Dear Colleagues,
The rapid development of smart technologies and digital innovations is fundamentally transforming the operation of economic, industrial and public administration systems. Achieving the goals of sustainable development requires the application of technological solutions that not only enhance efficiency and competitiveness but also ensure long-term environmental and social responsibility.This Special Issue aims to explore the role of smart technologies in sustainable development, focusing on how emerging technologies—such as artificial intelligence, digital process control, data-driven decision support and Industry 4.0 systems—can contribute to the optimization of economic and administrative processes. The Issue fits within the multidisciplinary scope of Sustainability, emphasizing the interconnection between technological, economic and social dimensions of sustainability.
Original research articles and comprehensive reviews are welcome. Research areas may include, but are not limited to, the following topics:
- Smart technologies and process optimization
- Digitalization and data-driven public administration
- Sustainable industrial and logistics systems
- Artificial intelligence and decision support systems
- Smart cities and green innovation

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Sustainability is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
