Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Material surface/interface is of great importance and attracting tons of research interest due to its intriguing role in reflecting and modifying the relationship between material properties and structural features.
As the major occurring locations of many physical or chemical processes, such as catalysis, adsorption, separation, energy harvest, conduction, graft, micro-fabrication, adhesion, recognition, fusion, etc., material surface/interface processing and modifying technologies have advanced a lot over the past several decades following research pattern of typical function orientation. However, much less light has been shed on the reactivity of material surface and interface from an energetics perspective; thus, study efforts should devote to generating new and fundamental understandings, uncovering new reactive patterns, developing novel design strategies in terms of exchangeability, defect generation, distribution and energetics, match–mismatch, elaboration, reversibility and manipulation on material surface or interface, to further advance and promote the development of the material industry. Indispensable technologies to monitor reactivity and energetics of material surface and interface include, but are not limited to, structural probes with distinct entropy or enthalpy features and appropriate energy measurement.
We are pleased to invite you to publish original research or review articles in the new Special Issue entitled “Surface and Interface Reactivity and Energetics of Inorganic and Inorganic–Organic Hybrid Nanoscale Materials”. We also invite you to promote the journal among your colleagues and invite them to publish in this Special Issue.
This Special Issue aims to study some essential issues in surface/interface energetics of solid materials. Original research articles and reviews are welcome. Research areas may include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Surface reactivity;
- Energetics ;
- Interface reactivity;
- Flowsheets and process simulation;
- Surface reaction engineering;
- Adsorption and transport in porous materials;
- Adsorbent materials;
- Bioactive materials;
- Antibacterial materials;
- Nano-particle surface engineering;
- Adsorption in wastewater treatment;
- Mineral processing;
- Ion extraction;
- Heterogeneous catalysis;
- Hydrogen production and storage.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Processes is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
