Travel Award
Dear Colleagues,
As Editor-in-Chief of Photonics, I am pleased to announce the winners of the Photonics Travel Awards for 2021.
The awards have been granted to the following applicants:
Mr. Aleksandrs Leitis, a Ph.D. student from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology of Lausanne (École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, EPFL), Switzerland, will attend the Optical Design and Fabrication Congress during 27 June–01 July 2021, to present his paper “Functional Mid-Infrared Metasurfaces for Optical Wavefront Manipulation, Sensing and Dynamic Phase Control”.
Dr. Elena Losero, currently starting her new post-doctoral research at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology of Lausanne (École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, EPFL), Switzerland. She will attend the CLEO Conference during 11–13 May 2021, to present her paper “Experimental Superresolution via Structured Illumination Quantum Correlation Microscopy”.
Dr. Zhifeng Zhang, who recently graduated with a Ph.D. from the Department of Electrical and Systems Engineering of the University of Pennsylvania, United States, plans to attend the international conference of SPIE/COS Photonics Asia during 10–13 October 2021, to present his paper “Tunable Vortex Microlaser with Ultrafast Tunability” as well as two related works.
With so many high-quality applicants, the evaluation process and final decisions were challenging. We would like to thank all of the applicants for submitting their diverse and fascinating range of research topics. On behalf of the Assessment Committee, I would like to congratulate the winners on their accomplishments.
