Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Propagation of radio frequency (RF) is sensitive to the environment through which they travel, which makes them very useful frequencies for sensors. With the use of antennas and transmitters, an RF field can be used for various types of wireless broadcasting and communications.

Many types of wireless devices make use of RF fields. Cordless and cellphones, radio and television broadcast stations, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, satellite communications systems and two-way radios all operate in the RF spectrum. In addition, other appliances outside of communications, including microwave ovens and garage door openers, operate at radio frequencies. Some wireless devices, such as TV remote controls, computer keyboards, and computer mice, operate at IR frequencies, which have shorter electromagnetic wavelengths.

The purpose of this Special Issue is to invite high-quality and state-of-the-art academic papers on challenging issues in the field of RF communication and sensing. We solicit original papers of unpublished and completed research that are not currently under review by any other conference, magazine, or journal. Topics of interest include but are not limited to the following:

  • RF sensor design: RF circuits and RF antennas;
  • RF spectrum;
  • RF biosensors;
  • RF physical sensors: tactile sensors, strain sensors, and crack detection sensors;
  • RF Energy Harvesting;
  • RFID;
  • RF remote sensing;
  • Protocols for RF communication;
  • RF communication applications, such as radar, radio, and cellular networks.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Sensors is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
