Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Wastewater includes domestic sewage, industrial wastewater, agricultural wastewater, etc., which can cause eutrophication and polluted black water, threatening aquatic ecosystems, human health and social economic development. The core contents of this Special Issue focus on the practical challenges in wastewater treatment, which mainly lie in the following aspects: (1) removal of refractory and emerging pollutants; (2) reverse ratio of operating costs and benefits; (3) poor stability of system operation; (4) high risk of "secondary pollution" in treatment; (5) resource recycling, low-carbon pressure and so on. The key lies in technological integration and full-chain governance for promoting interdisciplinary research and methodological innovation and bridging the gap in the "lab-site" transformation process. However, there is still a lack of research on treatment technologies with such applicable prospects. It is worth advocating for the promise of the ecological, economic and social benefits of ecological restoration and its combined technologies, which are of great research significance for water pollution prevention and control as well as the sustainable development of water ecosystems.

All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Water is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
