Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Climate change is intensifying the frequency and magnitude of environmental hazards, creating complex risks for societies, economies, and ecosystems. Addressing these challenges requires advancing climate risk management beyond sectoral or disciplinary boundaries, integrating scientific knowledge, innovative governance, and societal engagement. In recent years, the literature on adaptation, disaster risk reduction, and sustainability transitions has grown considerably, yet significant gaps remain in bridging conceptual advances with practical applications and in fostering inclusive and equitable approaches to resilience.
This Special Issue aims to explore how climate risk management can act as a driver of sustainable development. We seek to bring together interdisciplinary perspectives and empirical research that will expand our current understanding of governance, policy, and practice in this area. The Special Issue aligns with the scope of Sustainability by addressing the interconnections between environmental challenges, societal responses, and pathways toward resilient and sustainable futures.
In this Special Issue, original research articles and reviews are welcome. Research areas may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Risk governance and sustainability transitions;
- Participatory and inclusive approaches to climate risk management;
- Policy integration across climate adaptation and disaster risk reduction;
- Environmental justice and equity in climate risk governance;
- Methodological and technological innovations for sustainable risk management;
- Knowledge co-production and science–policy interfaces.
I look forward to receiving your contributions.
