsy. Lipofilling is a viable autologous alternative, while müllerectomy is effective in selected cases. Further prospective comparative trials are needed to refine surgical selection and optimize outcomes. Full article

The development of retail stores is determined by many factors, including the availability of retail space. The construction of a new building requires time, resources, and permits. This article aims to examine the possibilities of implementing small modular retail facilities built on the principles of vending machines, which do not require constant service and social space, by examining important groups of factors: architectural and structural, production, environmental, and costs. A vending machine in modular construction technology provides new opportunities for the development of a retail network in previously inaccessible places. The research presented in this article was conducted based on a literature review and interviews with experts, on the basis of which, using the network thinking methodology, critical factors were isolated and analysed in detail. The research results show the benefits of using modular technology, meeting the assumptions of the circular economy in terms of reducing the carbon footprint and improving the construction stage and investment costs, while taking into account the aesthetics of the surroundings. The results can contribute to the popularisation of the use of modular facilities, which can complement the development of downtown areas, making cities more sustainable. Full article
