Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
We are excited to invite you to contribute to our Special Issue entitled ‘Innovative Approaches to Achieving Carbon Neutrality: Advancements in Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage for a Sustainable Future’. This Special Issue aims to explore cutting-edge advancements in Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) technologies, with a specific focus on their integration with combustion technologies and renewable energy systems.
As the world strives for carbon neutrality, CCUS technologies are emerging as vital components in the quest to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions. This Special Issue will provide a platform for researchers to present innovative strategies and findings related to the development and application of CCUS technologies. We aim to bridge the gap between theory and practice by emphasizing real-world applications and the potential for CCUS technologies to enhance the efficiency of combustion engines, contribute to sustainable hydrogen production, and support renewable energy integration.
We encourage original research articles and reviews addressing the following areas:
- Innovations in CCUS technologies and their applications.
- The role of combustion technologies in enhancing CCUS effectiveness.
- Interactions between CCUS and renewable energy systems.
In this Special Issue, we seek to highlight the interdisciplinary nature of CCUS technology research and its critical role in sustainable development. We invite you to share your insights and contribute to this important dialogue.
Best regards,
Dr. Raouf Mobasheri

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Sustainability is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
