Dear Colleagues,
Critical minerals play a fundamental role in supporting the global energy transition and the development of advanced technologies, including renewable energy systems, electric vehicles, energy storage solutions and digital infrastructure. As global demand for these resources continues to increase, ensuring secure, sustainable and resilient supply chains has become a strategic priority for governments, industries and communities worldwide. However, critical mineral supply chains face numerous challenges, including geological uncertainty, operational risks, transportation constraints, market volatility, environmental impacts and evolving social and regulatory expectations.
This Special Issue, "Sustainable and Resilient Critical Mineral Supply Chains: Mine-to-Market Perspectives", aims to advance research and practical solutions that enhance the sustainability, resilience, efficiency and adaptability of critical mineral value chains from resource extraction to market delivery. We welcome original research, review articles and case studies addressing sustainable mining practices, adaptive mine planning, responsible resource development, sustainable transportation systems, supply chain optimization, risk and uncertainty management, digital transformation, artificial intelligence applications, ESG performance assessment and strategies supporting resource security and the energy transition across the mine-to-market critical mineral supply chain.
By bringing together interdisciplinary contributions from academia, industry and policymakers, this Special Issue seeks to foster innovative approaches that strengthen critical mineral supply chains while balancing economic viability, environmental stewardship and social responsibility in support of sustainable development goals.

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Sustainability is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
