Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

There has been a recent epidemic of opioid-related deaths and patients diagnosed with substance use disorders. While pharmacotherapy has been shown to be effective in preventing relapse, there is a clear gap in treatment availability. Pharmacists can play an essential part in managing patients with substance use disorders. We are in the process of creating a Special Issue of Pharmacy on the role of the pharmacists in the management of substance use disorders and how this profession can help to bridge the workforce gap. The publications will highlight practice descriptions, treatment dilemmas, optimization of care, and recommendations for overcoming barriers.

Pharmacy is a peer-reviewed, scientific, open access journal on pharmacy education and practice, published quarterly online by MDPI. We would like to offer you the opportunity to publish a paper describing your work free of charge. The article should incorporate a detailed description of your practice development and/or pharmacy services and include outcomes or other relevant data, when available. The collection will be published online to help pharmacists in establishing or improving their current practice. It will emphasize the integral role that pharmacists play in this field.
