Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The current industrial landscape aims to achieve new goals throughout the forthcoming years. With the emergence of Industry 4.0 and related concepts, industrial companies seem to be adopting a new approach to produce fast, customized materials and, simultaneously, addressing the highest quality standards. Furthermore, companies should presently be working to address, at the same time, the requirements from different stakeholders which increase the complexity of an ever turbulent context. Hence, with the emergence of this new superb technological paradigm, a new management approach should be implemented too (or at least the traditional management approach should be dissected and updated). This Special Issue aims to address the challenges faced by the ISO management systems in the context of Industry 4.0 and related concepts such as the Internet of Things (IoT), cyber-physical systems (CPS), cloud computing and robotics, digitalization, digitization, big data, Quality 4.0, and artificial intelligence (AI). Additionally, this Special Issue intends to promote the discussion on which strategies are the most suitable to cope with these new challenges in the scope of the ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 (and others) standards dissecting (as examples) the desirable profile (skills and competencies) of the ISO Management Leader of the 21st Century, the role of the integration phenomenon, knowledge management, the sustainability and innovation concepts, the risk based thinking, the standards diffusion and their relationship with the supply chain management.

Hence, this Special Issue asks for relevant research supported on the soundest research methods and review papers in topics that include but are not limited to the following:

  • Standardized Management Systems
  • Standardized Management Systems Integration
  • Standardized Management Systems and Sustainability
  • Standardized Management Systems and Performance
  • Standardized Management Systems and forthcoming challenges
  • Risk-based Thinking
  • Standardized Management Systems and Supply Chain Management (SCM)
  • ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001, and ISO 22000 in the context of Industry 4.0
  • Information Security within Standardized Management Systems
  • Integrated Management Systems (IMSs) 4.0
  • Quality Management 4.0
  • The Profile of the Management System Team in the 21st Century
  • Standardized Management Systems and Social Responsibility
  • New Tools and Methods to improve IMSs Effectiveness and Efficiency

Thank you so much in advance for your submissions.

Research exploring quality management, knowledge management, and innovations in organizations has received significant attention from academics worldwide, providing different insights. Innovation has been widely seen as an essential organizational performance driver. This study aims to accentuate the importance of quality management and knowledge management and their direct, mediating, and total effect on an organization’s process innovations. The double-reflective second-order construct model was analyzed following the most recent methodology guidelines. Eventually, partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) was used to test the research hypotheses and investigate the relations between the latent factors. The results from 264 Serbian companies that implemented ISO 9001 standard point to quality management’s direct effect on process innovations and knowledge management’s mediating effect on process innovation.
