This study examines the determinants of environmentally responsible behavior among tourists in the heritage villages of Paveh County, Iran, through an integrated theoretical framework that synthesizes place-related psychological constructs with the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB). Employing structural equation modeling on data collected from 443 tourists across three heritage villages (July–November 2024), the investigation tested comparative theoretical models with differing explanatory capacities. The baseline TPB model confirmed significant positive effects of environmental attitudes (β = 0.388), environmental norms (β = 0.398), and perceived behavioral control (β = 0.547) on behavioral intentions, which subsequently influenced environmental behavior (β = 0.561). The extended model incorporating place-related variables demonstrated enhanced explanatory power, with the R2 values increasing from 48.2% to 52.7% for behavioral intentions and from 49.2% to 54.7% for actual behavior. Notably, place identity exhibited dual psychological functions: moderating the intention–behavior relationship (β = 0.155) and mediating between place attachment and environmental behavior (β = 0.163). These findings advance sustainable tourism theory by illuminating the complex pathways through which place-based psychological connections influence environmental behavior formation in heritage contexts, suggesting that more sophisticated theoretical frameworks are required for understanding and promoting sustainable practices in culturally significant destinations. This study investigates how young Chinese consumers across generational lines engage with wine, addressing three key research questions: What motivates their wine purchases? What sensory preferences do they exhibit? And through which channels do they prefer to buy wine? Based on a qualitative design combining focus groups and semi-structured interviews, the study identifies significant generational differences between millennials and post-millennials. Millennials treat wine as a social tool for networking and status, while post-millennials view wine as a medium of personal identity shaped by digital culture. Similarly, millennials prefer a balance of traditional and digital retail, whereas post-millennials favour online platforms. Experiential consumption follows the same pattern, from formal tourism to virtual tastings. By linking these findings to institutional and cultural theories of consumer behaviour, the study contributes to a nuanced understanding of wine consumption in an emerging market. It provides practical implications for wine marketers aiming to localize their strategies for younger Chinese segments. Full article

This study investigates how remote multiplayer gameplay, enabled through Augmented Reality (AR), transforms spatial decision-making and enhances player experience in a location-based augmented reality game (LBARG). A remote multiplayer handheld-based AR game was designed and evaluated on how it influences players’ spatial decision-making strategies, engagement, and gameplay experience. In a user study involving 60 participants, we compared remote gameplay in our AR game with traditional hide-and-seek. We found that AR significantly transforms traditional gameplay by introducing different spatial interactions, which enhanced spatial decision-making and collaboration. Our results also highlight the potential of AR to increase player engagement and social interaction, despite the challenges posed by the added navigation complexities. These findings contribute to the engaging design of future AR games and beyond. Full article

This paper creates a global similarity network between city-level dialects of English in order to determine whether external factors like the amount of population contact or language contact influence dialect similarity. While previous computational work has focused on external influences that contribute to phonological or lexical similarity, this paper focuses on grammatical variation as operationalized in computational construction grammar. Social media data was used to create comparable English corpora from 256 cities across 13 countries. Each sample is represented using the type frequency of various constructions. These frequency representations are then used to calculate pairwise similarities between city-level dialects; a prediction-based evaluation shows that these similarity values are highly accurate. Linguistic similarity is then compared with four external factors: (i) the amount of air travel between cities, a proxy for population contact, (ii) the difference in the linguistic landscapes of each city, a proxy for language contact, (iii) the geographic distance between cities, and (iv) the presence of political boundaries separating cities. The results show that, while all these factors are significant, the best model relies on language contact and geographic distance. Full article

(1) Background: Wetlands are ecologically significant ecosystems that support biodiversity and contribute to essential environmental functions such as water purification, carbon storage and flood regulation. However, these ecosystems face increasing pressures from land-use change and degradation, prompting the need for scalable and accurate classification methods to support conservation and policy efforts. In this research, our motivation was to test whether high-spatial-resolution PlanetScope imagery can be used with pixel-based machine learning to support the mapping and monitoring of wetlands at a national scale. (2) Methods: This study compared four machine learning classification models—Random Forest (RF), XGBoost (XGB), Histogram-Based Gradient Boosting (HGB) and a Multi-Layer Perceptron Classifier (MLPC)—to detect and map wetland areas across New Zealand. All models were trained using eight-band SuperDove satellite imagery from PlanetScope, with a spatial resolution of ~3 m, and ancillary geospatial datasets representing topography and soil drainage characteristics, each of which is available globally. (3) Results: All four machine learning models performed well in detecting wetlands from SuperDove imagery and environmental covariates, with varying strengths. The highest accuracy was achieved using all eight image bands alongside features created from supporting geospatial data. For binary wetland classification, the highest F1 scores were recorded by XGB (0.73) and RF/HGB (both 0.72) when including all covariates. MLPC also showed competitive performance (wetland F1 score of 0.71), despite its relatively lower spatial consistency. However, each model over-predicts total wetland area at a national level, an issue which was able to be reduced by increasing the classification probability threshold and spatial filtering. (4) Conclusions: The comparative analysis highlights the strengths and trade-offs of RF, XGB, HGB and MLPC models for wetland classification. While all four methods are viable, RF offers some key advantages, including ease of deployment and transferability, positioning it as a promising candidate for scalable, high-resolution wetland monitoring across diverse ecological settings. Further work is required for verification of small-scale wetlands (<~0.5 ha) and the addition of fine-spatial-scale covariates. Full article

The ongoing genetic erosion of natural Prunus armeniaca populations in their native habitats underscores the urgent need for targeted conservation and restoration strategies. This study provides the first comprehensive characterization of P. armeniaca populations in the Almaty region of Kazakhstan, integrating morphological descriptors (46 parameters), molecular markers, geobotanical, and remote sensing analyses. Geobotanical and remote sensing analyses enhanced understanding of accession distribution, geological features, and ecosystem health across sites, while also revealing their vulnerability to various biotic and abiotic threats. Of 111 morphologically classified accessions, 54 were analyzed with 13 simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers and four DNA barcoding regions. Our findings demonstrate the necessity of integrated morphological and molecular analyses to differentiate closely related accessions. Genetic analysis identified 11 distinct populations with high heterozygosity and substantial genetic variability. Eight populations exhibited 100% polymorphism, indicating their potential as sources of adaptive genetic diversity. Cluster analysis grouped populations into three geographic clusters, suggesting limited gene flow across Gorges (features of a mountainous landscape) and greater connectivity within them. These findings underscore the need for site-specific conservation strategies, especially for genetically distinct, isolated populations with unique allelic profiles. This study provides a valuable foundation for prioritizing conservation targets, confirming genetic redundancies, and preserving genetic uniqueness to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the future conservation and use of P. armeniaca genetic resources in the region. Globally, construction is among the leading sectors causing carbon emissions. Sustainable practices have become the focus, which aligns with the nation’s commitments to the Paris Agreement by targeting a 30% reduction in emissions from the 2005 levels by 2030. However, evaluation for sustainability is critical, and the Green Star certification provides assurance. Building information modelling has emerged as a transformative technology, integrating environmental sustainability into building design and construction. This study explores the use of BIM to enhance green building outcomes, focusing on optimising stakeholder engagement, energy efficiency, waste control, and environmentally sustainable design. This study employed a case study of an educational building, illustrating how BIM frameworks support Green Star certifications by streamlining design analysis, enhancing project value, and improving compliance with sustainability metrics. Findings highlight BIM’s role in advancing low-carbon, energy-efficient building designs while fostering collaboration across disciplines. This research investigates the foundational approach required to establish a framework for implementing the Green Star certification in non-residential, environmentally sustainable designs. Further, this study underscores the importance of integrating BIM in achieving Green Star benchmarks and provides a roadmap for leveraging digital modelling to meet global sustainability goals. Recommendations include expanding BIM capabilities to support broader environmental assessments and operational efficiencies. Full article

Although PLA is an attractive biodegradable polymer, its degradation under natural conditions is often slow. This study investigates whether incorporating pounamu (New Zealand jade) particles into PLA can enhance its biodegradation rate under composting conditions at room temperature. PLA composites containing 0 to 15 wt% pounamu were fabricated using both compression molding and 3D printing. A simple, reproducible protocol based on residual mass measurement was developed to monitor the biodegradation process over a 12-month period. The results showed that increasing pounamu content consistently accelerated mass loss of the composite in the compost, indicating enhanced biodegradation. The 3D-printed samples degraded more rapidly than compression-molded ones. This was attributed to the layered structure, internal microcavities, and lower crystallinity of the 3D-printed samples, which provided greater surface area and accessibility for microbial activity. These findings highlight the dual role of pounamu as both a crystallization promoter and a facilitator of biodegradation and underscore the importance of the processing method when designing biodegradable polymer composites for real-world applications. Understanding the effectiveness of suicide prevention measures for high-risk locations can often be challenging as many rely, at least to some degree, on psychological processes (e.g., engaging with help-seeking behaviours). Establishing how these measures may influence decision-making during a suicide attempt could be helpful for understanding how and when they may be most effective at preventing deaths. In the present work, we consider how suicide prevention measures may influence “goal pursuit” as it unfolds. Drawing on findings from across the suicide prevention literature, we apply the descriptive framework outlined in GOAL Architecture to consider how different measures may shape perceptions of “distance”, “time”, and “rate of progress” and, in turn, could influence levels of motivational drive associated with specific acts (e.g., “accessing means for suicide”). This is discussed in relation to real-time decisions around accessing means for suicide, avoiding intervention by a third party, and engaging in help-seeking behaviours. As well as the psychological processes that could encourage or prevent an individual from disengaging from a suicide attempt, we also consider potential risks and the influence of person-level factors. Many kinds of panel structures are proposed in aircraft design. This study presents a topology optimization method to improve the buckling resistance of panel structures. It should be noted that a popular configuration of the present panel structure is that with ribs and frames. Stiffening characteristics (i.e., effects of increasing structural stiffness of a panel structure with ribs and frames) are thus included during analysis of panel structures. After studying the coupling relationship between the dynamic characteristics and buckling behavior of the panel, a developed MMC (moving morphable component) method is proposed for topology optimization to improve the buckling resistance of the panel. It is seen that the coupling relationship between the dynamic characteristics and buckling behavior of the panel is mainly reflected when the compression force acts on the panel, corresponding that dynamic characteristics will vary with the load. If the load acts on the structure, the first-order natural frequency of the panel with ribs and frames in this study decreases with the increase in the load, with the optimization objective of maximizing the first-order natural frequency. Based on the coupling relationship between dynamic characteristics and buckling behavior, the critical buckling load of the panel increases as the first-order natural frequency increases. The present optimization method can reduce computational complexity without changing the accuracy of the calculation. At the same time, the coupling relationship between dynamic characteristics and buckling behavior is applied in topology optimization, which is of great significance to improve the comprehensive performance of panel structures in the engineering design process. This paper improves the dynamic characteristics and buckling resistance of panels with ribs and frames based on the improved MMC method. The proposed method effectively meets the design requirements of flight vehicle design in complex environments. Full article

Coach development is typically considered to consist of a complex mix of experiences, including formal, informal and non-formal. Elements of the early research in this area led to the production of a model of long-term coach development (LTCD) over a decade ago, consisting of three core categories of experience: athletic, coaching and education, later published in a number of significant coaching documents. Whilst this model has clearly been of benefit in providing a framework to consider long-term coach development, it can also be considered to have its limitations in focusing on a somewhat narrow coaching context (typically Olympic sports in North America) and lacking currency. This study therefore attempted to consider and update this model to a professional team sport context away from North America by investigating the life stories of head coaches in English rugby league. Data collection consisted of a novel life story approach, whilst analysis utilised elements of constructivist grounded theory. Though supporting elements of the original LTCD model, results here provide an additional category of experience occurring prior to athletic experience, childhood, consisting of a number of sub-themes, alongside several other novel elements with implications for both research and practice. This work points towards a need to further understand coaches’ lifelong developmental journeys across a range of sports and contexts. Full article

Background/Objectives: Embryo selection in IVF is traditionally based on morphology, yet many high-quality embryos fail to implant. Preimplantation genetic testing for aneuploidy (PGT-A) using next-generation sequencing (NGS) has been proposed to improve selection by identifying euploid embryos. However, its effectiveness in women of advanced maternal age remains unclear due to limited randomized data. This pilot trial assessed the feasibility of a full-scale RCT comparing PGT-A to morphology-based selection in women aged 35–42. Methods: This single-centre, two-arm parallel RCT (NCT05009745) enrolled women aged 35–42 undergoing IVF/ICSI with ≥3 good-quality day-3 embryos. Participants were randomized (1:1) to either embryo selection by morphology with fresh transfer or PGT-A with frozen transfer of a single euploid embryo. Allocation concealment was achieved via a secure web-based randomization platform; patients and clinicians were unblinded, but the biostatistician remained blinded. The primary outcome was feasibility of recruitment, randomization, and adherence. Results: Between June 2021 and January 2023, 138 women consented (recruitment rate: 55.8%, 95% CI: 49.7–62.0%) and 100 were randomized. Protocol adherence was 94%. Barriers to recruitment included preference for private PGT-A (19%) or fresh transfer (6%). Among biopsied embryos, 51.4% were euploid and 6.6% low-level mosaic. Intention-to-treat analysis showed no significant differences between PGT-A and control groups in clinical pregnancy rate (50% vs. 40%), live birth rate (50% vs. 38%), or miscarriage rate (12% vs. 8%). Cumulative live birth rate after up to three SETs was 72% vs. 52%, respectively (p > 0.05). No multiple pregnancies occurred. Conclusions: RCTs of PGT-A in older women are feasible. A multicentre design with broader inclusion criteria could improve recruitment and allow better assessment of clinical benefit. Full article

Three-dimensional (3D) concrete printing (3DCP) has gained significant attention over the last decade due to its many claimed benefits. The absence of effective real-time quality control mechanisms, however, can lead to inconsistencies in extrusion, compromising the integrity of 3D-printed structures. Although the importance of quality control in 3DCP is broadly acknowledged, research lacks systematic methods. This research investigates the feasibility of using ultrasonic pulse velocity (UPV) as a practical, in situ, real-time monitoring tool for 3DCP. Two different groups of binders were investigated: limestone calcined clay (LC3) and zeolite-based mixes in binary and ternary blends. Filaments of 200 mm were extruded every 5 min, and UPV, pocket hand vane, flow table, and viscometer tests were performed to measure pulse velocity, shear strength, relative deformation, yield stress, and plastic viscosity, respectively, in the fresh state. Once the filaments presented printing defects (e.g., filament tearing, filament width reduction), the tests were concluded, and the open time was recorded. Isothermal calorimetry tests were conducted to obtain the initial heat release and reactivity of the supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs). Results showed a strong correlation (R2 = 0.93) between UPV and initial heat release, indicating that early hydration (ettringite formation) influenced UPV and determined printability across different mixes. No correlation was observed between the other tests and hydration kinetics. UPV demonstrated potential as a real-time monitoring tool, provided the mix-specific pulse velocity is established beforehand. Further research is needed to evaluate UPV performance during active printing when there is an active flow through the printer. Full article

A Temporal Comparison of 50 Years of Australian Scuba Diving Fatalities

Australian scuba fatalities over 50 years were examined to determine temporal changes over two consecutive periods, 1972–1999 and 2000–2021. The Australasian Diving Safety Foundation database and National Coronial Information System were searched to identify scuba deaths from 1972 to 2021. Historical data, police and witness reports, and autopsies were recorded and comparisons made between the two periods. Of 430 total deaths, 236 occurred during 1972–1999 and 194 during 2000–2021, with average annual fatalities of 8.4 and 8.8, respectively. The proportion of males reduced (83% to 76%) and median ages rose (33 to 47 years) with a large rise in the percentage of casualties among people aged 45 years or older (24% to 57%). There were increases in certified divers (64% to 81%) and in the proportion of divers who were with a buddy at the time of their incident (17% to 27%), as well as a decrease in out-of-gas incidents (30% to 25%). A reduction in primary drowning (47% to 36%) was accompanied by more than a doubling of cardiac-related disabling conditions (12% to 26%). The substantial increase in casualties’ ages and of the proportions of casualties aged 45 or more and of females between the periods indicate the inclusion of a broader cohort of participants and ageing of longtime divers. The reduction in primary drowning was likely due to increased training and improvements in equipment, particularly BCDs and pressure gauges. The rise in cardiac-related deaths was due to an older and more obese cohort. Improved health education and surveillance and improved dive planning are essential to reduce such deaths. Full article

Opto-electronic plethysmography (OEP) is used to measure chest wall compartment volumes and their synchronisation. Breathing pattern disorder (BPD) can be distinguished using the phase angles between these chest wall compartments during exercise. However, the time taken to manually place the standard OEP model involving 89 reflective markers is high during clinical application. The purpose of this study was to investigate the use of a pre-markered T-shirt instead of markers applied directly to the skin at rest, during different exercise intensities and recovery. Thirty-nine healthy participants (24 male, 15 female) aged 18–40 years performed an incremental cycling test with the skin-mounted OEP marker set. Participants then repeated the same cycling test with a pre-markered T-shirt. Across all test conditions, the T-shirt showed a strong level of agreement (Intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) ≥ 0.9) with the standard breath-by-breath (BbB) gas analyser. Moreover, ICC values exceeded 0.8 for compartment contributions across all test conditions, indicating excellent agreement with the skin-mounted markers. The phase angles between compartments showed the best agreement during the moderate exercise level (0.6 < ICC < 0.8). In conclusion, the pre-markered T-shirt presents a viable solution for the quick monitoring of breathing patterns, as well as an effective tool in diagnosing BPD during exercise. Full article
