Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

After the successful first edition of the Special Issue "Sustainable Fruit Growing: From Orchard to Table", we are launching the second issue.

Fruit producers and scientists today face greater challenges than ever before, as well as the demands of a society striving for sustainable production. Population growth and changing and improved diets with a higher proportion of fruit consumption have led to the expansion of orchards, but also to the introduction of new technologies that improve yields and fruit quality, often neglecting the principle of sustainability. This Special Issue addresses various aspects that can improve sustainable production, such as the possibility of introducing new fruit species into production, breeding and genetic improvement of cultivars and rootstocks, reducing the environmental stress to which plants and fruits are exposed, deepening the knowledge of the relationship between genotype and environment, propagation of fruit plants, reducing the chemical load on the environment, increasing fruit safety and security, controlling pests and diseases more efficiently, developing new cultivation technologies, and postharvest methods. The results of original research are welcome, and the submission of review papers by leading experts in these fields is also highly encouraged.
