Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The accelerating pressures of climate change, resource scarcity, and shifting consumer expectations are transforming the way retail, transport, and logistics systems operate. As key enablers of global economic activity, these sectors face mounting challenges in balancing efficiency, resilience, and sustainability. Retail systems are evolving through circular economy models, ethical sourcing practices, and sustainable consumption initiatives. In transport, decarbonization efforts, multimodal solutions, and the integration of renewable energy are reshaping mobility networks. Logistics, traditionally seen as a backbone of commerce, is undergoing a rapid transformation through green warehousing, low-emission distribution, and the digital optimization of supply chains. Demand and supply strategies, once primarily driven by cost and speed, are now increasingly shaped by environmental regulations, digital innovations, and the imperative for responsible resource use. Sustainable demand and supply management has therefore become a critical field of inquiry, offering insights into how organizations can reduce their ecological footprint while maintaining competitiveness and service quality.
This Special Issue aims to explore innovative research and practical approaches that advance sustainable demand and supply strategies in retail, transport, and logistics. Contributions will address emerging challenges, innovative approaches, and policy implications that support the transition toward more sustainable systems.
