Dear Colleagues,
The 6th International Conference on Optical Imaging and Image Processing (ICOIP 2026) will be held in Suzhou, China, on 10–12 December 2026. This conference covers a broad spectrum of high-quality topics in optical devices, laser technology, and image processing. It is a platform that enables scholars to share the latest results and ideas.
Optical imaging sensing and intelligent image processing are core enabling technologies for modern perception systems, extensively applied in biomedical detection, industrial inspection, environmental monitoring, autonomous vision, photoelectric sensing equipment, and multimodal data analysis. With the rapid development of photonic devices and artificial intelligence, emerging optical sensing architectures and intelligent computational algorithms have significantly improved the accuracy, efficiency, and robustness of imaging perception. High-quality papers presented during ICOIP 2026 that fit the scope of Sensors will be invited to submit extended journal versions to this Special Issue. In addition to conference-expanded papers, independent original research and review submissions are also highly welcome.
The topics of the collection include, but are not limited to, recent advances in the following areas:
- New optical imaging sensors and photonic sensing devices;
- Fiber-optic sensors and optoelectronic detection systems for imaging;
- Photoacoustic imaging, multispectral and hyperspectral optical sensing technologies;
- 3D optical scanning sensing, LiDAR imaging and point cloud perception systems;
- Miniaturized and portable intelligent optical imaging equipment;
- Intelligent image reconstruction, denoising, enhancement and restoration algorithms;
- Multimodal sensor fusion and cross-domain optical image analysis;
- AI-driven image segmentation, object detection, recognition and understanding;
- Embedded real-time image processing for optical sensing terminals;
- Optical imaging sensing for biomedical diagnosis, industrial quality inspection and environmental monitoring;
- Advanced computational imaging and intelligent visual perception applications.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Sensors is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
