2026 In Vitro Biology Meeting

Dear Colleagues,

SIVB invites you to be a part of this exciting event as, for the first time, the SIVB Annual Meeting will be held in Reno, Nevada! Join us from June 6 to 10, 2026, for this exceptional scientific program addressing both foundational and cutting-edge research in the fields of in vitro plant and animal biotechnology and genomics. Plenary sessions will highlight advances in animal and plant technologies, natural and induced genetic variations, synthetic biology, and the use of AI tools and techniques in research. The meeting starts with a full day of workshops on Saturday, June 6 and runs through Wednesday afternoon, June 10. The Annual Meeting is an opportunity to build professional relationships with leading experts in a collegial, relaxed setting; to present your research and receive feedback from some of the most respected names in the field; and to network and make new connections with your peers from around the world.

The 2026 event is like no other, because this will be the celebration of 80 years of the Society for In Vitro Biology (SIVB). In honor of this milestone, we are delighted to present two keynote speakers, both longtime members of SIVB, who will speak about the legacy and history of SIVB, and their own experiences within the Society. Indra Vasil, PhD is a distinguished botanist renowned for his foundational work on the induction of embryogenic cultures and their widespread use for the improvement of major crops, especially cereals. He has also been a generous and inspiring mentor to scores of young scientists worldwide. Dr. Vasil first joined the Tissue Culture Association (TCA) in 1963 and has been a member of the Society for In Vitro Biology for more than 40 years. He is also a member of the International Association of Plant Biotechnology (IAPB) and served as its President from 1998–2002. His keynote talk will be “A Witness to the History of Plant Biotechnology in the SIVB.” Delia Bethell, PhD’s professional career focused on monoclonal antibody production, in vitro diagnostics, and clinical science with Baxter Diagnostics, Genzyme Diagnostics, BioSeparations, and Ventria Bioscience. She holds a BS in Biology from Tulane University, an MS in Biology from the University of Denver, and a PhD in Physiology from Hershey Medical Center, Pennsylvania State University. A member of the Midwestern Branch of the Tissue Culture Association and the national Tissue Culture Association (now the SIVB) since 1985, she served on the Executive Board from 1988 until 2002, as a member, Treasurer, and President. Her keynote talk is entitled “The Society for In Vitro Biology, 80 Years of Commitment to the Teaching and Standardization of the Science of In Vitro Cell and Tissue Culture.” SIVB strongly believes that students are the future of science.

To support our vision to encourage education and scientific informational exchange, special opportunities will be available to assist professional development of students. SIVB offers significantly discounted student and postdoctoral registration rates and student membership initiatives, a student awards program, student and postdoctoral oral presentation competitions and a student poster competition.
