Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Clean, renewable, and sustainable energy are essential for achieving social, economic, and environmental health, which supports productivity and national economic growth. Most of the emissions that account for global warming come from the electricity, transportation, and industrial sector, where fossil fuel use is rampant. It is well known that the combustion of fossil fuels results in the emission of carbon dioxide and greenhouse gases, both of which contribute to a degeneration in the overall air quality. Sustainable energy sources, on the other hand, release little or no greenhouse gases as they are carbon neutral, which helps to slow down global warming and maintains a clean, pristine environment. Thus, current research may examine whether renewable energy sources are feasible and how switching from fossil fuels to renewable energy may reduce climate change and its adverse health impacts.

This Special Issue will highlight the latest research on renewable energy for better health and a sustainable environment. Thus, we invite the submission of research articles, review articles, and/or opinion articles that address the use of renewable resources for combustion along with stress-mitigating factors in response to climate change scenarios and better health for communities. Altogether, this Special Issue will report on different areas of sustainable environmental research, covering the entire range from climate change impacts, biofuels, and energy generation from lignocellulosic biomass and biochar as well as the implications of sustainable renewable technology for better health and environments.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Sustainability is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
