Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Water is central to the cultural, spiritual, and material well-being of Indigenous peoples worldwide. This Special Issue focuses on Indigenous water knowledge, water sovereignty, and sustainable water management. It welcomes research articles, reviews, and case studies exploring the intersections of Indigenous water knowledge, water governance, water resource management, environmental justice, and climate resilience. Topics include, but are not limited to, Indigenous water rights, the “Water Back” movement, Indigenous-led watershed restoration and reconciliation initiatives, ecosystem services management, technological advances in water treatment, water quality protection and remediation strategies, sustainable water resource planning, and policy frameworks incorporating Indigenous knowledge and perspectives. This Special Issue aims to provide a platform for advancing culturally informed, equitable, and sustainable approaches to water management and governance.
