Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Climate change has emerged as one of the most pressing global challenges, profoundly reshaping the structure, function, and sustainability of terrestrial ecosystems. Rising temperatures, altered precipitation regimes, and the increasing frequency of extreme events are influencing vegetation dynamics, biodiversity patterns, and ecosystem services at multiple spatial and temporal scales. In this context, remote sensing is an indispensable process for monitoring, modeling, and understanding these changes with high spatial and temporal resolution, and across extensive geographic areas.

This Special Issue aims to bring together innovative research that leverages remote sensing data to assess the impacts of climate change on terrestrial ecosystems. We particularly welcome contributions that explore vegetation phenology, land degradation, ecosystem productivity, carbon and water fluxes, and land cover dynamics in response to climatic variability and change. Studies that integrate multi-source remote sensing, advanced modeling techniques (e.g., machine learning, ecosystem process models), and ground-based observations are strongly encouraged.

By highlighting cutting-edge methodologies and real-world applications, this Special Issue seeks to advance our understanding of climate–ecosystem interactions and support evidence-based decision-making for ecosystem management and climate adaptation strategies. We invite researchers working across several disciplines and ecosystems to contribute to this topical and innovation collection of studies.

Manuscript Submission Information

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Remote Sensing is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
