Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Sustainable biotechnologies in food and the environment are highly relevant both scientifically and strategically because it integrates food science and technology, biotechnological innovation and environmental sustainability—particularly in response to contemporary global challenges such as climate change, food insecurity, scarcity of natural resources and increasing environmental degradation. This interdisciplinary approach offers solutions based on solid scientific foundations and guided by the principles of the bioeconomy and circular economy, aiming to optimize production processes, reduce environmental impacts and use renewable resources sustainably. In this context, it is an essential strategy for addressing complex global demands, promoting sustainable development as well as technological and industrial innovation and contributing significantly to improving quality of life and building more resilient food and environmental systems. In this Special Issue, original research articles and reviews are welcome. Research areas may include environmental microbiology, sustainability, food microbiology, biotechnology, bioprospection and technological innovation
