Section Information

Intelligent Cities and Technology is a dynamic field that focuses on leveraging advanced technologies to enhance urban management, improve the quality of urban life, and promote the sustainable development of cities. It combines the latest technological achievements with urban planning and operation to create more efficient, convenient, and livable urban environments.

In the current digital-driven era, the trend of urban intelligentization is accelerating. Research in this area mainly emphasizes the construction and optimization of intelligent urban infrastructure, such as smart grids, intelligent transportation systems, and intelligent water supply and drainage systems. Additionally, the application and analysis of big data, artificial intelligence, and the Internet of Things in urban scenarios are also key research directions.

This section of the journal is particularly interested in topics related to smart city technologies, including Internet of Things (IoT) applications in urban settings, intelligent transportation and traffic management, smart building technologies, and the use of big data analytics for urban decision-making. We welcome submissions from multiple related fields, such as computer science, information technology, electrical engineering, and urban informatics. Whether it is research on the development and implementation of new intelligent city technologies, or case-study-based evaluations of the effectiveness of existing smart city initiatives, high-quality papers that contribute to the understanding and development of intelligent cities are highly welcome.

This section encourages submissions related to:

  • Smart city governance and policy;
  • Urban Big Data, IoT, and sensor networks;
  • Urban Digital Twins and simulation;
  • Artificial Intelligence (AI) in urban management;
  • Civic technology (Civic Tech) and e-governance;
  • Smart grids and intelligent energy systems;
  • Digital divides, data privacy, and ethical implications.
