Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The rapid urbanization of the 21st century has placed urban mobility at the heart of the global sustainability agenda. To meet climate targets and ensure social equity, cities need integrated mobility solutions. Technological advancements offer a path toward efficiency, as sustainability can only be achieved by bridging the gap between “smart” innovation and social “inclusion”.
This Special Issue explores the transformative potential of inclusive, sustainable, and smart mobility systems. Moving beyond siloed approaches, we examine how emerging technologies and data-driven management can create low-carbon transportation networks that serve all citizens, particularly vulnerable populations.
We invite original research, comprehensive reviews, and case studies offering interdisciplinary perspectives on the following themes:
- Decarbonization and Green Planning: Low-carbon transportation strategies, electrification of public transit, and the integration of renewable energy into mobility hubs.
- Smart Infrastructure and Data Analytics: AI-driven traffic management, real-time data optimization, and Digital Twins.
- Social Inclusion and Equity: Addressing the digital divide and ensuring accessibility for elderly and disabled citizens, and conducting socioeconomic impact assessments.
- Emerging Mobility Paradigms: Sustainability in Autonomous Vehicles, Micro-mobility, and MaaS.
- Governance and Policy: Regulatory frameworks, public–private partnerships, and evidence-based tools for transitioning toward resilient, multimodal cities.
By linking technological innovation with equity and robust policy design, this Special Issue provides a holistic framework and transferable insights for researchers, policymakers, and planners. We encourage submissions that use quantitative and qualitative methods to monitor progress toward equitable, sustainable, and scientifically grounded urban development.
