Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
In the global drive for carbon neutrality and sustainability, solvent extraction—a core separation technology in energy, resource recycling, hydrometallurgy, food, biological, pharmaceuticals, and environmental protection—has gained wide attention for its high selectivity and mild operation. However, conventional processes suffer from high volatile organic solvent consumption, environmental pollution, and low efficiency, hindering sustainable development. Thus, R&D of green, efficient extraction technologies and equipment with high efficiency has become pivotal for industrial upgrading.
Against this backdrop, we launch this Special Issue to provide an academic platform for global exchanges. It covers key topics including green solvent development, extraction mechanism, novel extraction technologies, high-efficiency equipment innovation, numerical simulation, two-phase flow theory, AI in solvent extraction, and industrial applications in various areas.
We welcome contributions, including research articles, communications, or reviews reflecting the latest progress—covering theoretical research and industrial verification—to support the industry’s green and efficient transformation.
We anticipate that this Special Issue will promote academic exchanges and innovation, advance the application of green and efficient extraction technologies, and contribute to sustainable development and a low-carbon society.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Separations is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
