Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Adopting life cycle thinking and using LCA data is becoming popular within different research groups. There are many interesting questions to answer using the variety of tools and methods available in the light of life cycle thinking (see, for example, Blass and Corbett, 2017). Although LCA tools and methods are rooted in the field of industrial ecology, other research groups from different disciplines are interested in using some of these methods and data and combining them with other methods from other disciplines.  The sustainability aspects of production and consumption patterns are studied by a variety of groups from different fields including, for example, industrial ecology, operations management, consumer behavior, geography, innovation, entrepreneurship, public policy, data science, and law.

For this Special Issue, we invite papers that integrate life cycle thinking and LCA data with other research methods to answer important research questions related to production and consumption patterns. We especially encourage submissions from teams with authors from different fields that demonstrate the importance and the enrichment that a multidisciplinary approach can contribute to the studied topic and the rigor of research.

With this Special Issue, we hope to enrich and enlarge the growing body of literature that uses LCA data in addition to other methods (i.e., sustainable operations, sustainable consumption, big data, etc.) in order to explore possible solutions at different levels in questions related to sustainability and patterns in production and consumption systems.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Sustainability is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
