Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Nanofibrous materials represent a unique class of materials distinguished by their sub-micrometer-scale fibrous morphology. These fibers typically possess diameters in the range of a few hundred nanometers or less, resulting in an exceptionally high surface-to-volume ratio that imparts remarkable functional properties.
The potential applications of nanofibrous materials span a wide array of fields. One of the most prominent is filtration, where nanofiber-based membranes are employed for air and liquid purification thanks to their high porosity, fine pore size, and outstanding particle capture efficiency. Such membranes are increasingly utilized across sectors such as healthcare, automotive, aerospace, and water treatment.
In biomedical engineering, nanofiber-based scaffolds play a crucial role in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. Their structural similarity to the extracellular matrix supports cell adhesion, proliferation, and tissue formation. These materials have demonstrated their effectiveness in wound dressings by promoting healing and bone regeneration, as well as aiding the development of artificial organs.
In the energy sector, nanofibrous materials contribute to the improved performance of lithium-ion batteries and fuel cells, serving as electrode components that benefit from enhanced ion transport and large active surface areas. Furthermore, nanofibers are being integrated into sensors and actuators, where their high sensitivity enables innovations in environmental monitoring, medical diagnostics, and soft robotics.
On the occasion of the II International Meeting on New Challenges from the Perspective of Nanofibrous Materials, researchers are invited to contribute original research articles and comprehensive reviews that explore the design, fabrication, characterization, and application of nanofibrous materials, advancing the advancement and technological development of this rapidly evolving field.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Polymers is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2700 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
