Dear colleagues,

It is an honor for us to host this webinar, titled “Onco-Surgical Approach to Peritoneal Malignancies—When, How, and to Whom?” on behalf of the Medicina journal.

This webinar aims to offer a comprehensive overview of surgical procedures intended to cure both primary peritoneal malignancies and peritoneal metastases (mainly from ovarian and digestive cancers). These patients require a multidisciplinary approach to significantly prolong their lives, and experienced surgeons and oncologists will join this meeting to discuss updates in the onco-surgical management of these patients. Beyond current therapeutic standards, the speakers will present updated evidence on unresolved issues such as the use of HIPEC, the optimal extent of cytoreductive surgery and its specific indications, and the best time for surgery, with respect to systemic chemotherapy.

This webinar is addressed not only to surgeons and oncologists but also to gastroenterologists, gynecologists, pathologists, and general practitioners due to the recent advances in this field, which have dramatically improved the survival of patients that, until recently, were considered to be candidates for palliative therapy alone.
