Dear Colleagues,
Microwave radar remote sensing has become one of the most powerful Earth observation technologies, providing all-weather, day-and-night monitoring capabilities for the Earth’s surface and atmosphere. Recent advances in satellite constellations, airborne and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) platforms, ground-based radar systems, and commercial SAR missions have significantly expanded the availability and diversity of radar observations. At the same time, rapid developments in signal processing, artificial intelligence, physics-informed modelling, and multi-source data fusion are reshaping the way radar data are processed, interpreted, and applied. These emerging technologies enable unprecedented opportunities for high-resolution mapping, dynamic monitoring, environmental assessment, infrastructure management, and disaster resilience across a wide range of Earth observation applications.
This Special Issue aims to collate cutting-edge research on emerging technologies in microwave radar remote sensing and their applications to Earth observation, seeking to provide an interdisciplinary platform for researchers working on methodological innovations, sensor development, intelligent information extraction, and practical applications using radar remote sensing. The topic aligns closely with the scope of Remote Sensing as it promotes advances in remote sensing theory, algorithms, systems, and applications that address scientific, environmental, and societal challenges.

All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process.
