Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Currently, the economies and finances of many countries have not yet fully recovered from the crisis associated with the recent COVID-19 pandemic. Moreover, a series of complications have arisen following the outbreak of armed conflicts around the world or as a consequence of the energy crisis. The scientific literature fully reflects these developments, with numerous papers being published in high-impact academic journals.

However, observing the emerging trends driven by the geostrategic reorientation of powerful states (or unions of states), which will undoubtedly have significant implications for national economies, the editors of this Special Issue believe that there is a strong opportunity for researchers to address the topic proposed here—"Risks in Finance, Economy and Business on the Horizon in the 2030s".

This topic is particularly broad from the perspective of financial, economic and business risks, considering the major current debates focused on the emergence of artificial intelligence, the dissolution of certain state alliances and the creation of new ones, the impact of the Russia–Ukraine war, the abandonment of the Green Deal, new policies on military armament (including a substantial increase in defense and war-related budget allocations), the new trade policies of global powers, the reconfiguration of various markets worldwide, tariff wars, and more.

Therefore, the aim of this Special Issue is to present comprehensive studies and original contributions that analyze the aforementioned risks associated with new developments and scenarios in the sphere of economy and business, manifested at all levels: micro-, macro-, and the global economy.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, new developments in the following areas:

  • Impact of the usage of artificial intelligence on risk assessment;
  • Determination of risks at the level of companies;
  • New economic blocs and their implications for international trade;
  • Economic dependence on major powers and associated risks;
  • Risks and challenges of Ukraine's reconstruction;
  • The impact of the Green Deal on green industries and risks for investment in renewable energy;
  • New trade policies of major powers and risks for global markets;
  • Protectionism vs. liberalization: risks and costs;
  • The impact of economic sanctions and tariffs on global supply chains;
  • Changes in financial market structures and new risks of economic volatility.
