The Portuguese Society for Optics and Photonics (SPOF) is pleased to announce the VII International Conference on Applications of Optics and Photonics (AOP2026), which will take place in Lisbon, Portugal, from July 7 to 10, 2026, at the Lisbon School of Engineering (ISEL) campus. Building on the success of previous SPOF conferences—AOP2011 (Braga), AOP2014 (Aveiro), AOP2017 (Faro), AOP2019 (Lisbon), AOP2022 (Guimaräes), and AOP 2024 (Aveiro)—the AOP2026 will bring together leading experts and emerging voices to share their latest advancements in Optics and Photonics.
Known for its open and welcoming atmosphere, the AOP conference series supports meaningful dialogue, collaboration, and the exchange of impactful ideas. The seventh edition aims to continue this tradition by promoting effective knowledge exchange and interdisciplinary collaboration, facilitating the dissemination and discussion of recent findings and technological breakthroughs, and offering ample opportunities for networking in a collegial and engaging environment.
AOP2026 welcomes contributions across all areas of Optics and Photonics and their applications. Dedicated sessions will highlight emerging technologies, industrial relevance, and societal impact. Special emphasis will be placed on application-driven research and industry engagement, including a Technology Exhibition, where companies and solution providers will showcase innovative products and services.
Students and early-career researchers are especially encouraged to participate, with several awards planned for outstanding presentations and papers. The abstracts (up to 2500 characters) of the communication to be presented at the conference should be submitted before the deadline at: https://indico.fccn.pt/e/aop2026. All the accepted submissions presented at the conference will be published in the journal i-ETC: ISEL Academic Journal of Electronics Telecommunications and Computers in Platinum Open Access under a CC BY-NC 4.0 International License. Authors will also have the opportunity to submit extended versions for publication in Special Issues of high-impact ISI/SCI journals.
As is tradition, AOP2026 will feature a vibrant social program, including the conference dinner and other networking events—creating an ideal setting for new friendships and research partnerships to flourish.
Located in the northern part of Lisbon, the ISEL campus is easily accessible by road, rail, and air, with both the main railway station and Lisbon’s international airport just a few metros stop away.
