Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The radio spectrum has become increasingly crowded due to satellite services such as Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) and 5G/6G communications. Intentional and unintentional radio frequency interference (RFI) from adjacent-band and out-of-band emissions pose a great challenge, threatening critical services such as aviation, telecommunications, transportation, and national security. RFI can also degrade the quality of remote sensing data from P-band to G-band and affect weather forecasts, climate monitoring, and other scientific applications that rely on clean, sensitive measurements. Technological innovations in software and hardware play a critical role in detecting and addressing complex RFI issues. In this Special Issue, we welcome research on recent progress and sensor developments in RFI detection and processing technologies, including advanced signal processing with artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML), software-defined radios (SDRs), distributed and networked sensors, adaptive/tunable filtering, and dynamic spectrum sharing.
The RFI problem will continue to grow as new technologies place greater demands on the wireless spectrum, posing a major threat to remote sensing due to the proliferation of electronics and satellites. This Special Issue seeks to present the latest findings in the technological development of RFI detection, assessing impacts and improving applications. Papers on, but not limited to, the following topics are encouraged:

- Sensor and System Design;
- Dynamic Spectrum Management;
- Characterization and Modeling of RFI;
- Novel Applications of Signals of Opportunity (SoOp).

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process.
