Special Issue Information
Dear colleagues,
Energy resources are critical to achieving sustainable development of our society during this period of complexity and uncertainty, of rapid population growth and global industrialization. Currently, there are many myths related to the development of the global energy system in the future. It is time to challenge our myths. The main goal of this issue is to expose the myths dealing with development of global energy system.
This issue focuses on providing the reliable information required by the energy community under pressure from the changing energy situation in the world. The main topics up for discussion in submissions include but are not limited to the following:
(1) Global energy demand in the nearest 30-50 years.
(2) Do we really have a shortage of fossil fuel resources?
(3) Fossil fuels: can we turn the unconventional into conventional?
(4) Fossil fuels and renewables: are they competitors or complementors?
(5) Can we really reduce global GHG emissions by 50% by 2050?
This Special Issue aims to publish high-quality research papers on the inter-disciplinary field of different aspects of the global energy system transition. We welcome papers that cover fundamental studies and new technology presentations, as well as experimental and modelling approaches to energy resources in service of society.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Sustainability is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
