Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

In an increasingly interconnected world, the utilization of technology in education has become more crucial than ever. The Special Issue, entitled “Technology-Enhanced Education for Sustainable Development”, explores how digital tools and innovative technologies can be leveraged to enhance the quality, accessibility, and sustainability of education across diverse learning environments. By embracing innovative teaching methods, such as e-learning platforms, AI-driven educational resources, virtual and augmented reality applications, and digital collaboration tools, this Special Issue aims to provide a comprehensive overview of how these advancements contribute to the achievement of sustainable development goals, including equitable access to education, lifelong learning opportunities, and the cultivation of inclusive and resilient learning communities. This Special Issue emphasizes both environmental and socio-economic dimensions of sustainability. On the environmental side, technology can help reduce the ecological footprint of education by minimizing the consumption of physical resources and decreasing travel-related emissions through online learning solutions. On the socio-economic side, technological integration promotes inclusive access to high-quality education, enhances digital literacy, and equips learners with the skills needed for the green and digital economies of the future. We welcome contributions that examine the integration of educational technology from theoretical, empirical, practical, and policy-oriented perspectives. Submissions may explore topics such as innovative pedagogical practices, AI-supported adaptive learning, digital equity and inclusion, the environmental impacts of digital education, and policy frameworks that foster sustainable, resilient, and socially responsible educational systems. By bridging the gap between educational technology and sustainable development, this Special Issue seeks to provide actionable insights for researchers, educators, and policymakers aiming to harness the transformative potential of technology in creating more sustainable, equitable, and future-ready educational environments worldwide.
