Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The implementation of sustainable development goals (SDGs) on a global scale is becoming a topic of ever-increasing importance due to the many research activities aiming to address the need to significantly change many different human activities that are dependent on the available resources of planet Earth. Sensors and the different contexts in which they are applied, such as the Internet of Things or distributed, cyber-physical systems, can make a major contribution to the application of SDGs, as they use devices capable of measuring critical parameters from the environment and participate in building systems where hardware is employed for a greater, larger goal. This Special Issue aims to gather knowledge from major industrial and academic parties that describes systems based on sensors, actuators and hardware that have information collection as their main purpose. Heterogeneous and interdisciplinary contributions will be required from all areas of hardware and software. Topics, deployments and applications such as autonomous vehicles on air, water or ground, Internet-of-Things-based projects for precision agriculture, cyber-physical systems oriented to renewable energy sources or even blockchain-based developments used to empower local goods production can come in handy for this purpose. Furthermore, eHealth applications and smart city studies will also be considered.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All papers will be peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Sensors is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2200 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
